I saw in your stories that people were roasting you for claiming mennonite. I don't think everyone out there realizes that there is a HUGE variety of mennonites. I personally love knowing that you have a background like that because I know that you really would know the secret to homemaking. Please don't be ashamed of your heritage. There are so many people out there that would love to be able to claim a heritage like that! You are so sweet and have a lovely personality. You are someone I admire!
My husband is Mennonite and all the videos I have seen on UA-cam of Mennonite homemaking, is so different from his family, I was blown away with how many varieties there are because here in west Texas, they are all similar to each other and not different from what I have been watching
You seem like a lovely person, inside and out. This video brought back so many memories of Sunday dinners growing up in a Mennonite family. Your food all looks delicious! Don’t worry about the hateful comments. God knows your heart is good. Now you should show us a traditional Russian Mennonite meal.
I’m old enough to be your mom.I was so upset to learn about inconsiderate people “judging” you. The truth of the matter is you are Mennonite, and should not be ashamed of your faith and culture. On the contrary, you should embrace it and continue to share it with your devoted viewers. I appreciate all the effort you put into your videos. You are so talented! And most of all I love your servants heart that seeks To God be the Glory!
My family is Appalachian Mennonite and it's always so sweet to see the variants of cooking from the different areas and/or denominations of Mennonite churches. I understand alot of misconception from those unexperienced with the faith and some think we all dress Amish but truth is it varies from old school Mennonites who do dress and live vary Amish like all the way to jeans or heels lol. I just love your content and appreciate your sharing your recipes!
Please don’t let people get you down about your Christianity and or your culture. I think it’s great to see a nice Christian family out there. God bless you and your family. Duane.
I stumbled upon your channel and I love your content. You have such a kind personality as well! This video really did make me hungry and gave lots of inspiration as well!
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, and I am loving it! How could corn not be good with that much butter?! Your home is so lovely, as is your videography!
I come from a different upbringing but this was soo sweet to watch. You have a lovely personality and I will definitely be checking out more of your videos!
I'm from Southern MB, and I enjoy seeing what other Mennonites cook. Looks delicious. I have tried the famous browned butter but much prefer schmaundt fat.
I just love your videos! You seem like such a kind and fun person❤ The food all looks amazing and now I'm so hungry! I grew up with those kinds of Sunday dinners too. We are not at a Mennonite church anymore but I still have a lot of the culture in my blood and love cooking for my family.😊
I just found your channel & your sweet, happy spirit is contagious! & you were very sweet with your beautiful baby. Definitely trying ALL these recipes!!
My word I love and enjoy your channel SO much!!! Your dinner looks amazing! I love cooking and baking also and once made a Heath bar pie that my husband absolutely enjoyed! I usually make a Dutch apple pie for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. My sons favorite is my pumpkin roll. And then of course all the sides that come along with the dinner. I always make too much and then we have leftovers for almost a week lol! I found you when I saw your video on your journey with Lyme disease. I was just diagnosed with chronic Lyme about 3 weeks ago. Cry! 😔😭 I also have leaky gut so I am doing the GAPS diet and also under the care of a Naturopath who has started me on LDA (low dose allergy) Immunotherapy to help with food sensitivities and asthma I acquired due to my leaky gut. It’s been a long tough road and will be a long road yet to healing. Please pray for me, I would appreciate it! You are amazing and make me feel so nostalgic watching you! Thank you for sharing your days with us! God bless you! ❤️
All looks delicious, I would love to see some of your Russian dinner recipes. I would like to bring back the big Sunday dinner in my family we seemed to have gotten away from it over the years.
New to your channel I just happened to come across your video and everything looks amazing I can't wait to try them I love Mennonite cooking I watch a few Mennonite women on UA-cam that that do cooking videos and everything is always looking so delicious makes my mouth water just thinking about it! You seem amazing you seem like an amazing mother an amazing wife and just an amazing woman never let those comments get you down like the other lady said in the comments God knows that your heart is true! God bless!
Hi 👋🏾 I’m new to the channel and I want to let you know jist how much of a sweet personality you have. Thank you for sharing your wonderful family and content. Have a blessed week my darlings 🙏🏽🌼😘🤍🌼😘🤍
Wow I can't belive that your subscribers are so low. Your videos seem so professional and amazing to watch ❤️. Definitely deserve way more views and subscribers!
Hi! Ran into your video an I really enjoyed it. I'm also a Mennonite! I was born in Mexico an raised in Texas. I'm beginning to learn that there are alot of Mennonites living in other parts of the U.S. Until now I just thought they were more in Canada, Mexico and Texas.
Many many years ago, I went to Lancaster with my girl scout troop, and had ham balls for the first time. I was a kid, and they became my most favorite thing ever. I remember my grandmother trying to recreate them for me based on my description. Last year, my hubby and I revisited the area and I fell in love with them all over again. I've made them every month since. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe.
Just want to say...I still identify Mennonite even tho I don't look Mennonite. I think ppl get held up on and put Mennonite in a box...just like they do God. It's sad. Do what your heart desires Steph!! Love your videos!!
Thank you 💗 The Bible says “the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked” so my desire is not to be focused on what “I” want but about learning more about Jesus and seeking to honor Him! Thanks for your kind words!
I use a combination of unseasoned ground pork and ground smoked pork chops (rather than ham) to make ham loaf, instead of ham balls - salt, pepper, a bit of breadcrumbs, and milk to bind. Bake 60-75 minutes in a moderate oven. West Michigan here, with a heavy Dutch and German influence. ‘Vanden Brink Pork Meatloaf’ is sold in our grocery stores - that’s actually an updated name; it used to be marketed as ‘savory ham loaf.’ My grandma served it every year at Christmas. A friend of mine worked at Ada Valley Meats and he told me they used smoked pork chops instead of ham, so when I started making it from scratch, that’s what I settled on. Delicious! I love how different food traditions come together!
Hi! I loved your intro: : the music was on point and it was warm and fuzzy and the videography was gorgeous! Have a blessed day❤️ PS if I may ask with what camera are you filming please?
We are in York 😁 I am going to try out this recipe for our Sunday night family dinners with my husband's side of the family. I might have to tripple the recipe though haha.. just found you! You are a delight! 😍
Ahh! Ham balls! We love the ham balls at Shady Maple! I can smell them through the screen. I will be making this whole meal on a Sunday very soon 🤍 Hi from York, PA
I am hungrey nowww.... 😄 , l am Russian mennonite , but joined the Swiss mennonites here in Canada , for 16 yrs. so was really able to relate to the food differences. 😀
I love menonite culture! Although I did not grow up as a menonite, I grew up as a pentecostal protestant, I identify with many things. Maybe it was because we read the same Bible and believe in the same God. 😉 I mean we're bound to have similarities, right? I looked up this video because I have been wanting to get together with my family for Sunday lunch and dinner. We usually go out to eat or everyone else does their own thing, but it's so much fun when we get together. Thank you for the recipes and keep making these homemaking videos. Soon we'll have a generation hungry for homemaking. God bless you! 🥰
“Anybody want food”!! Was my absolute favorite part of the video! Sounds like me telling for my fam at dinner time! Lol! Love your cooking! Def subscribing!
I would love to see how you make varanakje. I grew up making them but I would love to see if yours are different. We make ours with homemade cottage cheese on the inside. Also watermelon n rollkucken are the best summer meals 😋
Hi Steph. Found your channel and started binge watching. Love it. I question why you do not wear a head covering? Anyway, please do more cooking videos. Thanks

