    I can’t find the article but I saw one time Mike referred to the full drive as the pedal to turn to when you’re tired of the “flavor of the day” and I’ve found that to be true always returning to it.

    Both sound great. My FD2 Mostet is like some undisputed champion though, all of the pedals it takes on it stays on the board. There is a weird thickness that Mike added to the tubescreamer sound which I just love.

    Still love my FD2 over anything else on the market. I've tried $500+ overdrives and its all this overcomplicated crap. This technology still beats anything in 2022

    FD2 all the way. I’ve owned both and the Maxon OD9 and others at the same time. The FD2 has more options which is great for almost any amplifier. I currently have two pre-mosfet “toggle” versions and one of these as I want to be sure that I’ve always got an FD2 for the win lol!

    I had a ts9 but sold it for a full drive. Pretty similar tbh. If you want to be traditional, definitely go for a ts9. But if you just wanna stand out and have a blue tube screamer, go for the fulldrive lol.
    You can’t go wrong with either

    I want to love the fulltone (cause I just got one at a really good price) but I don't. TS gets the job done. I have a TS mini and I matched it against full tone at home and the result was the same as in this video. Besides, this pedal takes a lot space. might flip the fulltone

      I think the Full drive sounds best. Its tone is amazing the more you crank it and the clarity is clearly brighter but not harsh. Lets the guitars tone shine through. The Ibanez sounded muddy and underwater.

    clearly the full tone. At least for the booster

    Why is the Tone ( full-up ) on the Fulldrive? Leads me to believe: it's a bass-heavy unit? I have the (1.7) OCD and love it. I also prefer the TS Mini ( true bypass & less compressed ).

      FullDrive in the “Vintage” mode sounds pretty dark to my ear. It’s a lot brighter on the “comp cut” mode. It’s not bass-heavy at all. Cuts low end like a TS does.

      The TS9 buffer is the best buffer ive encountered and I've personally built an implemented all 3 of the major types in my own builds. Just because a pedal is true bypass doesnt mean it's an improvement over the original often it's even of detriment. But more and more guitar players know less and less about the gear they use these days and demand features even when those features are in most cases a down grade. There are circuits that are great with buffers and others that arent. And situations that call for a buffer and others that dont. Just as not all buffers are equal (but again the transistor buffer type in a TS9 just so happens to be one of my favorite and I use it in my builds when it makes sense to do so). Typically analog modulation effects seem to have poor buffer interactions. And if you dont have a treble booster or a fuzz then a buffer is a great tool to fight tone loss. And even if you do have a vintage style fuzz or treble booster you can just place them before your first buffered pedal. As I mentioned I build pedals and have quite a collection I bought as well so my pedals are always fighting for space on my board and I have about 7 pedals ahead of my amp and about 8 in the loop at any given time. Without buffers I would sound like i was playing an arch top through a vintage/50s wired tele neck pickup 100% of the time. Buffers arent good or bad but there are good and bad buffers. The TS9 utilizes an excellent buffer type. I'm honestly sick of everyone bashing buffered pedals cause now every pedal is true bypass. You wouldn't want to live in a world with only men just like you don't want a pedal board with only true bypass pedals.

    Sorry, but, how can you compare 2 pedals when one, such as the Fulldrive is equipped with more knobs/switches:possibilities dan what the TS offers..

    • @pwbeninate
      @pwbeninate  7 днів тому

      You can play both of them, move the knobs around, and determine if they sound similar or different.

      @@pwbeninate Thanks I have the FD2 use with a les paul and fender amp for bedroom use. Currently doesn't work for me, thinking maybe its better at live volumes.

      Haha yes everything is better a gig volume! I use a Two Notes Captor X to crank my amp at home.
