I bought one at the start of the season. EASIEST club i've ever hit. Automatic from off the green. Just could justify the space since I hit lots of greens. It did help me adopt more of a putting stroke with my wedges around the green tho!
Video perfectly encapsulates ego getting in the way of progress. At 5:05: "This type of shot the club is worthless and can't handle..." immediately proceeds to put it next to the flag for a tap-in. Then at the end, asks an admittedly bad chipper if he'd bag it and he says, just seconds after putting three chips right next to the hole "Not me, personally." Hey, if you feel cooler chunking and blading your Vokeys than bagging a chipper more power to you...
Hi Dan, i am a Ping ChipR convert, I am a comfortable single figure hcapper and practice my short game more than any other part of my game, I don’t carry 14 clubs so I have room for the ChipR, it just makes certain chip and run shots so easy and will steer golfers away from using too much loft around the green. It is also very versatile as a rescue club from trouble, because it is upright you stand closer to it,you are more accurate with it and I can hit a great hooky runner out of trouble, I would say leave preconceptions aside and try it first.
Best club I've put in the bag this year. I am a 19 index senior who has chopped and changed wedges a lot. Always on the lookout for something to make golf easier, I already use three fairways, hybrid irons and a high MOI putter, I thought the ChipR would help and it has. I got a graphite shaft to match my irons. Looking at my stats, (two months of three games a week), the club appears to be saving me 2.6 - 3 shots a round. It just gets the ball closer than the other clubs that I previously used. Of course pros or low handicap golfers will be dismissive of this club, it is not made for them. I took out an approach wedge, as I also found the ChipR useful from further out then Ping advertises. Well worth it in the real world!
Hi Nick spot on comment’s 👍, I found the same with the ChipR 👌, brilliant from 100yds and in most reviewers miss this 😬,got my loft tweaked (+2.5deg) now perfect 👍 Thanks Dickey 9hcp 75year Senior Golfer
ChipR replaces my 54, lots of haters on here with nothing better to do. Helps me with my tempo. More than a 1 trick pony, can hit it over things if necessary.
My dad bought this (70 yrs old) he loves it … I tried it around the practice green and it’s really easy to use !! Nice weight and love the upright lie !!
I've seen so many chippr reviews where the reviewer puts themself in a situation where the club is less than ideal, they proceed to hit a good shot and still say the club's too one dimensional. I think it's our thought process that's too one dimensional sometimes. chipping and pitching isn't something that worries me, at my level I'm relatively decent at it but I would 100% put a chipper in the bag if I could take one on a practice green for an hour to see if it helped me first.
I bought the Cleveland chipper a few months ago since I had room in the bag and have a lot of fun with it. Even hit it full swing for like 85-90 yards. Crazy easy to use and I don’t feel bad about having it as a 6 hcp
Hi guy's, recently been fitted for a set of i525s and came across the chipr at around the same time, I've bought one and it's absolutely transformed my game, not only around the greens, but from the trees and rough following a wayward drive, I'd conservatively say after getting it dialled in, it's saving me about four to six shots a round. I was very much in the anti chipper camp, but now I'm an absolute convert..
I have the Cleveland chipping wedge. It is 42 degrees instead of 38, so it it a bit more versatile. I can also hit full shots with it...it goes almost the exact distance of my gap wedge (it is much shorter than a normal club) but a lot straighter. It is my favorite club in my bag. I hit it from a short chip, all the way to 110 yards. I think the Ping is just a bit too strong in loft to be as versatile as the Cleveland C-Wedge.
Hi Cotta Brilliant comment’s👍, got my ChipR loft Tweaked (+2.5deg) now 41deg it’s now perfect👍, and as you say Brilliant from 100yds and in, Dickey 9hcp 75year Senior Golfer
Agree re Cleveland and more versatility. I have one too and use it from about 50 metres in. The best part I find is I can almost always get it on line to the pin (or the chosen line). So it makes a good rescue club as well where you have a tight window to chip through or around.
