Buck regulators actually convert from higher voltage to lower, like 5V to 3V. There are other dc/dc converter topologies though that will boost the voltage ie. step up, like from 5V to 9V. I wonder if the adapter is actually a quick charge compatible device that just asks 9V from QC charger rather than converting voltage at all (or if it is QC3.0 it can ask for other voltages too but 9V QC2 cords seem the most common). Easy to measure if you have a meter. If it works with GH5 it must be at least 8.5V (or chipped), if not GH5 will refuse to work with it unlike with say 8.5V or 9V that it assumes an ac adapter and is just happy.
It should work because it's upvoted in the adapter, and the front of the camera should have a little rubber "door" that pops out of the way to let the cable out.
Hi Anthony - Don Smith here, KK5DON. I have a GH4 that I set aside several years ago and haven't used since. Using it as another angle for presentation videos is a great idea. However, the lens I had on it is now on a BMD 4k. Can you suggest a low-cost lens with auto-focus to use on my GH4?
Amazing video ! Been looking for this for a while !

Hi, I don’t think this will work on my gh5. 8.4V and no possibility to get the cable out of the bat. comp.

Thank you for your swift reply and I found the “door”, Frans

My basic go to lens is the 12-35 2.8. Shallow enough DoF while still providing a god general zoom range for proper framing.
I don’t think this will work on my gh5, 8.4V and there is no way I can get the cable out of my bat compartment.
Can i use the g7 as a webcam ?
Yes, I will be doing this soon.
