Yes, Charlie's drumming holds the whole track together. I grew up with the Stones, Beatles, Who etc and and still enjoy music from this era immensely. I consider myself to be very fortunate.
The Beatles and Who were lame compared to this band. Even without Mick Taylor they still amaze me with the entire Stones magical Aurora of just the best showmanship the greatest junkies in Rock history that seems immortal. Keith and Ronnie aren't great musicians they are good. Very good. They bring out Clapton and Buddy Guy when their concerts need that Mick Taylor magic. @@peterbartolomeo5542 I prefer The Beatles... one of bands that paved the path to progressive rock. Not trying to dismiss Charlie Watts & Bill Wyman, but it's pretty obvious Keith Moon and John Entwistle's playing style are different: lead like, which provide more "ooompph" on my ears. Watts is no doubt a solid timekeeper but he just stayed happily on background. Even old school jazz drummers using smallish drum kit like Gene Krupa sounded more dynamic than him. An incredible track. Charlie’s funkiest drumming, Keef’s nastiest licks. Jagger never sounded more like a serpent, menacing and charming; lyrics both articulate and nasty. An arrangement that goes from haunting to raunchy to anthemic and back to raunch-n-roll at its finest. Sublime.

He had done masterful work during his long tenure with the group, but undoubtedly this classic track was his finest accomplishment for all time. He may not rank with the likes of Keith Moon and the legendary John Bonham (may they RIP) yet Watts had proven righteously as a skillful and gifted percussionist throughout the fabulous decade of the 60s into the 80s' Rock and Roll. Years ago, after i got out of the Marines, me,my girlfriend Laura, and another girl Theresa all dropped acid. Suddenly, middle of the night, tripping balls, Theresa said she had to go home. Curfew. @@jeanneobrien7381 Love Sticky FIngers. But Exile on Main Street first and Let Bleed second are my favorites. Sticky FIngers and Beggars Banquet are next, in any order you prefer. Sticky Fingers a Great Rock album I always loved (Can't you Hear Me Knockin' and Moonlight Mile, etc.) with one or two Country songs. Beggars Banquet a great Country Album with a few good rock songs (Street Fightin' Man) on it--give Prodigal Son a listen. Glad you are a big Stones fan like me, especially from 1968 - 1972.
This song has a lot of meaning for me. My Step-father convinced my mother that I was a bad influence on my sister and brother and asked me to leave home. I was 16 and a junior at HS. I dropped out and got a full time job at Pronto Market (Today it's Trader Joe's). I rented a 2 bedroom apartment on Westwood Bl in LA. I was an angry and began a self destructive lifestyle that almost killed me many times. For me, this song represented my rebellious screw you to my parents and the world. The rest of this story would make a good book as I began drug smuggling across the border. It's a miracle that I am here in my 70's writing this.
keys: Nicky Hopkins. played for Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Who, the Beatles, the Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, Rod Stewart, George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, The Hollies, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Harry Nilsson, Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Jerry Garcia, Jeff Beck, Joe Cocker, Art Garfunkel, Badfinger, Graham Parker, Gary Moore, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Donovan.
I was born in 1958 and have been listening to this music all my life. It's part of who I am. Do you give a shit? Well probably not but my intention isn't to make you care it's to simply declare my love for a sound that is in my musical DNA. That is magical to me, and carries with it a thousand memories across 6 decades.
What I like about this is it's the Stones at their very creative peak, the zenith and no Jones or Taylor contributions but better yet none of their fans trolling here, all respect to them as musicians and their roles played in the band but their fans who slag off Mick and keith are boring and misguided. This is pure Rolling Stones and at their very finest creative peak, that's right, Mick, Keith, Charlie and Bill. Nicky Hopkins on keyboard is nice too. Same line up as Sympthy for the Devil, Midnight Rambler and Gimme Shelter. Really the very best Stones songs were done at this moment along with Bobby Keys starting with them on Live with Me.
I've often thought the same thing about this album. No Brian or Mick T, just sheer creative genius of Mick and Keith and some insanely phenomenal drumming by Charlie.
@@vinceiverson8253 As a big fan of the entire career of the Stones it’s hard to say which is their best album. I love ROLLING STONES NOW! Beggars Banquet, sticky fingers, Some Girls but truthfully Let it Bleed is probably their most original record yet Sympathy for the Devil, Jumping Jack Flash and Street Fighting Man off Beggars are maybe the best songs. It was just a tremendously creative time for Jagger/Richards. Imagine at the time of Exile on Mainstreet it was criticized for not making the mark of the previous three records as great as it was, it wasn’t the same level of creative originality that those other albums were.
at last, i found someone who knows his stones...beggars banquet and let it bleed + jumping jack flash is their best studio work without doubt...and goddamn it mick is singing like a beast...i would put memo from turner(movie version) here too if only mick and keith werent feuding about anita...ry cooder could have been a better stone than taylor imo, taylor was too much ''clapton'' for my taste...
Denis Liber yeah I love the PERFORMANCE version of Memo from Turner too. Ry Cooder almost did join and would have been great but I don’t think he nor Wayne Perkins really would’ve meshed well in personality with Mick and Keith. I agree with you that Taylor as good as Taylor was he’s kind of in the shadow of Clapton but that worked. The band was great either way. The songs, the core members and the guest musicians all did the job to compliment Jagger and Richards. Charlie Watts was undoubtedly the great master of groove.
Mick's vocals on this song are so raw and wild - the epitome of rock 'n' roll.

Charlie kicks ass on this song. Awesome drumming.
You and Joe have much delusion in common
This riff is incredible, Kieth is a mastermind
*Keith
keys: Nicky Hopkins.
played for Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Who, the Beatles, the Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, Rod Stewart, George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, The Hollies, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Harry Nilsson, Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Jerry Garcia, Jeff Beck, Joe Cocker, Art Garfunkel, Badfinger, Graham Parker, Gary Moore, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Donovan.
Pure down & dirty rock n roll.
Keith's guitar playin is sooo ruff 😊
This is The Stones.

Nice to be on this site ....Stone's soul brothers .......once you love the Stones ....it"s a drug thats hard to shrug
I was born in 1958 and have been listening to this music all my life. It's part of who I am. Do you give a shit? Well probably not but my intention isn't to make you care it's to simply declare my love for a sound that is in my musical DNA. That is magical to me, and carries with it a thousand memories across 6 decades.
bluesborn fuck yeah!
Man, some effort was put into this video. Somebody give it an award.
1:36 we love to play da blues. (A truer stones lyric never spoken)
The perfection strike from Beggars Banquet to Exile on Main St. is the highest quality rock n roll music has ever achieved.
Favorite Stones song
Magic masters of music
Keef Riffhard, one of his best riffs, ever!

The Rolling Stones always have the best music lyric videos EVER!

It makes sense you just don't know how to listen
Man, this is epic. My favourite song re-imagined in such a touching way. Thank You and the Stones.
