I am obsessed with Danessa. I'm a retired HMUA and she is absolutely a pro brand first that went mainstream. In my opinion she's one of the only brands out there setting and following the newest trends and bringing the magic of what indie brands are doing to the masses at a more affordable price point. While companies like Too Faced are out here pumping out another Pumpkin Spice repeat, Danessa is actually getting makeup lovers excited about makeup again. Her finger is ON the pulse and I just love her and everything she does. She also offers a generous 20% pro discount which got me the palette for about $100. and my ass ordered mine at 12:01 on the dot at the drop. Even if this palette isn't for you, keep your eye on Danessa, she's absolutely killing it and is respected in pro circles and commercially alike. She's going to do amazing things. She's changing the game.
At first I thought no way $125 for a palette but when I thought about how much a single shadow cost from Terra Moons then it is worth it. Being an older woman who grew up in the era of the infamous blue eye shadow I so envy all the fantastic make up available nowadays so I bought this palette so why not rock it :)
I know ! I’m so envious of all the makeup there is now . I’m only 34 but I didn’t have most of these options and I’ve aged badly and it’s just not the same , I feel like the entire younger generation, they are all pros ! Everyone is a professional and I want that talent before I age too much more .
Based on the swatches alone Danessa really has a good grasp on shifts now. All of them seems to be executed perfectly. And out of all of the light work palettes this is the most worthy the buy for me!!!
The water activated ones work well with a couple of drops of water, then use a tiny liner brush, swirl around to activate the colour, then it’s quite opaque to use as liner.
Hey Morgan the flakes are easy if you pat it on to your eyes and keep it flaky and textured, almost like a scale affect vs dragging across the eye lid.
Danessa Myricks also released her Chrome Amplifier set that has 6 silicone applicators and 1 liner brush, and I wonder if the silicone applicators help better apply the pressed Chrome Flakes. I know her instructions are to add water to the pan for the Aqua Chromes, but I want to try them by saturating a liner brush and then dipping in, like with water colors. I have this and the applicators ordered from her site, so I haven’t tried them yet, but I want to try them the ways I mentioned after seeing so experienced content creators struggling with those two formulas.
I think that would maaaaaaybe look nice for an editorial look and using it that way for face makeup. I haven't seen any eyelook that looked flattering when flaky and textured 🤷🏽♀️
The flakes are NOT meant to be dragged. They are tapped on and meant to be a scattered glitter effect. They aren’t going to look good used in a way they aren’t intended. Water is better with the Aqua Chromes than setting spray especially not Mac Fix Plus. It has glycerin. You need pure water. You need to create a paste with it like other water activated paints.
Exactly 💯 Morgan Doesn't Completely Do Bold/Colorful/Erotic Looks... This Palette Is Super Easy To Use...The Pigments Are Pigmented And Easy Ti Use. I Love Playing With My Palette
This palate is so undeniably beautiful but after watching your video I started to play with those middle pressed flakes with a silicone tool and I find that it helps to pick it up really nicely and spread it on the eye without any tugging pulling or alot of pressure, hope that helps 😊😊
Reg water works best with the water activated ones.. like 3 drops.. setting sprays & such dry to quick which makes the shades dry quick... glam girl chelsea did an AWESOME review on the palette & really did a great job using the center shades.. learned how to use the center colors from her
I bought this because it's the most exciting palette I've seen in like 10 years. Unlike anything else out there. I also want to say in regards to "wearability," I don't think anyone wanting basic neutrals is going to pick up this palette.
I'm definitely getting this, hopefully it will be available during the vib Rouge sale. Based on this and Karen Harris vid, I'm definitely buying this. It's more for creative looks where as the one last year, and the mini version this year, is more, everyday, to me at least.
This is what life looks like on l$d in the summer time. This palette. Art. I want rooms like these color and tiles and everything. Make it all multi. Velvet chrome, a pool that looks like the aqua shades.
The 2 flake colors are actual flakes that are very tightly packed into the pans. In raw form, they r light fluttery iridescent flakes that can be crushed into a more opaque-looking effect. I do nails,& have been using these in nail art for years,& it’s interesting how they packed them into an actual palette for consumer use. This palette is breathtaking!
I have a lot of multi-chrome eye shadows. They are the ultimate one and done shadows. You don't need to apply too many other shadows. I'm still practicing with the flake formula but I always use a glitter glue and pat then on in the areas I want them. Not feeling the water activated ones.Waiting for my palette!
