What dish from your culture do I need to learn how to properly eat?
I love this so much . I hope me and my mom can have a relationship like this
Somali food Jeannie I got you
From Kenya..try a dish called ugali...just kidding you won't find the ingredients
Hello Hunnay with Jeannie Mai try pork or chicken adobo from the 🇵🇭 😇
Hi Jeannie Mai, it was nice you took Mama Mai out when she not feeling well. I hope she feels better soon. You should go to any Ethiopian restaurant and order tripa. PS Vietnamese and Ethiopians pronounce the word the same, lol who knew🙆🏽♀️👋🏼😉😃👸🏽
people in the comments like "she's so extra" damn let the girl show her culture to you, she's excited
Alexis Spencer agreed
Right
I've been eating pho my whole life & they are really extra with their pho lol. But it's cute though.
Lmfao I died when she said “if you’re the youngest you gotta serve your elders first, move mom “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Beckham the Bulldog & Pierce the Cat 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This part was so funny 😂😂😂
This is my mom
👩👧:😡👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾💥💥😡😡💥💥💥💥💥😡😡😡👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾💥💥💥
Me:🤕🩼🌀😢 My mistake
The look her mom hives her when she says "MOM WE'RE DOING VIETNAMESE NOT THAI!!" lol
I love that Jeannie explains everything!
I discovered Pho by default on a blind date. That relationship went ABSOLUTELY nowhere but Pho and I.. we are living happily ever after!!! I introduced my daughter to it, she gets basic beef but I get the works, we LOOVE Pho 💞💞💞
Also mom is sooo adorable 😂
Shawn Nicole I discovered Pho when my family went to NYC. My area do not have a store.
Yess I get the rare beef pho
I love that you got a new experience on that date!! Too bad they didn't last, but they served their purpose !!
I feel like trying to learn to speak Vietnamese would be the hardest thing ever. This language has so many tone and pitch changes 🤣
Yeah. That’s in a lot of Asian languages. There was a foreign exchange student from China trying to explain to my friends and I the different vowels and the way to pronounce the different accents over the letters and we were just horrid at it.
Same with tagalog, which is the native language for the Philippines. I'm half filipino and learning this language is hard imo.
@@alanamaria1273 If you ever want to pick up a Chinese language in the future, Mandarin is the easiest. Because its status as a national language means resources to learn it are readily available compared to say my native language of Cantonese or my home language of Taishanese. Mandarin also has better (aka, more standardized) transliteration so it's easy to learn it phonetically as well. One should always learn to read the Chinese characters but it really helps to have something alphabetical to look at as a supportive piece! ;) Lastly, there are only 4 tones in Mandarin, which are always written out in the transliteration portion of any Mandarin Chinese textbook. It's really useful because eventually you'll learn to memorize the Chinese characters and know instinctively which tones to speak in. Languages are fun and learning how it works explains a lot about each culture. I love sharing it with others!
I feel like I would really suck at all the hard gutteral intonations. Like German. I much prefer smoother softer sounds. Easier for my mouth to force out.
@@NiaMSnow I'm curious which one is harder. Tagalog or one of the many other Philippine dialects/languages! Had a lot of Filipino friends in high school but most only knew Tagalog. I feel like visually-speaking, Tagalog would be easier to learn than my native language of Chinese (I'm not fluent despite attempts!), since everything is written in an alphabet. But I know nothing about its grammar structure so I can't compare. All I know is that I've learned to appreciate my heritage, including its languages, but I cannot imagine trying to learn Chinese as an outsider. I've met people who did master the language but those were fanatics. People who are obsessed about a culture and spend their entire lives devoted to the study of it. One man I met in college was so obsessed with Japan that he even took Mandarin Chinese classes so that he could better understand Japanese! (In case you didn't know, part of the Japanese language uses Chinese characters but the meaning isn't always the same). Good luck on your language learning journey. I hope you become fluent but even if you don't, I say, be proud of your efforts! Understanding the ins and outs of a language can open up a world you otherwise wouldn't be exposed to. I feel bad that I'm not fluent in my native languages but at least I understand how it works. It's fascinating stuff! Maybe when I have children I'll get us a tutor to teach me and my kid. LOL.
