The blue category felt very tricky to me. Most jurys aren't made up of 12 people where I'm from, you'd also usually buy only one donut at the bakery rather than 12, and of course almost no country uses the imperial system apart from the US, Liberia and Myanmar. I never would've found that category. I'm not fluent enough to know about expressions like "dog tired" or "dog days" so I couldn't get the blue category by process of elimination. Oh well, you win some you lose some. 😅
I made one mistake being careless and put days in the dozen category as in 12 days of Christmas. But had i looked at the others id have seen dog and then got it no errors.
Catch, Clock, Notice, Register ===> Daily ___ It is also important to note that, although U.S. juries are typically composed of 12 jurors, the number in many jurisdictions there is often reduced to five or six.
Connections Puzzle #571 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Amazing to me how quickly you spotted the "dog____" idea. I actually saw the "dozen" idea first, but I thought that it was the purple, so I saved it. (I generally try to solve in ascending order.) I was surprised to learn it was the blue. It took me forever to see "dog_____."
I'm sick of the way this game considers the order of the final two chosen categories for the score! It makes no sense; one implies the other. This is exacerbated by the fact that NYT is so often wrong about which categories are more easily guessed. I realise how utterly ridiculous it is to complain about this, and my tone is jestingly contemptuous. But still, as someone who vainly and pointlessly tries for the reverse rainbow each day, c'mon. @mikemcculley. I'm someone who is delighted if I get them at all! Rainbows just don't come into it. 😊 But thanks for the laugh. Good luck with your Connections endeavours. 🤞🤞🤞
Happy New Year, Chris! Here's to another year of savory and satisfying puzzlers!
Got green and purple, then had a difficult time separating the others.
I would definitely agree this one was pretty easy.
I found "dog" first, then cadence and perceive. What was left confused me until I got the "one of twelve" connection.

I thought the dozen category was a red herring at first due to the inclusion of donuts, because a baker’s dozen is 13 instead of 12.

I happen to agree with their assessment this time. More people wouldn’t know about music making than just perception.
