* Also, I feel like I wasn't as clear as I wish I was in the vlog, the makeup container cracking was 110% my fault and not the movers in any way. It was already in poor condition and I threw it, unwrapped, in the bottom of a HUGE box and piled random heavy stuff on top of it.

I agree, it’s more realistic to the average person. I live in the area and dc 1 bedrooms in dc that are luxury start no lower than $2500 these day lol

I've really enjoyed your last two apartments but this one has to be my favorite! It has so much more character than the others - I love the floors and the fireplace. And honestly, the darker bedroom might work to your advantage to sleep. I try to spend only my sleeping hours in my bedroom to the point where I don't even have a lamp in there! So much better for my mental health to spend waking hours in my living space, and sleeping hours in my bedroom.

Love your new apartment! I was shaking my head NO to garbage in the dining area. Super inconvenient. I think downsizing to one under the kitchen sink is the way to go. Maybe you can put the current ones in a closet for recycling and non-stinky garbage (paper, etc.). Love this new space!

You chose a beautiful apartment! It's very quaint and homey, even before you added the furniture.
I don't think the trash cans look bad right there; however, I think you should turn them back to back, flush against the wall, and it would give more walking room. Maybe put the trash one facing your kitchen entrance, and the recycle one facing the living room.
yeah ive been messing around with it more! when they go flush against the wall you cant open the fridge fml
@@amyrauch I was thinking, maybe leave them in the hallway, where you showed them, and put them back to back. That way they are out of the kitchen space.

I would just put up some window treatments to soften the living room space a little bit, also I would switch out the coffee table to something a little more classic, right now the black one feels a little to modern for the space.

If you’re wanting to add some color to the living and bedroom/bathrooms, I like to have neutral colored large items with colored/patterned/textured accessories. Aka throw blankets, pillows, shower curtains, duvet cover, etc. Also, I notice you gravitate towards a lot of grays and blues, but if you’re wanting to add some “warmth” to your space, I would be reaching for warm toned items, such as browns, mustard, burnt orange, red, etc.
yes yes, deff want to get some darker oranges and medium browns in the space

waiting for final security deposits to clear but honestly i would not recommend the area at all, unfortunately, so i probably wont share :(

You could try TJ Maxx for some more organization items. I'm just curious is that a functional fireplace? It'd be great if it is.

@@amyrauch don't be afraid to use it just because you've never used one before. Just ask your landlord if the chimney has been cleaned and if you could use it. It would be great now that it's winter time.
I saw you had a fireplace screen once you get a fire started just make sure the screen is in front of it to protect you from flying Sparks. There's nothing like sitting in front of a fireplace.
I know this is kind of an older video so you may have already realized but be careful putting your couch so close to the heater. It should be at least 1 foot off the wall. Best case scenario it will block the heat from getting to the rest of your apartment and your heating costs will go through the roof. Worst case scenario it could catch your couch on fire. (Not trying to freak you out, just looking out!)
yes!! the video deff makes it look closer than it is. i work in real estate and our property management team all told me the same thing LOL

Hey! I'll be moving in DC within the next year and only thing I'm worried about is moving my bed frame (since it'll have to be disassembled). Is this something that you know if they help with or was this a non-issue during your move?
they disassembled and reassembled mine! i think it just gets factored into your hourly time - if you fill out the form they should reach out and you can ask questions :)
Can you keep the trash cans (maybe just downsize to one?) in the coat closet? That’s where I keep mine because it’s ugly to look at but still close to the kitchen!
that would be the perfect solution if i didn't stick leos litterbox in there, another smelly unpleasant thing to look at LOL