I found this so educational. I have seen the chain restaurants selling Pho on the high street but I had no idea about this level of complexity to the dish. Thank you Jeannie!
Dang, I didn’t know that eating pho was so complicated 😂
Life RN not complicated just a dining experience and a fun one with good company
i love how jeannie wants to inform everyone on the specifics but i can see how mama mai was feeling about talking too much lol 😂
Womp womppppppppp Ikr ahhahahaa
You have to serve your elders: “move mom” 🤣
That had me dead to 🤣💀.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao it me
Ginger Chung I died!
😹😹😹
Can I make a request for when you’re teaching us new words to have subtitles with phonetic pronunciation? I’d really like enjoyed watching your video.
I was looking for this comment!! was about to say the same thing
Yessss! We need this.
Since it's a tonal language. I think they'd have to start marking tone on the vowels.
“You pay for it I don’t care” 🤣
"When you talk I don't say hurry" - even though Mamma Mai said 'hurry' at least 100 times 😅
She was hungry! 😄
Very Hungry! Jeannie was keeping her mother from her food..
Kairo had me dying when she said like uh ma’am 😂
Kairo haha
The cleaning and serving the elders! That's so funny, my husband is Vietnamese and I went out to lunch with his grandfather while dating him and he told me to do that exact same thing!
We recently had a Pho restaurant open in our community. The food is good but I'm not sure many people understand Vietnamese flavor. I was introduced to Pho when I lived in Hawaii and have been a big fan ever since. Please come out and support this local business. It adds diversity in an area flooded with a BBQ joint around every corner. (Nothing against some good BBQ, however) Shout out to Pho Time in Ozark, Alabama!!!!!! May you stay open forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"You need to serve your elders, move mom" I love it jeanie so hilarious
Alondra Diaz and mom just took the hit 😂
Yes Mama Mai Thirt-a-ble😂😂💀💀We can start a whole new dictionary with all your words. But Firstable all of those who did not yet, please subscry💕
😂😂
My favorite is son-of-a-mitch!!!💕
My haitian aunty been saying "First-able" since I came here to America(16 yrs ago). I bust out laughing when I heard mama mai say it.
Andrishia Frans 😂😂😂
❤
Lol im down with mom,. " you talk so long hurry up" lmfao
Pho is my favorite dish period I swear. Im so happy Ive been eating it the right way all this time without a clue lol
*"no you can talk I can eat!"* MAMA MAI IS JUST COMPLETELY SAVAGE 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
"if you're the youngest at the table you need to serve your elders...MOVE MOM." 🤣 I loved this, I'm so particular about my pho, def going to start asking for steamed veggies.
OMG JEANNIE!!! I love how you and your mom are showing how you really interact with each other! especially when you say, "Mom!" when she's interrupting you! Love seeing you do your thing gurrrrl!!! xoxo, Cristina from old Mosaic Mayan days...
I see where Jeannie gets her looks and personality from!😂😂😂😂
Mama Mai gettin SHANGRY (Sick, hungry AND angry)😂 love y'all!
Thought you were breaking down Shady+hungry lol
When she started eating the basil by itself, it was her cry for help (aka food)!
Whenever I'm sick I eat Pho. It's great for colds, congestion, and stomach aches.
kat tastic don’t forget hangovers. Lol it really does cure everything. Hahaha
Knowing now that its basically bone broth that makes sense its so healing.
yes that's the best time to eat it I remember the very first time I tried it I was sick as a dog and I had a chicken and shrimp pho. I felt myself getting better by just eating it 2 days later my cold cleared up.
