This is so tantalisingly short! Just when your appetite gets whetted by Khansahib's magisterial insights, it ends! Thanks for making even this fragment available to us.

Mushtaq Ali Khansaheb went out of the way to encourage the next generation of sitar players, in an entirely selfless way.

Thanks Vinay ji . Indeed he was genuinely a musician's musician , and freely shared his knowledge with his disciples .
The only regret is that no recording of him playing Maseetkhani gat are available even though he was a direct descendant of Sh. Maseet khan !!

@@ramaxim9699 That may be because sitariyas, sarodiyas etc play aalaap for hours on end So there is little scope for MaseetKhani gat after that. That said he played a Maseetkhani Gat in Kedar ( followed by a Rezakhani Gat) in Madras in 1956. Radio Sangeet Sammelan Nov 1956. I am sure you have it ...

@@ramaxim9699 There are several recordings available, actually. His one-hour Mian Malhar broadcast subsequently released commercially is a true benchmark. I have a couple of Kedars and (I think) a Lalit too, all featuring Masitkhani Gats.