Yep Cleveland chipper to me is a better choice for my game. I say you can't have my COBRA ltdx ls driver and my Cleveland chipper ...any other club in my bag is negotiable. I don't have a finesse bone in my body....it's all or nothing for me. The chipper allows me to hit the with more force and keep the ball in the area I want it to land. I use it all the way out to 60 yards.
I agree with the Cleveland being more versatile. I liked how the ping was heavier in the head than the Cleveland, so I liked that better with the ping, but overall, price included, the Cleveland was the clear choice
Lester, I’m sorry I just 100% disagree with your logic for not carrying this club. Firstly, you don’t hit as many greens as you would like. Secondly you NEVER play a 7 iron off the green. So I’m not sure who’s game you’re thinking about my friend but it’s not yours. You almost exclusively play putter when you’re 5-10 yards off the green (depending on the lie). And you’re good with putter off the green. That’s what this club is for! You’re an excellent golfer and you shouldn’t be embarrassed to carry this club. This is UA-cam mate. I would rather see you carry this in your bag this season and climb the ladder in hell of a style than dismiss this club bc it’s not on tour. Dare to be bold! Excellent video. awesome transition, Dan. Very cool @ 4:20. Thanks, gang.
I’ve been using the ChipR for several weeks and found it works very well on flat lies with several yards of rough and equal green length. Where I have problems is very short chips as I tend to hit it too hard or never get out of the rough, raised greens where you need to hit into the bank or go over it (both go too far) and controlling steep down hill chips. In all those cases I have trouble controlling the speed. I no longer try to use it in those situations and instead use the appropriate iron. I do think it makes a difference over the course of a round.
Mine is on order, custom fit, due in November. Bernie, park your ego and get one! I’d love to se how you got on, I bet it would lower your score and push you up the Ladder.
Memories of the old “Bronty Chipmaster” came flooding back when I saw the headline. I think ego stops a lot of people using a club with “chipR” on it but if it can knock 2/3 strokes off a score then why not give it a go. Price will also probably stop people buying the club.
I have this (15hc) , my SG has come down massively. those that look down their nose at it are the ones that probably need it. Yes its not for everyone but for 90% of club golfers this should be in the bag
Easily the one of the best clubs in my bag. Won a flighted singles tourney the other week my chipper is a big reason why. Stuck multiple chips to within 2-3 feet for some kick ins.
I have read some of the responses. Very interesting. Ping are considered a top 4 club manufacturer and charge a premium price for this. Many people have used Sports direct Dunlop/ Slazenger and Wilson models and find them of great benefit, at around £20 or less I get it certainly for low H’cap players that have great short games they would be laughed out of their golf clubs for even thinking of it, but as long as it is a legal club there will be a market for chippers with certain players. Even just as a confidence thing if you have the “yips” or “sh**ks” to help you get over things. I’m sure some players even use it as a practice club, before a round when they then switch to a 7 or 8 iron To summarise A chipper is a club that unfortunately seen as not a real club for a serious golfer, but has a place in anyones bag if they need it!! Much underrated!!
Great review as always Dan you are great at reviews always love to see more of these. I also thought Bernie looked a lot more comfortable chipping with the Ping club but like me our egos probably won't let us buy one. 🙈🤣👍
Bought the Cleveland one this has a bit more loft at 45 and found this is more versatile can even open up to go over green side bunkers and pitches from 100 yards if I want to run it, my friend who tends to fat his chips bought one as well it has saved both of us so many shots best purchase
I used to sell loads of chippers in the early 70’s made by Bronty. Basically an upright 8/9 iron with a putter grip. They certainly worked for those that had them.
The comment always goes " I won't use it but handicap golfers can. I bet if you did drop one club that you only use once every two or three rounds and commit to using a chipper for a few weeks it will be more of a stroke saver than that other odd club you have.
I have short game issues and I am using the Cleveland C wedge (no mention of the word chipper), and it has given me a functional short game now, also it's not a one trick pony, I can used it from 70 yards in, from under trees, and also smelly lies are no problem, best stick in the bag👍
Agree! The weighty feeling, the heaviness is a definite plus when stroking it. If I have a tight lie or in some deep grass I just open the club face a little. Hit many of exceptional flop shots with this club. I love the feel of the club, the length of the grip and the putter like angle of the shaft.