I just love watching you both interact ! The mix of both your energies is magic 🧚♀️✨✨✨
Yes! Pho is MY GO-TO whenever I feel like I’m coming down with a cold ! Works every time!!
Your mum needs her own channel... she is a vibe! 😂
100% just her mother on her own chanel I agree
Bru she's so annoying and acts like a 13 year old
She is is!!! ❤❤
Mom is a money maker!!
Though I'm not Vietnamese, I've eaten pho my entire life and I'm so upset that I've never had the vinegar onions! I'm definitely gonna ask next time I go. Also, Vietnamese egg rolls are the best! Hands down.
Mom is absolutely adorable but dang her daughter is just insanely beautiful!!! Inside and Out!!!! She perfect!!! She made such a beautiful human.
My best friend is Vietnamese and she found a Pho restaurant here in metro Detroit and we’ve been going there for years! The first time she took me I was so amazed by the flavor! 💕💕
I died when mama mai said “thirt-a-ble” 😂
p. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
*i’m so confused yet so entertained* 😂
SKYY LOVE me too! Jeannie talks so fast. Lol
I'm like wtf is even going on 🤯
SKYY LOVE I was so lost but can’t stop laughing at her mom
I love Phõ, top 3 meal easy, I have to eat it at least a couple times a month.
I found the best one in Hilo, Hawaii. The family who runs it are Vietnamese immigrants, work very hard, very nice people. I get summer roll with shrimp and one Pho with everything minus the tripe. Flank, rare, meatballs, tendon, tear up the cilantro and basil, squirting the citrus, a little hoisin and siracha. Mix, let it cool down , eat my summer rolls that super fresh snd crunchy with a dipping sauce that is sweet and tangy, add a little siracha for some heat. Then eat Pho.
I watched this video, then went to go get some pho and just played them the part where you ordered for my order. Phenomenal.
Mama Mia just like me. She takes eating seriously, eat and don’t talk
As a Mexican I’ve been eating caldos all my life, watching this video made me proud to say I’ve been eating and saying Pho correctly since i discovered it a couple years ago. 😊 Jeannie and Mama Mai’s chemistry made it feel like my mom and i’s as well, instant subscribe! Pho is one of my favorite caldos to eat ESPECIALLY hungover or sick haha i showed it to my bf and now he can’t get enough of it either we eat it at least once a week!
Please make a video on how to make the best pho, i would love to see a recipe from Mama Mai!
Love it!!! Gonna eat Pho 🍲 like this from now on. Love your culture Jeannie! Always wanted to visit the lush gorgeous Vietnam 💖
This is great!! I love the pointers and tips!!! I can't believe I've never asked for my beef on the side; that's perfect cause I hate when it's overcooked!! I'll remember the tip about the vinegar onions AND the steamed bean sprouts!! I'll have to try Pho So 1, since they're in the valley!! I love your enthusiasm and excitement to teach your culture. 🥰💜😍 Thank you!!!
I love pho. It's my go-to 'birthday meal' every year. This sounds weird, but going into Vietnamese restaurants, the atmosphere always made me thirsty for more. So I've been researching Vietnam, learning about the culture, and even trying to learn the language. And one day I really hope to adopt a child from Vietnam
“If you’re the youngest at the table, you need to serve your elders... Move, mom.” *shoves Mama Mai* 🤣🤣
That's so terrible! Jeannie is trying to teach us her culture, but I think she needs to understand her own culture better... to respect her elders.
Kieran Tong lol I think she’s playing not 💯 though
Jay P even if she were playing, there comes a time where you shouldn’t be playing in this case here it was wrong and not a good look at all, flat out rude and disrespectful
TheMeddiee not if it’s being filmed for likes and views. There’s a reason people are obsessed with reality tv. I agree with you though. There should be a line of respect. I just understand ppl are crazy for views and likes.
