To get out of a trigger I think of the child inside that I’ve tried to keep silenced and I bring her out and tell her she’s ok. I tell her we’re not there anymore and that she doesn’t have to be so scared because we’re grown up now. We don’t have to remain in situations that trigger us.

Hi Deirdre! I am a long-time fan of yours. My suggestion/question is: can you give us a fictitious example of figuring out what tiny bit to remember? I liked the visual conceptualization, but I am too literal. How do we put on the brakes to keep the whole thing from coming back?