I’ve occasionally played an old Ping Chipo that I have. I really like it but it always felt too light to me and the loft is more like a traditional 5 iron. I would certainly try the new Chipr
When someone mentions the word 'Chipper' I think , 'feeling bright and chirpy, up beat, a bit cheeky' LOL Seriously, no room for that in my bag but I can see beginners using it to develop a solid chipping technique that can be used with other clubs and sacrificing another club for it probably wouldn't matter so much. One aspect that would have been interesting to demo - how could it be used, if at all, with a fullish swing on it. I've seen legitimate shots played with a full swing of a putter.
Chipper = Chopper Just use your 8 iron by gripping down, steepening the shaft (like a putter) and hitting off the toe.....save 200 quid! Shame Ping don’t offer it in other lofts, as something like a 48 degree loft might be more versatile.
You hit the nail on the head Dan. I have similar issues to Lester. My yips are very long putts and chipping, not the short and medium length. That is why I have never entertained a chipper. It is the mental issue of swinging a club short distances in the back swing. Hypnosis or sports psychologist?!?
Honestly think one of the best clubs to help golfers with issues chipping. The review is amazing and is everything you could ask for to get an honest non bias opinion
Apart from its name, this is an excellent offering from PING that will benefit most Club Golfers and weekend warriors, many of whom have issues with their chipping. This group of golfers also usually have at least one redundant club in their Bags, that they never actually use it's just there to make up 14 clubs. They could easily drop this redundant club to make way for the Chipr that is going to save them several shots per Round.
Bought one this week and game’d it today for the first time; it’s never leaving my bag. Made the kind of chips I might thin normally absolutely easy. Took 5-7 shots off my score today easily.
I use the chipper in the traditional way but also use it with a full swing for more accuracy for up to say 100 yards. The extra ‘weight’ encourages me to swing with a slightly slower motion which probably accounts for the accuracy. Using this motion also helps me to get less dispersion when I use the longer irons. I don’t care what other golfers think about the chipper - it works for me and helps me maintain my 18 handicap
I'm thinking of getting one, I'd have no problem dropping my 4 iron out of the bag. I carry 4 wedges and use them well but there's times this be handy, ie a tight lie then a bit of fuzz on the collar making off the green putts iffy.
Ping I believe had an older design similar called the Chip O back in the day. From a guy who carries a Ping G10 9 wood, the embarrassment factor about the make up pf my bag has long disappeared. If it works, I will game it. Lastly, the benefits of the club should be more dependent on the type of course one plays. My home course is an original late 30's design, w/elevated small greens surrounded w/natural hazards.
Agree with Barney, I would not want to give up any clubs I am currently using. I primarily use my 8 iron and occasionally my hybrid depending on the length and lie of the shot. However the ChipR is a very good looking club.
Although I have a Cleveland chipper I decided to buy on of these Ping Chip R's. I actually like the heavier head and I am finding it a little easier to direct it towards the hole for some reason.
I got the Cleveland C wedge - their chipper and it quickly became my favorite club. I use it 90 yards and in. I think you glossed over the shot making you can do with this club, and i think the upright lie is what separates it from a 7-8 iron. I do like the little extra loft that Cleveland has vs ping ChipR. i find i can do more than bump and runs. No cannot replace a sand or lob wedge with it, but there are other ways to slot it in the bag. For me i took out my longest iron.
I improved my chipping over the last years and so avoided the need to bag a chipper. My ego is just to big to carry one. If in the future my chipping goes, I hope my ego will have left too.
Quality club 2years ago I suffered with the shanks on my chipping so I bought a cheap chipper from ebay used it on the golf course until I got my confidence back it worked a treat, so now I use up to 9 iron to chip also I can't justify spending 140 quid I think I read that right on one club but it do look nice cheers
I only have 13 clubs in the bag, and I have always struggled with consistency when chipping; so, the big question is why don't I have a chipper. Maybe I just answered my own question.
The struggle is is it worth taking out a club for something that's only good in very specific situations. Would you suggest getting it in your putter length?
