    I wish I knew of low melt solder a year ago. I struggled with a USB 3 port on a gaming laptop, and baked it in the oven for 10 minutes to evenly heat the board up (thinking it was a heat sucking ground plate issue), replaced the USB 3 port and now the motherboard shuts down straight after switching on. Expensive lesson! :(

    First of all, nice job! Secondly, I can't believe that a simple headphone jack needs 13 pins to be attached to the board. Thanks for another class. Greatings from Brazil

    Off topic; I just watched your "I prefer HDMI microscope and not Stereoscope". I have a microscope camera over my desk with HDMI into a monitor. It was fine for looking closely at small items to read numbers or look for defects. But when I started to practice micro soldering SMD; there is a time lag on the screen that screws up my timing trying to pick things up or place soldering iron on the pad to solder. Is the camera microscope you use more real time. Or have you just adapted to the time lag? Thanks

    • @NorthridgeFix
      @NorthridgeFix  3 роки тому +1

      The microscope we use has 0 Lag via HDMI and everything you see is in Realtime. Just make sure you are not using an ancient monitor with latency issues.

    Not surprised apple had problems with headphone jacks. Three of mine had a defective contact with one dead channel. One I try to fix, ended up burning off the traces, the other exchanged while still under warranty. Went around and around with Apple support trying to found fault with me, first testing for water intrusion or tempered with the case, none happened. Then a long while to admit one bad channels, it was intermittent. The remaining other, never use the jack again, bluetooth only. Most likely why Apple eliminated the infamous headphone jack.

For you professionals it’s a totally different game, you’re working with thousands of pounds/dollars/ euros worth of equipment in a day.

    Great job but different approach in the way you Desoldered the donor board and the customer board with the hotair. The donor board hotair was applied underneath and on customer board on top. You should have Desoldered with hotair the same way to do a fair comparison. Although you applied hot air in the same area but it was different approach to applying the hotair.
