In The Mix You motivate me so much dude, you seem to be so true in every video you make I believe in your every word.. If there is a possibility to contact you and ask you a question please let me know :)
My summary: 1. Envision yourself as being as good as other artists if you keep trying 2. Reflect on your past achievements and successes 3. Remind yourself why you're doing or learning it 4. Keep in mind what the results may be or already are, both financially and otherwise
To the point. I think the most powerful one is to keep reminding ourselves "Why" we love making music in the first place. Thank you for the inspiration 🙏
I appreciate your transparency. You're perspective felt like a breath of fresh air. Dont get me wrong, celebrities inspire me but sometime i need to hear this from someone thats more relatable. This is exactly what I Needed rn
I am currently hitting that time right now.... I feel quite unmotivated and this video helped a lot! I love how you explained it all You just helped not just me, but a lot of people who are struggling with this I currently have a problem where I feel too lazy at times, and I think to myself that my music is not that good compared to others... You are a lifesaver my guy, may God bless you. Now I have enough inspiration and determination to start working on my projects! Thank you! ❤️
Thanks for this. Some years back, I was diagnosed with reactive depression and so motivation for anything can be hard to find. I trained as a psychologist, so I decided to 'Premack' myself for one current project (writing some teaching text stuff for my old university)... but that didn't work. In the end, I had to go full on behavioural activation ... with a fixed ratio positive reinforcement schedule and immediate delivery of the actual reinforcer (one small glass of beer/cider per 150 sensible/relevant words written). In one evening and one afternoon, I got almost 1000 words into about 5000 to 7000 words of text aimed at teaching 2nd-year postgrads about mental health issues in the lives of autistic people (my main professional specialism). It was very important to have an _external_ motivator to start me off. I can rethink the FR value at some point and I can choose what subsection I work on to vary the focus of the content. I was very interested in watching this video and it was good to see someone advocating external motivators. Take care, man, and thanks for sharing what you do.
@Josiah D same here, MDD along w BPD, and a couple of other things too, Can fully relate to this conversation. It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one not only going through mental health illnesses but to be in the music production field, going solo w things and still have someone, actually a couple of people to relate to!
I recently made a commitment to spend at least half an hour in my daw every day, and 7 hours a week. So roughly an hour a day. Just to make sure that I keep making steady progress. Another part of this "training" I have going in on is binging your videos. Watching at least one a day. Which means rewatching a lot of them. But they are so full of info that I still learn a lot. Thanks for helping!!
Just the video i need my friend, since right now i;m less motivated in completing tracks...thank you very much..you really motivated not just me but all who subscribe to your channel...
The problem with me is not that it's a lack of motivation but the inspiration, most off what you're saying is exactly what I go through and actually do what you suggest eg. going back to my previous projects
Thanks man for this video. I really needed this at the moment with doing my GCSE’s this month and trying to stay on course with my music as well, I swear your a sidekick
Thanks man! I really felt struggled about making music because I keep comparing my music with music from professionals which is not realistic. I think just put in work and trust the process is really important
I've been so demotivated lately. I open up Fl studio and I feel nothing😪. I've been looking for ways to get back my motivation. This video just gave me a clue on where to start.
