When I was 19 yo I was in a fire fight during Tet Offensive on the DMZ at Dong Ha. We both deserve a pat on lthe back. God Bless all that have served. viewed in California
From sub commander in WWII to a star ship MD. "Bones" has done it all. "Dammit Jim, I am a U-boat commander. Here is a trick I learned in WWII--maybe you can sneak up on Khan."
@@stanfordcoffee USS Spearfish actually did rescue these nurses! And also the USS Crevalle did rescue the dependents of Philippine Guerrillas, one of which "was very pregnant" and gave birth to a son before the sub arrived in Australia.
Good show and good presentation. However, I have to believe that after everything those brave nurses endured on Bataan and Corregidor they would not have been concerned with how they were dressed when they reached Australia. Hollywood must have its view.
I just found out 1 of my school buddies brother is a sub skipper on modern sub. U.S. submarine scared me dizzy. While scuba diving NW corner of America an Washington State, a long long basalt rock wall, 100 fathoms deep (600ft) a piece of rock wall a fissure line fell to make a 2 walled with ceiling room, but with no floor just 550ft deep. (Bottomless pit baby!). Anything swimming or floating entire straight has too pass this rock formation. Lin Cod that can bite your into 3 parts, easy! Great Whites, you've seen them! Orca Killer whales in groups of pods! They know your there from your exhaust bubbles. Then the sonor or US subs passing by blast you senseless. You see this huge submarine pass by so close you can read marking an fixtures. Then while all this going on you look down too nothingness! One of Scariest places on earth! I loved it! I'm last too know of this place on earth!
Could be by watching this series on Tv this show more than any other i wanted to be a sonar man on a sub But, when I became of age the Navy recruiter told me I was a 4F
Rather odd episode. The Captain (Doc McCoy, Kelly) with his shirt off, and then still with women present. The women appeared to not have any idea of the impact their presence had to men? Concerned with their clothing? They had been rescued from Corregidor, these are experienced nurses, not naive teenagers. The woman in the shower? Showers, salt water? Fresh for 10 seconds? So far, this is the only episode like it. Sounds unrealistic. What happened, Hollywood got more involved? Corregidor had just surrendered ... May 1942

When I was a 19yo teenager in 1967, I served on the CARP SS338
Thank you!

Dammit Jim! I'm a submarine officer, not a damn miracle worker!
ha, ha, ha! yes, I was thinking that, that was Deforrest Kelly.
I'm just a simple country doctor
Wooo women on board a submarine.....bad luck....
Did you know? "Scotty" was not a Scott, but he IS WAR HERO! Got part of his hand blown off, you never saw both hands in any show.
Good to hear mention of Fremantle Australia and and Australian bitter beer.
I'm a bitters man, didn't know Ozzies are. Only Oz beer I have seen in the states is Sheaf Stout.
DeForrest Kelley was never that laid back as the doctor aboard the Enterprise
From sub commander in WWII to a star ship MD. "Bones" has done it all. "Dammit Jim, I am a U-boat commander. Here is a trick I learned in WWII--maybe you can sneak up on Khan."
"Dammit Jim, tell the engineers to take'em them a bale of rags, let'em make their own Kotex."
Hats off to our Submariner's and Military Nurses!!!❤️🙏🇺🇸
These men are special
Doctor McCoy is the Commander!!! We are saved!
So this is where Hollywood got the script for Operation Petticoat!
@@stanfordcoffee USS Spearfish actually did rescue these nurses! And also the USS Crevalle did rescue the dependents of Philippine Guerrillas, one of which "was very pregnant" and gave birth to a son before the sub arrived in Australia.
Indeed!
Was thinking the same thing!
I just had a thought. With the idea of staying quiet, do SSNs still use the diving and general quarters claxoms?
Yes
Kind of ironic, a tin cup falls on the floor and it's the end of the world, but a Claxton is okay.
Actually they now use a much quieter alarm! Plus, except when ordered to, coming into port or leaving it, they are always submerged....
PLEASANT ELEVATOR MUSIC IS USED NOW.
One of the nurses didn't understand how a submarine works. One said that it feels like they're sinking.
As we said in the Navy in Vietnam 1969: "Well done".☮
dammit Jim ..... I'm a ship captain ..- not a gynecologist !
Damn it Jim, when I wear a shirt, if chafes.
Is it just me, or does his engineering officer have a highland burr?.... and his exec have somewhat pointed ears?????
That was a good one. His dive officer should have been Chinese.
DeForest Kelley made a excellent hard bitten commander.
That was understandable! The Philippines was a great sadness but MacArthur issued these three words - ' I shall return!!!'
It doesn'tchange the bottom line:
HE LEFT HIS MEN. ☆
Good show and good presentation. However, I have to believe that after everything those brave nurses endured on Bataan and Corregidor they would not have been concerned with how they were dressed when they reached Australia. Hollywood must have its view.
I can see the C.O. ordering dress uniforms and makeup, including hair care, for the women, but Not fancy dresses!
Dam it Jim, it is my time to be shirtless but no girls on submarine yet.
Damn it Jim, I'm a Captain not a Taxi Driver !!!
Hmm ! Colourful language to be sure! Especially with a Destroyer around !

Your spelling is fucking awful. English teacher.
Bing Russell (Kurt's Dad) as Exec. officer.
USS Philadelphia SSN-690 used the same tagline.. "Philly Delivers"
Holy balls Jim! Why am I not a doctor?!!!!!
Hahahahaha
Lettuce near the end of a cruise!?
Dammit Jim I'm a doctor not a submariner!
How ironic......the sub is the Spear Fish
Wish i knew when this was filmed, must be late 50s or so.
this series ran 1957-1959...71 episode
"Close the hatches and die...." the orders EVERY American submariner wants to hear, lol!
Where is Captain Robert Brown?
Could be by watching this series on Tv this show more than any other i wanted to be a sonar man on a sub But, when I became of age the Navy recruiter told me I was a 4F
Oh blimey! IT IS DEFOREST KELLEY - I didn't know that he did this ???😮😮😮😮😮
Oh my! So this is where ' Operation Petticoat' partly originated.
red lead?
It's a type of rustproofing paint with bright red lead oxide pigment.
I just had a thought. Do SSNs, in the
What? You mean that none of our crew has the green blood of a Vulcan? And we are in a submarine named after a fish?
Won't hurt you girls to be uncomforyable for a while...1940's commander...lol
Great movie 4/10/24
Oh, the comments!!😆😂😆😂
It’s a good thing Ned Beatty isn’t in any of these episodes..... or is he?
That film would not be made today.
We sink ships and seal our lips.
Where the hell is John Wayne?????
Is it me or does this movie turn in to a 40s porn.. cause the great porn story

"Japanese come. We dive now." Did the actor just step off making a Western?
Philippine Engrish
Too bad William Shatner didnt get in on the action