I was always confident of chipping with any club in the bag, and so never found a use for a chipper - and I think Bernie hit the nail on the head, when he said what club to remove to permit inclusion of such a club? The answer is surely a chipping lesson with 6/7/8/9 irons and some graft on the practice green ?
I got one fitted with a jumbo max grip to get more of a putter feeling. I can use it from 50m in depending on the situation. I’ve found my short game suffered through lack of time to practice and the chipr being a bit one dimensional limits my choice of shot making it easier to commit to a shot.
Interesting. I think around a links course there is always a place for a consistent chip and run. If you need this why the hell not. I would if I needed it but I like to be able to hit lots of shots with each club, so versatility would be an issue
My Short game is sub par, if I could chip around the greens in a 5 foot circle I would gladly give up 2 clubs in my bag - 5 wood and my 3 Iron. No Brainer.
I find as a 18hc that I don't hit as many greens in regulation. I'm 61 and can't get the distance off the tee to get where I can use my 9i to wedges as approach shots ( probably the strongest part of my game, apart from putting), consequently I have to club up and miss the greens more often. I think a chipper will probably get more use by my type of player. I putt well and on long par 4s I usually need to chip well to score well. I bought a smart sole because it has a little more loft. And a certain person endorsed it too. I haven't had a chance to play a round with it yet, but it will be interesting to find out how often I use it, and if it's beneficial to my current game.
If you take an average golfer take them around a green all different lies and distances. give them 3 wedges and an 8 iron drop 10 balls Give them a chipper drop 10 balls the chipper will be more effective in Overall distance. They may stick 2-3 closer with 4 clubs but they will have 2-3 of those same shots well off. The chipper is going to be much better on proximity and you also get to see all the breaks of the green as the ball is rolling to the hole. Which makes putting much easier.
Not true. Mygolfspy has done a test using a bunch of golfers from 2-15 handicap. 55% saw small improvements over their usual wedge from good lies, but 65% saw worse results from poorer lies. So the advantage is very marginal, and disappears in adverse conditions. And it takes a more versatile club out of your bag.
Yes a test they did with golfers for 1 day. So the chipper, a club they have never used before, performed almost the same as their own clubs. I picked one up a couple months ago. I had roughly the same results right out of the gate. Now it's not even close on a larger sample size. If you have to hit a flop shot or out of the bunker you wouldn't use it. But if there is a little green to work with it will get an average player up and down more often (with a little practice). Most people won't use it because they tried it once and it wasn't stand out better.
My chipping is generally one of my better areas of my game…… except on bone hard summer lies when there’s no grass, so this might be option as I hate hitting long putts which would be the natural answer. Also, would a chipper be a good club to use to escape from under trees or low branches, to bump and run out into the fairway and back in play, as I’d imagine the loft and so ball height would be more controllable compared to a ‘normal iron’ ?
Just picked one up but haven’t used it yet. I hate putting outside of the green which I found myself in that situation at least 6 times last I played. I don’t have the “touch” either with my chipping that close. I see it this way, I would easily sacrifice my 9 or PW for this club. For me, I am more likely to make critical dumb mistakes as I approach the green than if I’m 140-170 yards away using a 9 or wedge. I ease up on my 8 or give it a little more with my wedges.
I would like to try it for a month or so, so that I could see how often I would use it. I have big problems with my confidece in chipping in real rounds, it works well in practise…
I think Lester should give this a few goes on the course, might find it’s more useful than it first appears. He looks very confident with it and confidence is massive with short game
I wonder if you made a poor chipper only use ONLY a 9 iron round the green wether they would also improve. A benefit of the chipper is - there is only one so you take all the other options and confusion away. A good solution for some, maybe not for the majority
I struggle with my wedge so i bought the ChipR hoping to improove. I can't be worst than last year when i lost many games again my brothers just with my bad chips.
People tend not to use one because of ego. It’s not a good look. I had a square strike a few years ago when I was struggling with the chipping yips. It was excellent and got me back on track. But it’s difficult to justify taking space away from another club.
