Thanks so much. I thought I was getting such a "great" deal when I bought this open box unit from the man who brought it in to exchange it for a higher end model. He said it was great until he tried to upgrade it and found he had to COMPLETELY disassemble it just to add a stick of 8 GB (vs the 4 GB I have in it). So, still it was 1 week old, the man did not even try to upgrade it.....he just swapped it. So, we went to the customer service counter and I got it for $179, and then can give my Microsoft Surface RT 32 to my daughter for X-Mas. Well, I tried to follow You tube instructions, but the cabling and screws inside a laptop are fragile, easy to drop and lose down in the frame, and you can irreparably damage it if you tug too hard on the wrong thing. This is an ADVANCED tear down, and I recommend that only a certified technician fool with it in order to keep my/your "great" deal still at least a "good" deal. I would pay $30 to $50 for a computer store to do it. Not a penny more. This will be done today.
Chris Skalski I have the AMD A10 version of this model. I upgraded the RAM, WiFi/Bluetooth card, replaced both the HDD and optical drive with a SSD each. (Used a caddy, for the latter, of course.) It was time consuming, yes, but the speed boost and better internet connection were completely worth it. I'm far from a professional tech, but if I can do it, you can do it.
I have the 571P touchscreen version without the optical drive. Can i remove the black plastic enclosure and replace it with a caddy that has HDD or SSD for additional storage? If i can can u provide me with a link from amazon or ebay of which caddy i need to purchase. Tk u sir.

Hi Cris its me again about this laptop, so we got new internet modem which does 5ghz wifi however my laptop recognize 2ghz only. What would you recommend should change wifi pci card on it or try update driver? If change it which one can do 5ghz wifi? Thanks

The unit described here has an Intel Celeron Dual core processor and runs 64 bit operating systems like Win 8, 8.1 and 10, which is either already installed or will start a free upgrade as soon as it completes it's initial setup. There are a wide variety of processors on this chassis, but the lack if a hard drive and RAM removal hatch on the bottom of the unit is unexcusable IMO. I am keeping it because it is chock full of what I like, and I got it for $179 with 64 bit O/S capabiity, 500 GB HDD, 4GB RAM, Win 10, and office 365 permanent full home version. I am a Network Engineer , and again, upgrading thisvunit is not for armchair techs...you can kill your machine. I saw one DIY where the "tech" did not even remove the battery. What the heck is wrong with him??? Also, if you feel comfortable streamlining your PC for improved performance without upgrading any hardware; uninstall all the Acer bloatware from the control panel. You don't need ANY of it. Also I use AVG free version and have been using it for 10 years on 3 different machines. Hi CHris, You would not believe it but I was upgrading to 8 gb ram, then I bought one module and disassembly my laptop then noticed instantly it has got 2 Ram slots there instead of one, so I installed 1 8gb ram module and its working nice but wondering it would better to use 2x 4 gb ram as dual instead of 1x 8gb stick also any better performance if I put 8 gb and 4 gb all 12 gb ram together? I was wondering the same thing! I've just opened mine, which is the exact same model, and there is none. Neither in his video there is none. And my issue is coming from that, meaning that the laptop always resets its date to the one it was manufactured!
@@Astristuli don't know if you still want to fix this, but i have this piece of e waste open in front of me right now for a family member. Tha battery is a little higher and a little to the right of the SD card reader (which is on the bottom left corner of the mainboard) it is a small blue battery held down by electrical tape, but it does not look user replaceable since is seems to be soldered to the connectors) you can also see it at 4:03

Formatear e instalar Windows 7 Y bla bla bla bla El caso que no funciono, una vez en el administrador de discos, inserto el disco duro pero no lo reconoce el administrador, no lo muestra, creo que era obvio, pensando más entendí Pues ahí acabo mi internado de volver a revivir esta wea (Pd: con el disco duro el instalador de Windows no inicia, se queda en “el instalar de Windows se está iniciando” y pues ahí pa'siempre

Is this the E5-511-P1RJ? Case and battery configuration look the same, but the Acer website says this model only has 1 RAM slot. I don't know why it's so hard to find these specific models; there seems to be a different computer in every E5-511 disassembly video. Good video anyway, thanks.

As far as maintenance and upgrading go, Acer are by far the worst designed Laptops I've ever come across, and I've been fixing Laptops since 1989

If Im not mistaken the max ram for this laptop is 8g. Any more than that and you're just throwing away money.

My best guess would be water damage. There is no fix for this, you'll need to get a new laptop.
