They are considered hybrid game boy color games games. Game boy color games that can be played on original game boy usually had a black cartridge (links awakening DX, pocket bomberman, megaman xtreme, ect). These "hybrid" games are not common but they generally fall under the category of game boy color games, because they were made with color in mind.
You're thinking about Donkey Kong Land which was an original game boy game, not a game boy color game. The gameboy color only had the first donkey kong country port. 2 and 3 were never made for the game boy color

Yeah, some things are a little screwy. Pokémon Crystal should be higher ranked than GS considering it's basically the same game with added features.
I recently set up another Raspberry pi with retropie, so I can explore more of the GBColour catalogue. Also the Atari 7800 catalogue.