I've never tried a chipper. I agree with bernie in that what club would I take out of the bag to put a chipper in. When I struggled with chipping I practiced bump and runs with 7 and 8 iron. I see the appeal of them and the ping one looks good but just not for me
I tried one few years ago as some mates play them, personally I thought it was rubbish and didn’t do anything a 7/8 iron didn’t do… waste of a club in your bag but some mates do play them well
I’ve been struggling massively with my chipping lately & am considering a chipper just to build confidence back up. I feel though like it would be admitting defeat…
When I hear it think everything fine and dandy or all good 😂 I’m feeling chipper today This not really designed for you and leister should give it to an mid to high handicap player and see what the difference is to them Think would get used a lot more than you think by them as a lot more greens missed and short or over hit shots into the greens
Chippers to me have always (until recently) screamed "Old Man". However, I can see how someone who struggles with their technique or the yips around the green would want to take the thinking out of this part of their game. I think this club would be far more useful with a loft between a GW - PW. As a GW you could still get it airborne with a touch of check if needed as well as play it down. As a PW you could carry more of whatever is in front of you to get the ball on the green and rolling as fast as possible. I think 38* in loft is just too low for me. I only play Parkland-esque courses so bump and run doesn't feel as useful as often as a one-hop-and-stop type of shot. Warning: As soon as I get 30 yrds and in I only use 1 club and I've become very proficient at it, so take that into account as well.
I’ve a Odyssey X tank chipper, if I end up just off the green, it’s far easier for me than a normal wedge. It was easy to fit into my bag, as I’ve 6,7,8,9,PW,gw,sw,lw hybrid, 7+5 woods + driver, and putter. So 13 clubs without my chipper.
You mean you've got no 3,4 or 5 irons! Ooooh, you're not a proper golfer. You seem to have lost your ego somewhere, too. Don't worry, there are plenty of Seve wannabes on here who'll tell you how to get it back again, and also tell you what to do with that 'cheating chipper'. 🙂
I agree the chipper is a fairly limited club but I have seen several different reviewers experiment with hitting it over bunkers and 3/4 and full shots with surprisingly good results. I would’ve loved to see Lester try some of those shots with it. Maybe the heavier head weight would make it perform more like a wedge? Have Lester experiment with those shots, that would be interesting to watch especially for the people contemplating using one
We've all been there, bad chipping, but these clubs will sell. For some ppl with real difficulty chipping it can can make the difference between playing and not playing a round of golf. To have this in the bag is a bit of a security blanket. I personally can use any club to chip but I've played with many who their head explodes when they can't chip and just give up golf.
Bought the ChipR…but have struggled with technique. I need to practice more…but it appears to be a great club since I rarely hit the greens in regulation. It’s usually just a “chip and a putt” to make par. So, I think with my 14 handicap it should improve my game.
After using the ChipR for six weeks, I discovered that using my 9 and 8 iron with the same putting technique was superior as it is easy to change distance with choosing which iron to chip with. Sold my ChipR on eBay for what I paid for it!
To me this has always been an unneeded club. Which club would I take out of my bag? I have always chipped without wrist break and I think that simplifies things. Guess I'm saying that I can play the same shot with pretty much any club so why buy another club that is not versatile 🤣
Just put a chipper in my bag, actually. It's definitely more reliable than taking a 9 iron off the fringe. In my regular weekly 3-some, not a single hole goes by without someone having a shot that could benefit from a chipper. Will my golfing buddies try one, though? Absolutely not!
Ping haven’t released it for no reason. It’s not for me, but, they have obviously done their research. It will sell, golfers will buy anything they think will help their game. This club, with the name Ping stamped on it, will succeed, but, like Bernie, what club drops out, if you carry the max.
I love chipping. Its the part of the game i like to practise the most. So it wouldn't be for me. My friend has a chipper and I liked it, it was easy to use but it is as easy for me to do the same with an iron. Personally I use 3 vokey wedges. 56 51 46 and I usally use the 46 for bump and run. I use a putting stroke there and just thinks it's easier then using something with a loft of an i iron but that just comes down to what I am used to playing and practise with. I would not use a chipper mostly because I don't like a club that I really only can shoot one type of shot with.