My "why" is that I love to see and be able to create beautiful things and see how far I can go even if I'm creating something simple or more complex (for art in general, not only music), it's joyfull for me and brings happiness to my life and potentially to people who watchs my content and listens my music. It's something fun that I enjoy to do, to learn, to create, to be inspired and I think art saves lifes. ♥ For me it's like playing, for example, when I'm painting, I see the colors, the brushes, the paper and it amazes me alot! (Then FL Studio has a brush, LOL! I felt like a happy kid when I saw this! I know, silly). 😹
Playing/learning/making music etc, Is very beneficial. It forces you to use your frontal lobe, which will improve cognitive function over time, thus making you smarter. Able to solve problems. Try to keep things in perspective. It’s practice over perfection. For there is always something to learn, skills to improve. Levels to climbed. Keep climbing 🧗♂️. Open your soul. Everyone who creates get into this problem. You, me, it's not something to beat yourself up about. This video is great and it really points out the ways to RE MOTIVATE you!🙂🍺
I feel lika motivation is a feeling. And like feelings they come and go. If you search for motivation it is never going to present itself like you want to. Make music anyways. Even if you don't feel like it at all and motivation will find you. 😊
there are those times when you get so down that you think life has no meaning and literally nothing is worth it, you just sit in your room or sleep all day - yes it's scary, but at the same time those times are the best. It's weird to explain, but the further you go, the more you keep looking for inspiration. It may take hours, it may take days, but when inspiration hits you are unstoppable. But overall when you hit the lowest of lows you realise that music is like therapy and you really start to make music for yourself - you are the creator and listener at the same time. When you combine those two things and start making music from the lonely, the one and only one point of view that's when it truly hits you and it's a guarantee that it will speak and connect deeply with the listener from outside. It's like you have to embrace the lonely aspect and just let it all go in one track. Good luck! :)
bro this is touching man. thank you so much for motivating, i’ve had the same thoughts as you were explaining in this video and though ones alone. thank you man🔥🙏🙏🖤🖤🔒
You're motivating me when it comes to mixing and mastering.. The way you teach makes it easy for us to understand and want to learn more.. Keep it up bro 🔥
Excellent and unassuming advice on a major aspect of the music making process. All 3 points good, but for me the standout is motivation from listening to music and feeling that urge to emulate or develop something similar. I hear the smooth guitar solo in Aimee Mann's Soon Enough or Joe Walsh effortlessly sliding around in Rocky Mountain Way and I want to pick up the guitar. Or Chris Squire's punchy bass on Yes's Roundabout, the lively line in Blockhead's Tricky Turtle or Paul Chamber's walking bass on Coltrane's Giant Steps get me reaching for the bass. Bob Dylan's Hurricane or any of the Incredible String band for the fiddle and Stravinsky's Orpheus for getting lost in sheer overwhelming beauty. Shame I can't play to any decent standard, but all these and a million more inspire me and help to stave off the aimless tinkering when I achieve nothing but a few isolated loops. Great series In The Mix. It has helped me to rapidly ramp up the technical efficiency of using FL Studio so can concentrate on the real purpose - making music.
I have seen this video 3 times in my music career already and I always find it useful. It helps me out everytime I get demotivated. I can organise my ideas and start again with a fresh brain. It inspires me to continue producing music. Thank you so much for all the work you are doing. I appreciate it a lot. 🙏💕
If I were to really dig deep into the core of my problem, it would be external factors such as task dues, audition pressure and overthinking really. Haven’t had a peace of mind to be able to stay motivated but still, thanks a lot for trying to help me :) means a lot to me as I have a big dream to live up to.

@In the Mix first of all thanks for this so inspiring channel, for almost a month now I have been watching at least 3-4 videos a day. I wanted to ask whether you can recommend also some other channels in addition which are also good for learning, or maybe free (or not too expensive) online courses? I am specifically interested in Techno music, but ofc also everyth related to FL Studio in general, music theory etc..thx
Sry you don't have to tell me to make music. I do atleast 3 hours session every day and on weekend 8-10 hours straight. But I still suck after 2 years.I often hate myself for not having a mix like the professionals.I give everything to finish a project after 17 hours and then i dont even get 1 like. This can be destroying but i keep doing it because i love it!
Not everybody that likes a video/audio will click 'like'. I often don't when I'm browsing UA-cam, and it's usually because 1. I don't think of it, and 2. there's another video I want to watch RIGHT NOW! The other side of that is I very rarely give a thumbs-down for much the same reasons. I'm an aging rocker, and much of the more 'modern' music just doesn't trip my trigger. That doesn't mean that I automatically don't like something simply because it's not what I call rock and roll. It just means that it's not my style. I still appreciate the skills necessary to create a piece, and the efforts that go into putting the various sounds together into a cohesive mix. Rhythm, rhyme and harmony are what do it for me, personally, even more than the genre. I visited your channel, and there is nothing there besides your motivational and reference tracks. Kinda hard to like what isn't there. Maybe put some of your work online so it can be experienced by others. Finally, keep this in mind: Fear of failure is super-common. However, if you don't even try, then you fail by default. What others think should never define you to yourself, but rather show you places where you might need to revise something, or perhaps need to learn something, or even show you where something might not fit just right. Most of all, keep trying.