I got mine yesterday and I'm excited to play with it. But the chromes that are flakey should be packed on and you're supposed to build up the water activated shades.
I recommend silicone brushes for the chrome flakes. I love DM chrome flakes and that makes it so easy. If you want a bit more pigment than just scattered glitter, you can scoop some of the flakes onto the silicone and spread it out on your lid. Looks absolutely stunning
Morgan! You are so good at what you do! I like how you are so honest about how you feel about this palette. Nice job. I'll be back to see some more of your videos.
The traditional multichromes are beautiful for sure, but I'll stick to my indie brands. I've found that as I've gotten older, if a product is finicky or a bit temperamental, it won't matter how gorgeous or groundbreaking it is, it's not going in my kit. I don't have time to hope that a product will behave since time is money. I understand the chrome flakes in the palette (though I don't like the formula), but I really don't understand the aqua colors in a consumer palette. Oh well...at least it's something different and exciting for a change haha. I've bought almost nothing this year due to boring releases. My wallet is very happy haha. Thanks for sacrificing your eyes for us!
It looked beautiful at first but after reading all the instructions on IG, it sounded very complicated. I’ll be curious to see if you can get that glam neutral look. I took advantage of PM’s 35% off palette sale, so I’m holding off on this for now. Thank you Meghan!
Gives me Adept Cosmetics vibes! I wonder how this ones compares with the Heather Austin Palette! Tha HA definitely seems easier to work with but some of the colours here are just crazy heart eyes! 😍
I just found your channel this past week or so. I must say , you are very knowledgeable and talented. Also, the quality of your videos are so good. I can tell you put a lot of time in to them. When I started watching your video , I thought for sure you’d have AT LEAST 1 million subscribers if not more ! I liked and subscribed 💜
My family is on one income and I simply cannot afford this splurge but this is literally my DREAM palette. I love unique looks and this is gorgeous. Indie brand multi chromes are so incredible (never tried them but love the look!) and it’s cool to see them coming to a bigger beauty brand. If you ever decide to rehome this palette please think of me!
I've only got a small collection of Clionadh multichromes, but I have enough shifts for my usage. I will say that most of the Danessa Myrics shades look to be black based multichromes, and I prefer the more sheer toppers as someone with fair skin.
Thank you so much for the thorough review! I bought this one when it launched but just now got around to opening it and I could not figure out for the life of me why Intuition and Aura (the Aqua Chromes) wouldn't swatch - lmao
The aqua chromes work best when you wet your brush then really work the product into a paste using the brush. I got mine to go opaque but I still don't know if I really think it adds anything to the palette. I wish the aqua chromes were smaller and she included more velvet chromes instead.
Were you using fix plus or was that water in a fix plus bottle? If you were using fix plus then try plain water with the aqua shades - they should work much better for you!! ❤️ Thank you so much for the swatches - i want every single one of those velvet chromes 😬
I picked it up and when I get it, if I can't work with it, I'm returning it. For the price, I need every shadow to perform and not have to struggle. Thank you for the review.
I got the pink pressed chrome flake in my trendmood box and I found that if you spray your brush or lick your finger ( eww I know 😂) it works really well, I almost feel like lithe pressed chrome flakes should be water activated as well
On Sephora, it seems that how they are used on the models. Graphic liner and detailing ,and the flakies pressed and tapped on to add texture and shine. Very Euphoria style. I love it, but it's not my thing.
Use water only on the aqua shades. Facial sprays has other ingredients that don't work well. Make a paste w water and use an eyeliner brush. Let me know hoe thay works for you
I saw another review on this palette by emily harper and she said the water activated work best with just straight water. She tried using a setting spray but found it didn’t work as well. She created a beautiful look using this palette as well. I can see there is a definite learning curve to this one.
I already didn’t plan on picking this up because for me this is a companion palette and I don’t need a giant companion palette. My eyeshadow collection is big enough. BUT…..I’ve never seen you struggle like this with eyeshadow (and I’ve been around since 20k subscribers)!! So that told me I definitely don’t need it.
When I watched Glam Girl Chelsea's video of this palette, the secret to the 2 water activated shades is that they are actually eyeliners! I was pretty shocked to see that DM gave us 2 duochromatic liners! As for the 2 flaky shades, I'm not feeling those. Nope. But, I probably will be buying this palette, though.