The concept for me is good, for those who can't chip or bump and run it is ideal. However, for me personally I would need to take out a club that I would miss, maybe 1 of the 4 wedges I carry and that would be a mistake. For a bump and run I use a 9 iron and grip down, using a putter stroke. Anything with a hazard in front a bunker or some rough ground I use a sand iron using the bounce. For beginners who blade lofted clubs the chpr is a brilliant idea but for let's say better players it's a waste of anotger club.
I bought one at the start of the season. EASIEST club i've ever hit. Automatic from off the green. Just could justify the space since I hit lots of greens. It did help me adopt more of a putting stroke with my wedges around the green tho!

Then at the end, asks an admittedly bad chipper if he'd bag it and he says, just seconds after putting three chips right next to the hole "Not me, personally." Hey, if you feel cooler chunking and blading your Vokeys than bagging a chipper more power to you...

Totally correct: I tried it a couple of days ago and I found it absolutely not one dimensional. I ordered it immediately.

Had 6 delivered on launch date, sold all of them in 7 days. Next delivery not due in till November. In my opinion this club will redefine chippers.

Leave the ego at the door. I got the Cleveland version. Absolutely awesome.
I have read some of the responses. Very interesting. Ping are considered a top 4 club manufacturer and charge a premium price for this.
Many people have used Sports direct Dunlop/ Slazenger and Wilson models and find them of great benefit, at around £20 or less
I get it certainly for low H’cap players that have great short games they would be laughed out of their golf clubs for even thinking of it, but as long as it is a legal club there will be a market for chippers with certain players.
Even just as a confidence thing if you have the “yips” or “sh**ks” to help you get over things.
I’m sure some players even use it as a practice club, before a round when they then switch to a 7 or 8 iron
To summarise A chipper is a club that unfortunately seen as not a real club for a serious golfer, but has a place in anyones bag if they need it!!
Getting one soon. Nothing to do with struggling with confidence. Statistically this will get you closer to hole & lower scores. ⛳️😎
Chipper = Chopper
Just use your 8 iron by gripping down, steepening the shaft (like a putter) and hitting off the toe.....save 200 quid!
Accept a bad shot first, smile at the ball and let it go 👍
Honestly think one of the best clubs to help golfers with issues chipping.
10 handicapper got myself a Cleveland smart sole chipper and shot my first gross level par round, wouldn’t be without it now
Bought one this week and game’d it today for the first time; it’s never leaving my bag. Made the kind of chips I might thin normally absolutely easy. Took 5-7 shots off my score today easily.
Perfect 👌
Let me know if you get one and how it goes 👍
When I think of the word Chipper, I think of a junior Raleigh bicycle. 😁. Great video gents.
Get one 👍
The struggle is is it worth taking out a club for something that's only good in very specific situations. Would you suggest getting it in your putter length?
I was always confident of chipping with any club in the bag, and so never found a use for a chipper - and I think Bernie hit the nail on the head, when he said what club to remove to permit inclusion of such a club? The answer is surely a chipping lesson with 6/7/8/9 irons and some graft on the practice green ?
That is it though, if you have the time. Admittedly when I played and chipped at my best I had more time on my hands to put the practice in
I got one fitted with a jumbo max grip to get more of a putter feeling. I can use it from 50m in depending on the situation. I’ve found my short game suffered through lack of time to practice and the chipr being a bit one dimensional limits my choice of shot making it easier to commit to a shot.
That is illegal as a chipper must have an iron grip! Also a two sided chipper is illegal!
@@kieranpyne3271 it is an iron grip, the ones that Bryson uses, that’s why I had to use that grip because it’s round and for irons
Fair enough if it is the Bryson one. Sorry!
Interesting. I think around a links course there is always a place for a consistent chip and run. If you need this why the hell not. I would if I needed it but I like to be able to hit lots of shots with each club, so versatility would be an issue
Hey All…Santa brought me one. Going to give it a go Friday. Ohhff…haven’t swung a club all winter. 🍻
Good luck Jimmy 🍻
My Short game is sub par, if I could chip around the greens in a 5 foot circle I would gladly give up 2 clubs in my bag - 5 wood and my 3 Iron. No Brainer.