Hey @@OGSontar I forgot to write you back! This is my new channel where i post my music from now on. I tried it on Sc almost a year but I still get 5 clicks.. I won't give up :/
Would you have any advice in terms of music theory and ability to apply that with midi keys? Most important parts, how much do you truly need to put some nice progressions, harmony and melodies etc. so many nice synths out there yet I can’t exactly apply myself to them much at all.
I looked for a UA-cam video for inspiration and found this UA-cam video telling me to look for UA-cam videos for inspiration! I think I’ll just go make music.
I love music and also i love painting so i kinda confuse which am i going to pick , at the end im doing both but every body was saying i should learn and focus more on painting and drop music . I cant do that so im just ignoring them but whenever i start to write songs i just felt lazy and i dont have motivation . I really want to become a music producer but at the same time painter . This helps me thankyou so much .
Mike, it's harder for me to grasp the concept having that A.D.D crap- I get irritated rather quickly but I just take breaks when that happens, because you're right-music is fun- I had this issue today where I am working on this beautiful melody and after getting everything sounding like I wanted-SPAN was telling me I was "clipping" I kept lowering volume all over trying to pinpoint where the "clipping" was located- wondering how it was even possible to clip at such a low volume level of all my instruments and overall volume- I was really mad- but after stepping away, I went into my master bus and went into my EQ and found the issues so I cut the freq's that were giving me the problems! Now i'm taking another break because there is another "issue" I want to overcome and that is the overall volume of my mix before I master it- which would benefit more? volume of -2 or -3? overall for the entire mix? Me I was leaning towards -2 before I master (hope i'm right!)
That was really helpful ! Thank so much for that! If it isn't too much trouble, would you please do a basic tutorial on how you would go around mastering a song? I'm learning mixing through your videos, mastering is something i'm struggling in. Thank you again, Love from India !
Struggling to find out drive to push forward yourself : music Look backwards at times to gain motivation when you have plateaud after consistent learning Other times look forward And backbone reasons behind the goal
Man it's been hard for me to just go In the studio.. I get home from work tired AF.. I LOVE making music.. I get inspired always when I'm AT work... I feel motivated when... U guessed it. I'm at work... Frustrating... I get home... I look in the studio, then I keep walking and go relax.,watch UA-cam or Netflix .. Anyway great video I'm sure I'll find my place and time to get back in the studio.... The feeling is there.... But my timing is off. OK rant over

Excellent and unassuming advice on a major aspect of the music making process. Well, you are my go-to motivation channel, so thank you for that! You wanna help people? you've helped me a lot, keep up the great work!
Good to know it was not just me feeling this way…
Wonderful. Good advice
Thanks bro, now i feel very energetic.
Your videos motivates me so much❤❤
Mike, it's harder for me to grasp the concept having that A.D.D crap- I get irritated rather quickly but I just take breaks when that happens, because you're right-music is fun- I had this issue today where I am working on this beautiful melody and after getting everything sounding like I wanted-SPAN was telling me I was "clipping" I kept lowering volume all over trying to pinpoint where the "clipping" was located- wondering how it was even possible to clip at such a low volume level of all my instruments and overall volume- I was really mad- but after stepping away, I went into my master bus and went into my EQ and found the issues so I cut the freq's that were giving me the problems!
Now i'm taking another break because there is another "issue" I want to overcome and that is the overall volume of my mix before I master it- which would benefit more? volume of -2 or -3? overall for the entire mix? Me I was leaning towards -2 before I master (hope i'm right!)
This is so well said! Thank you for this :)
Best video.
Hey guys please make a next video on
How to keep your audio equipment in best conditions???
Great points thank you!
That was really helpful ! Thank so much for that! If it isn't too much trouble, would you please do a basic tutorial on how you would go around mastering a song? I'm learning mixing through your videos, mastering is something i'm struggling in. Thank you again, Love from India !

Struggling to find out drive to push forward yourself : music
Look backwards at times to gain motivation when you have plateaud after consistent learning
Other times look forward
And backbone reasons behind the goal
Man it's been hard for me to just go In the studio.. I get home from work tired AF.. I LOVE making music.. I get inspired always when I'm AT work... I feel motivated when... U guessed it. I'm at work... Frustrating... I get home... I look in the studio, then I keep walking and go relax.,watch UA-cam or Netflix .. Anyway great video I'm sure I'll find my place and time to get back in the studio.... The feeling is there.... But my timing is off. OK rant over