@@jayp1034 correct brother, if the video got the views and the likes, well then this video was a success whether the content was good and a hint of unprofessional took place in the video not much you can argue about
Hello hunnays! I’m a new subscriber to this channel and I just wanted to tell you how much I love you Jeanie mai and your mom mama mai! I’ve watched almost every single video and I gotta say I have NOT been disappointed! I have depression and I’m being treated for it but I just wanted to say that your videos have definitely helped to make me laugh, put a smile on my face and relate to your stories. Thank you for being you and thank you for bringing joy! Also thank you for educating me on how to eat pho! 😘✌🏽❤️
I’m in love with Momma Mai! She is naturally hilarious
I wanna hear Jeannie speak her native language with English subtitles
,o

my husband and I do this too!
Omg such a great energy I love every single min of watching you guys
Wow this was SO educational i love it! THANK YOU for the tip about getting the bean sprouts steamed i love pho I'll def be doing that next time.
8:29 “Move Mom”😂😂💀
Jeannie: "You don't just say phuh, you say it like you're asking a question - phuh?"
Also Jeannie: proceeds to just say phuh for the rest of the video.
Now I'm just confused.
Exactly. LOL
I know! Lol
Just think about it like ask a question. Kind of like when you say Right!?..lol
😂😂😂😂😂
She did!
I love Phó!!!🍜 and oh my goodness I so want a huge bowl!!! I love watching you and Mama Mai!!!
Absolutely love you guys relationship!!!
“Tripas for mi Mexicano amigos” 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I looooove how MamaMai gives eye when she is annoyed!
Thanks that was very helpful! I love learning about other cultures, but sometimes I'm a little too shy to ask questions. This was great.
You ladies are amazing! Ya'll are fun to watch. 🥰 love you, Jean!
“Why you talk too much? Just bring the egg rolls!”
When Jeanie was explaining..mama mai didn’t care at all! Lol too funny great Chanel Jeannie
Eating pho is so much fun because you get to customize it. I love the rare beef number because you can cook it the way you like it. Hoisin and sriracha a must, but I love lime and jalapeños with mine! Thanks for showing how to properly prepare the table for elders. Great segment!
the poor server probably has like 10 other tables to take care of, and here's jeannie mai taking her time to explain to the camera what she's ordering lmao
I'm sure they went when it's not as busy
Jelena Milacic it sounded busy you can hear the people in the background
Or they could’ve sat there and explained and the server could’ve done other shit like busy work like roll napkins til he or she was called upon. Lmao. Stop limiting yourself to that type of thinking
I'm sure they compensated him well for his time :)
Jeannie has been at this restaurant many time because I’ve seen her myself and taken pictures with her. That restaurant is always busy but they have more than 5-6 servers on those busy days. The guy taken her order is usually the Cashier, believe me guys she did this because they know her at that restaurant..
"First-ta-ble!!" LMBO I love this vid, I love how authentic it is, I just love taking in new culture experiences.
I barely found your channel a couple of days ago. I am very happy 😊. The two of you are precious.
This was very informative. I've been eating Pho for 20 years. I learned so many things from this episode.
When she said “this pho has been simmering over night in the same ingredients that ma uses to wash her face”😂😂😂I died.
This made me crave pho real bad!
TwinkleX0 right! I’m headed to get som right now...👍🏽
Same. Idk why I’ve been putting it off!
Big Vietnamese culture in New Orleans. The pho here is so good. I love Pho!
This is my first time viewing her channel! Its hilarious. And I'm learning so much.
MAMA MIA IS A WHOLE MOOD! SIS CAME TO EAT. PERIOD.
Why do I always die laughing everytime mama mai says firstable lol 🤣🤣🤣 and now there's secondable and thirdable 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can't lol
I laughed 😆😅😅😅😅😅😅so hard
Kedesia Barton 😂😂😂
I just tried pho today after watching this video a couple of months ago and Oh My God it is delicious! Absolutely love all of the flavors!