Chipper - 1st thoughts, Friday night fish & chips, from the chipper!!! Probably gone off message with that😋
Tried out my mates Ping chipr and loved it so much I’ve ordered one 😊
Me too…
I find as a 18hc that I don't hit as many greens in regulation.
I'm going to bite the bullet and get fitted for the chips this Saturday, I'm fed up messing up around the greens.
I Have Cleveland smart sole chipper . I absolutely love it , around the green I’m lethal with it.
I added one to my bag. Love it. I also cut it down an inch and added a fat grip. Great from under a tree!! The guy in the shorts seems a bit bias.
Hi bought ping chipr I only use it were I
Need to love it
Regards Lester Turner
Just picked one up but haven’t used it yet. I hate putting outside of the green which I found myself in that situation at least 6 times last I played. I don’t have the “touch” either with my chipping that close. I see it this way, I would easily sacrifice my 9 or PW for this club. For me, I am more likely to make critical dumb mistakes as I approach the green than if I’m 140-170 yards away using a 9 or wedge. I ease up on my 8 or give it a little more with my wedges.
Sure, I’d pick one up. Please also test it from the rough and bunker. Yeah I’m that bad.
Coming tomorrow
I would like to try it for a month or so, so that I could see how often I would use it. I have big problems with my confidece in chipping in real rounds, it works well in practise…
I think Lester should give this a few goes on the course, might find it’s more useful than it first appears. He looks very confident with it and confidence is massive with short game
Can you use this chipper if you putt like Jack -- are there putting strokes that don't work with this club?
Bernie Bernie Bernie put that ego on the shelf That car will take 2 to 3 strokes off every round of yours come on give it a go
Looks like something they would sell at Aldi. I do get that a lot of people would benefit from a chipper but not for me.
When I hear it think everything fine and dandy or all good 😂
I’m feeling chipper today
This not really designed for you and leister should give it to an mid to high handicap player and see what the difference is to them
Think would get used a lot more than you think by them as a lot more greens missed and short or over hit shots into the greens
i have a Cleveland Smart Sole Chipper Love it Took out 3wood Did not use it
Chippers to me have always (until recently) screamed "Old Man".
Great also to get out of troubles, when you’re in the trees and you’ve to lay up low
Guess I'm saying that I can play the same shot with pretty much any club so why buy another club that is not versatile 🤣
if it helps go for it i use 9 iron myself. friends have them and it helps them.
I like Bernies honesty, never change Bernie, we see you.
Arizona dirt is hard as cement around the greens during dry time (all the time). Irons are duff city because of the lie
Just put a chipper in my bag, actually. It's definitely more reliable than taking a 9 iron off the fringe. In my regular weekly 3-some, not a single hole goes by without someone having a shot that could benefit from a chipper. Will my golfing buddies try one, though? Absolutely not!
A chipper was never on my radar, until I tried the Ping chipR…
When I think of chipper, I think of the double sided club that looked like a bullseye putter.
Most golfers miss greens, this chipper would get a lot of use by most golfers
Bernie needs one but he is too proud to admit it, simple as!
Ping haven’t released it for no reason. It’s not for me, but, they have obviously done their research. It will sell, golfers will buy anything they think will help their game.
This club, with the name Ping stamped on it, will succeed, but, like Bernie, what club drops out, if you carry the max.
Still using my Ping ChipO! Must be 20 years old…sadly I’m not 🤦🏻♂️
I love chipping.
I compared the Cleveland Smart Sole chipper and this one. I bought the Cleveland.
I'm struggling to see how is this different from using say, a 7 iron around the green for those chip and run shots
Much easier, due to its weight and lie (said from someone like me, who uses Pw, 8i and 6i to bump & run): impossible to duff or thin it.
Got one, love it
Excellent vid, thanks
What about a 3 hole challenge with only the chipper?
Done ✅

@@DanHendriksenGolf bit behind, just watched it, excellent!
Why would you have one of those in your bag , why not use an 8 iron for the same job ?
Is it that different from stabbing a 7 iron which is what I do?
More 8 iron 👍
