Thanks! I really like it. One thing I would do in the future is to paint the back of it to keep light from coming out. I went back and did this couple months latter.
@cabovergary at 2:19 that oem fiber optic connection. I got a spare I'm trying with. Questions: How did you wire the new light strips to that connection? Where did you purchase your light strips? It's holliday season and all I'm getting back in my search are green Christmas lights! Thanks in advance
Hello, so I cut the fiber optic deal out and used the power from that light bulb to power the lights. So, if I type 12v led strip they pop up for me. I dunno if that helps. I also would paint the back of the glue with some black paint. Couple coats because I am getting some light come up from behind the dash. Thanks for watching.
Looks Awesome. Question. How did you cut up the strips and wire them in? Like how did you attach all the wiring to the individual strips? And any tips on cutting them? Thanks
So, the lights have marks where it can be cut, and you just use sissors. Then you can clean the rubber coating off and soldier to the copper on them. They are marked positive and negative. It is on the finer side of soldier. And after I posted this I would suggest using black glue sticks which can be ordered on Amazon or paint the back to keep the light from shining though the back. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Do the FLD’s and the Classic’s interchange on some of those dash parts do you know? I have had a heck of a time trying to find dash parts for my 92 cabover. Thanks and awesome rig!
To my knowledge the upper dash is the same except on a cab over you have a added section in the middle to make it wider. I also believe the side with the hvac setup is the same but could be wrong. To me this is what makes the freightliner better to own in there old age because most fld parts interchange. Like doors and dash. Thanks for watching and commentjng.
That’s cool to hear. Something I went back and did is a couple coats of black paint over the top of the hot glue. It had light bleeding though. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@cabovergary Sadly mine didn’t work and I checked over and the sensor for the tach was super loose and I tightened it but it doesn’t function properly and someone snapped one of the studs off from my speedometer sensor so it’s definitely needing replacement. I’ve watched some videos on replacing them but nobody says how far to thread them in. I’m assuming until they bottom out then back them off slightly and tighten the jam nut.
I guess what I should of asked is if your shafts are all the same size where the knob sits or is the blue one thicker then the red and yellow one or are all three the same size shaft
So, I took the factory pieces off and steamed the original vinyl off and then ordered some new vinyl off Amazon and recovered them. I was going for a lighter interior because felt truck was to dark inside. Thanks for watching and commenting n
Is there a different name for the fiber-optic system because when I look it up I don't see nothing about it on the internet. I need a new one for a 1995 fld
I don't know what freighliner called the fiber optic deal. what I did was take it out and just used led tape light. just make sure there 12 volt thanks
Yea the fld should be the same. I took the panels off and steamed the old vinyl off and put new on. Hardest part was the disassembly and the re assembly. Thanks for watching and commenting
I’ve done it all my self. It used to be blue. I think there some videos about a year back when I got a over head console out of a junkyard and pulled my whole interior and re did it. Thanks for watching
Beautiful job
Thanks!
Good result. Your truck looks really well cared for.
Thanks. I try hard to keep it up
Well done Gary, I recently purchased an FLC120 I will have to try this on... Thanks for sharing! Rob
Thanks for watching. Love a classic!
Great job, I like the outcome 😊
Thanks. I really enjoy them now.
LIKE YOUR CABOVER AND THE WAY YOU TAKES CARE OF IT.
Thanks! It’s kinda my baby!
That was a nice fix. I'd say the results were worth the effort.
Thanks. I’m pretty happy with the results.
Looks good 👍
Thanks
Ive been wanting to do this but didnt know how it would look. looks awsome!!!!!! thanks for the video

@@cabovergary did you power the strip directly to the trucks marker light toggle or did you have to use some kind of inline power converter in between
Thanks for the video! ive always wanted to do this but didnt know how to. sooner or later im going to attempt to do the same thing in my t600
No problem. Thanks for watching and hope it helps.

Man on my 96 fld those lights never worked and on my 97 classic same thing lol im doing the same thing you did with my 97 this weekend finally
Yea I never seen a truck that they worked on.
Nice. I loved it when I did mine
Gary that looks awesome, I’m going to steel that idea from you some day! But different color!
Thanks! I really like it. I think next time I would paint the back of it after to keep light from bleeding though. Thanks for watching and commenting

From this simple video, you've gained a new sub.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy

Thanks
Thanks for sharing! I’ll be doing that to both of my Freightliner Flc120’s as one don’t work and the other is very dim.
Thanks for watching! You will love being able to see them agin!

Random question, you ever had to replace the electric sensor for the tachometer or speedometer before?
I haven’t. They both worked no issue. Some of the other gauges whereby working and I replaced all but the speedo and tach with vdo vision gauges

I like what you been doing with your truck. It so weird to see the steering wheel on the other side. Thanks for watching
@@cabovergary Thanks buddy. I have to keep remembering to flip some of my shots to the right side on the editor but sometimes I forget🤣
Where did you buy the knobs for the parking brakes?
Off eBay but I make the labels on my vinyl cutter. They were just chrome blank when I got them. Thanks
I have a Freightliner classic with the 3 knobs like that I ordered some but the blue one seems to be bigger and I can’t find one for it
If you order the ones that take the bubble sticker on it you can peel it off and have any sign shop make you labels for them.
I guess what I should of asked is if your shafts are all the same size where the knob sits or is the blue one thicker then the red and yellow one or are all three the same size shaft

Mine work but need new fiber optic wires. To replace the ones that don't. Does anyone now how or where to find them?
I think under the fld vin you can get. That was 3-4 years ago though
Mine is backlit
I added a led bulb to that optic
It lights up good? Mine didn’t. I think my fiber optics were damaged though.