Don't ever be ashamed of your faith. People are going to be people. Is a sensitive world now a days is like they want to shut people out of believing in God. Good day. Did you mean to say ground "ham"? Ground pork, is very different from ground ham. Hamballs made in Lancaster, PA style are usually straight up ground HAM OR a mixture of ground ham, ground pork, and bacon. Does your family originate from Iowa? Because my Mennonite Iowa cousins make their hamballs differently than ours :) There was always lighthearted competition between Iowa and Lancaster cousins at our gatherings :) Thank you for your lovely channel! ~Roxxie Ruthie ~
@@thisgoldenhourThat was a lovely and delicious looking dinner that you made! When you said verenikje, rollkuchen and rabooz(?sp), I knew you must have grown up speaking Low German. My Mom also made a delicious Sunday dinner (we called it lunch), ours was usually homegrown chicken and potatoes!...I can't remember the veggies...probably not a favorite of mine at that time! I am also a Low German speaking Mennonite from Canada! JUst happen to see your channel in my feed. Thank you.

That’s so fun! And yes, I meant ground ham 😅 my family originates from Canada 😉
Thank you.
@@diannerempel8262 oh wow, that’s so neat! Yes I grew up speaking low German 😊 your mom’s Sunday lunch sounds delicious!

The audio is all over the place. Like the cat got caught in the blender.
You set that dough on the floor and I thought that’s a bad idea. But you probably don’t have dogs. 😂
Haha no house dogs here 😉
