I feel like the part ”You closed your eyes, didn’t see me cry” means that Sei ignored Raina’s feelings. Hear me out on this theory: What if Raina and Sei had a good relationship at first, as (possibly) hinted in ”do you remember all the secrets you told me” and ”do you remember your lullaby”. These are good points in their relationship, they could tell each other things and back each other up. Then Sei started to get more and more busy, maybe with some kind of work or with friends, and Raina got left behind. They started prioritizing work/friends and forgot about her. This could (possibly) be hinted in the lines: ”You closed your eyes, didn’t see me cry” (they didn’t pay attention to Raina’s feelings) and ”Even though I am alone in this spotlight” ( maybe Sei promised to perform with Raina/watch her perform, but they didn’t show up). And in the Octopia news episode were Octoprism introduced Syzygy, Raina got upset and (I think) she said something along the lines of ”They think they can just show up here after all this time!” Maybe Raina didn’t mean ”they” as in Syzygy but as Sei since they use he/they pronouns! My second theory is that Sei was the reason Raina performed for a while, maybe they started prioritizing her fame rather then emotions after a while and kinda pushed her into performing? All the lines that showed Sei’s (potential) ignorance towards Raina’s feelings could still be applied here, maybe they didn’t really care for what she wanted? At one point, Raina was done with all of it. This can (possibly) be hinted in the lines ”I’m not singing/dancing for you”, Raina finally broke free from all of it and started to perform for herself instead of performing for Sei. I can't explain how much i relate with the lyrics of this song at this point. i've had a toxic relationship, and didn't realize until a good friend told me. i wouldn't believe that the toxic friend was toxic if i wasn't dumped for being emotional. i'm normally an emotional person, but the event of being dumped has scarred me for life.

This is an amazing song and character. The personality of Raina, the tune and beat of the song, the lyrics and the overall theme and aesthetic are just so fantastic. The general vibe I get from this seems to be hinting at something from her backstory- I'm thinking either about some she lost who, while they're on her mind and she wishes they were still here, they've moved on, and will no longer let grief get hold of them. It kinda has a hard time explaining the "I'm not singing/dancing for you" parts, but maybe it's supposed to mean she's done letting her grief drip into everything she does. Another idea, though, that might work better, is not losing someone, but rather escaping someone. Someone she thought was good, who would comfort her, ("Do you remember all the secrets you told me?" "How I closed my eyes wanting you to hold me" etc etc) but it turns out they did all that just to get her trust, to take advantage of her. Even though this is all on her mind, she isn't singing for whoever it is that hurt her. Edited to add: Also the more subtle side of things, like Raina's expression changing throughout the song, and the cheer effects added in at certain parts. Edit 2: oh, apparently editing causes UA-cam to automatically unheart the comment. Rip 🙁 But the point is still that the song is amazing. You've really done fantasticly, Koi. I've been getting back into Splatoon again after not playing much for about a year, maybe even two years... and I'm being reminded of how much I love the series. It has some kind of magical vibe that means a lot to me I guess... anyway i just wanted to say this kinda got to me emotionally. After listening a few more times it's really beautiful.
So after hearing the lore on your charecters during streams and watching P.O.P. turns out my little theory was a little wrong. So originally I thougth that, in this song, she was singing about her mother. When she says "I closed my eyes wanting you to hold me" I thought of when she was little and when her mother would hug her, and when she says "Do you remember your lullaby? You closed your eyes didn't see me cry" I thought of how she may remember the lullaby her mother sang her, you closed your eyes maybe referred to how her mother died or passed and closed her eyes in the process meaning her mother never saw her cry. But as you may know by now this song is about someone else so ye :]
In my POV, i think Raina was in a relationship with Sei (i commented here about whether it is and it got a heart so thats probably a yes). I have 2 scenarios on what happened next; 1. Raina was spending too much time with Bo to the point Sei got jealous. 2. Something happened to Raina (loss of a family member, etc.) and Sei didnt feel too much emotion about it, and Raina was currently in a phase which made her sensitive and starting an argument which ended up with them breaking up. Either way, Sei and Raina used to date (hehehe Seina) and just before the concert that Raina’s talking about here they broke up.
Honestly the amount of effort that went into this and the colouring the vocals and singing it’s quite obvious at whole lot of effort went into this video it’s amazing overall great job kaitlin!

So after hearing the lore on your charecters during streams and watching P.O.P. turns out my little theory was a little wrong. So originally I thougth that, in this song, she was singing about her mother. When she says "I closed my eyes wanting you to hold me" I thought of when she was little and when her mother would hug her, and when she says "Do you remember your lullaby? You closed your eyes didn't see me cry" I thought of how she may remember the lullaby her mother sang her, you closed your eyes maybe referred to how her mother died or passed and closed her eyes in the process meaning her mother never saw her cry. But as you may know by now this song is about someone else so

In my POV, i think Raina was in a relationship with Sei (i commented here about whether it is and it got a heart so thats probably a yes).
I have 2 scenarios on what happened next;
1. Raina was spending too much time with Bo to the point Sei got jealous.
2. Something happened to Raina (loss of a family member, etc.) and Sei didnt feel too much emotion about it, and Raina was currently in a phase which made her sensitive and starting an argument which ended up with them breaking up.
Either way, Sei and Raina used to date (hehehe Seina) and just before the concert that Raina’s talking about here they broke up.