Yeah, again early to the show, hi beautiful Morgan love your makeup look. Now let’s keep watching 🥰😇😘purple is my favorite color, the packaging is so pretty, wow the colors are awesome 👏 have a wonderful day 🌞😊
Hi Morgan I think this looks incredible!! I really enjoyed the swatches as well, they all looked so beautiful. Do you have an recommendations for the best indie brands to buy multi chrome or duochrome shadows from? I want to start out with just 1 or 2 to play around with before splurging on this palette!
Hi! I have a huge collection of multi & duochromes. The best brands to buy colored based multichrome shadows from are terramoons cosmetics, Devinah cosmetics (if you're in the US their price points & shipping cost is optimal). Both brands make incredible shifty shadows. Clionadh (based in Canada) is at the top of their game in terms of incredible formulas at a good price point (they're a little more expensive than terramoons & devinah) & have a wide assortment of different formulas. If you're in the UK or Europe I recommend pastel roses or glamshop, both make some incredible formulas! There are so many Indies who sell multi & duochromes, but the ones I mentioned have been my favs for pricepoint, formula, uniqueness, & just overall value. Best of luck! 🤗💜
I'm a little late, but I have found with stuff that requires mixing, I tend to avoid using any sort of Fix+ or water. Try a mixing medium. I love the Mehron one and the Makeup by Mario mixing medium! I hope you can get this palette to work for you!
I am not getting the pallet but loved your honest review. If a duo or multichrome all over the lid is too much try black liner and while it's wet put the powder over it as a liner. I am not a fan of flakies at all.
Idk about chrome flakes for the eyes I use them a ton on my nails and their stunning but as a pressed formula for the eyes it sounds like it would look pretty but I’m sure it’s hard to work with
I wonder if you tried a mixing medium with the chrome flakes if that would work better? Just an idea. These look similar to hidden cosmetics and some others and they are usually applied mixing the flakes with a medium.
Morgaaaaan!!!! 😭 have you played with this anymore & found ways to work with those middle shades because I need to know🙏🏼 🤣 lol I can’t stop myself from purchasing this
Wow! I wish I had seen this review before I bought it! Hopefully it will work for me. I did notice that with the water activated shadows you used a setting spray instead of actual water. Do you think that would make a difference? Some of those sprays contain alcohol in some form, which is bad for pigments-I am an artist, and it affects all kinds of paints.
Just use water & a liner brush for the liner shades. Pat on the flakies with a finger or silicone applicator. Perhaps over a glitter glue. If you like special shades, the color story & you're an artist, don't worry at all! It will work for you! Bad to the Brow is also a great channel for tips/tricks/inspiration/comparisons when it comes to multichromes. From one artist to another...enjoy! 💙🎨🖌️😊💜
I'm sure this has prob already been said but the trick to the flakes is to pat them on, no rubbing:) i love the look outcome and will wait for this pallette to go on sale and she will be miiiiinnee!!
Wonderful video! I think the aqua ones are eyeliners? My palette is not going to be here until Tuesday of next week. I am so excited to try this palette.
I was going to buy this palette, but I got chrome flake single shade in Trendmood box and it is awful. Just like you described, it is flakey, patchy and impossible to get on eye lid unless you firmly press it at the point your eye ball will pop up. I dont need this headache for $125.
I am obsessed with Danessa. I'm a retired HMUA and she is absolutely a pro brand first that went mainstream. Mainstream makeup brands need to come out with more stuff like this.
Based on the swatches alone Danessa really has a good grasp on shifts now. All of them seems to be executed perfectly. And out of all of the light work palettes this is the most worthy the buy for me!!!
agrreed!! Definitely a good shifty formula!

Same here 😆 😊
Oh yes. One touch pigment Indy goodness.
Swatch and sips are so awesome Morgan!!! Thanks for cheering me up, I was having a tough morning and really needed this. Hugs!
you have to use the silicone brush to apply the pressed chromes well

For the water Chromes you have to swirl until you form a paste. That's what she said on her swatch video.
Morgan do you have a makeup activator? I heard those work much better with the water activated and chrome flakes?
What if you use one of those silicone shadow applicators for the flakes shades?
I’m going to have to try! I just didn’t have any tools like that!
@@MorganTurnerMakeup FYI You need to use plain water for the water activated shades. Not setting spray

I was going to buy this palette, but I got chrome flake single shade in Trendmood box and it is awful. Just like you described, it is flakey, patchy and impossible to get on eye lid unless you firmly press it at the point your eye ball will pop up. I dont need this headache for $125.
Love ya gurl❤
Everyone I wear it I get s ton of compliments
