    We use the brown paper stuffed into Amazon and other packages in between our garden rows. Keeps the weeds down yet it’s thin enough to let water through and breaks down easier than cardboard. Smooth it out and tightly roll up all during fall and winter shopping and it’ll be ready in the spring.

    The debates here in the US will have little to no effect on who I plan to vote for in November. I don’t support RFK Jr, but keeping him out of the debates is unfair. He does represent a portion of the population and should be allowed to participate, and then let the chips fall where they will. I doubt that I will watch anyway because I don’t want counted in ClownNewsNetwork’s viewership numbers.

      There are rules to being allowed to debate and RFK Jr. didn’t meet the requirements. It has nothing to do with being fair or not.

      @@barbaramccullough604Then the rules should be changed. I don’t support RFK Jr but to exclude him is wrong. We have to stop pretending that this entire situation isn’t happening like it is.

      True, RFK did not meet CNN’s rules/criteria to participate in their debate. RFK supposedly came up short in support based on polls. I have zero faith in polls even when they appear to support what I want. The rules are what I find unfair. In my mind, CNN will never be elevated to the point of telling me these 2 people are who they have decided based on polls, are my only choices and the only voices I can hear from in forming my decision about who to vote for a presidential election.

    I’ve heard the “debate” won’t be at all like previous ones and is already being tightly controlled and rehearsed. There’ll be no direct answering to each other and no real audience. Some are questioning if it will even be shown live without a substantial timed delay. I’m afraid this will be just another example of slanted American media propaganda and, sadly, hardly what I’d consider a debate. Biden’s behavior at public events are truly frightening; he can’t get through a 30 minute orchestrated and guided ceremony without noticeable difficulty. Canada is also suppressing speech and open info to its citizens, as you well know. Both of our governments are out of control.😢

    The Joe that shows up for the debate depends on the agenda of his handlers. Juice him up and have him look angry and strong or skip his nap and have home look old and senile. Joe is not in charge. He hasn’t been in charge for years, Obama is running the show and the agenda.

    Toni, newspaper also will kill your weeds. If you could put several layers between your plants and use the cardboard between your rows, then cover with straw, you will have many, many less weeds and with bare soil.

    • @HerHomesteadSkills
      @HerHomesteadSkills  3 місяці тому

      Thank You! yes covering the bare soil will work!

    • @karenallen1730

      @@HerHomesteadSkills You’re very welcome. It’s a bit of work initially, but it does the job, and you only have to do it once, unlike weeding which is a daily or weekly chore. You can easily tear or fold the newspaper to the size you need between plants. When I first started doing this, there was some concern about the ink in newspaper, but I was told that what is in use now, is environmentally friendly. Then use whatever source of cardboard you can get you hands on between rows. I break down & store most of the boxes I receive throughout the year just for this purpose & I cover them with wood chips because I like the look. When I removed all the grass in my back yard, I got lots of large, free sheets of cardboard from Costco. I usually end up repeating the process every couple of years, but I have a city property so the appearance matters. I use straw in my vegetable garden & in my raspberry patch, though. It’s not as attractive as the wood chips, but it’s a lot cheaper and much lighter. One bail should be all you need and Mark would probably lug it to the garden space for you. It doesn’t break down as readily as the cardboard, but it will help retain moisture in your beds so you don’t have to water as much. Also, if we get a downpour, the straw will allow you to still tend or harvest the garden without sinking in the mud. In the Fall, you might want to add another bail of straw to over winter the perennial plants. There is an argument to be made between straw and hay, also. You can look into that and decide what’s best for your area & purpose. I think there are seeds in the hay, but you want to ask about any chemical treatment the straw might have had before it was bailed. There are lots of farm supply stores near me, and thats were I go.

      Have you read Project 2025? If not do it. There are several reasons why I disagree. His policies benefited the wealthy and himself because of tax breaks for them and the violations of the emoluments clause particularly Article I, Section 9, Clause 8. He violated everything mentioned there. Although he didn’t take a salary he accepted foreign dollars which puts our country at risk. Federalist No. 65 also talks about this. When a presidential candidade wants to concentrate power in the Executive Branch that is a very dangerous move. The debate rules are clear and just because CNN is hosting has no bearing if it will be fair or not. I felt the same way when Fox hosted. And Biden will show up and his word finding issue is a stuttering problem often mistaken for dementia. Trump has had his share of dementia signs at rallies too I have watched them. Read all of Trump’s vills he signed, Executive Orders and Memorandums from when he was in office. He is also a convicted felon which these days does not seem to matter anymore. He was found guikty by a jury of his peers and no one else. What I will say is neither should be running for office. They are voth too old and out 9f touch with what the American people want.

But as a Jew I am a huge target in my town so I fly under the radar for the most. There are some things we have to watch out for down here in the states if we don’t fit the accepted mold so to speak.