I love that yall sharing how OG you guys are
Lol first of all yall are making me hungry🤣. Thank you so much for this video. I love learning about other cultures, especially the different types of food. 😁 I am coming to LA in January. I would love a Jeannie Mai lunch tutorial at that restaurant 🙏🏽😁 I eat a plant based diet with a little fish...but back in the day. Girllll I ate chicken like nobody's business lol 🤣🤣🤣 Jeannie you are probably great in this department already but in my culture you have to know how to each chicken meaning you have to eat the gristle, suck the bone until dry, and eat the bone marrow lol
I LOVE PHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was introduced to Pho by my colleagues a few years ago and I was hooked! I then introduced it to my husband and he LOVES it as well. I live in a small town in Virginia and we have a Pho restaurant named Laughing Bird Pho. I could eat Pho EVERY SINGLE DAY.....SOOOOOO DELICIOUS!!!!
Mama Mai is genuinely awesome, I had to subscribe.
My favorite combo is tái, chín, sách, bò viên
Pho is one of my favorite dishes!! We have multiple pho restaurants where I live in Virginia. Love it! I think I’ll go get pho and a Thai tea for lunch today 🤪
Jeannie laughing about THIRTABLEEEE took my life 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
harry C. 😂😂😂
Exactly I was dead from both Thir-table and jeannies cute inner raspy hearty giggle 😂🤣⚰️
Because of this video, I asked my mom to go get some pho with me today. I’ve always loved pho. The tips on the steamed veggies and raw steak made my experience even better. Thank you & your mom for the tips.
I love this! Really enjoyed watching this video. ❤️❤️
This Soup will actually help during a cold versus Chicken Noodle Soup. 💯
TRUE!!!
Asian people have pho after a rough night out. It works wonders!
Me as her waiter: "girl if you don't just order your food so I can go 😒"
LOLL foreal, I'm a server and I was feelin bad for him 😂
It's likely all family that works there and they're getting free advertising
She. Sucks. Wannabe black. So sad.
😭😭😭😭
@@Sandakan00 Maybe but I doubt it, there's hella Viet people in LA and Pho So 1 is just one of the many go-to spots for a bowl of pho lol
Could you do more videos like this please. This is so interesting to learn.
This was such an awesome video! I always go to a pho place and worry about how to eat it properly since I don’t want to do it in a disrespectful manner.
I had learned some stuff but not all of this and I tried some of Jeanies tips this past weekend and I actually got some surprised looks by the things I did! Great video Ms. Mai!
Because of your background I would love to see you try typical Mexican dishes and speaking Spanish :)
Omg!!! Loved this video. I can’t wait to go have some Pho 🍲
Jeanie is speaking everything she’s thinking
My husband is Ghanaian and loves to eat tripe and tendon. I’m sure he would love the major combo you ordered. Try some Ghanaian food sometime. It’s delicious 😋 🇬🇭 Kenkey and pepper sauce, fried tilapia
That's lovely, I'm Ghanaian too, kenkey, fish and pepper is delicious
I see you are a woman of culture, I’m from Ghana as well.
I LOVE KENKEY WITH PEPPER SAUCE AND FRIED TILAPIA 😫!!
Ghanaian here I report 👋
I am Ghanaian too. I just finished eating kenkey, fried tilapia, and spinach stew.
rocklesson86 we had banku with pepper sauce and fried tilapia last night. One of my favorites that my husband makes me.
I Love this Video, It's So Educational About Vietnamese Food!!!!
Love it! I've only eaten Pho once and it was great! Thank you for teaching!
Mama Mai is like "i just wanna eat" lmao i love her so much
Mama mai is such a big drama queen, even when she is sick she is still same mama mai
Omg you're so pretty! Pho is the best soup out there. Truly amazing!
Informational and hysterical!
Loved it!
mama Mai is so young lol like she's the older sister.
Lmfaooo! I just discovered this! I’ve been missing out 😂😂 they’re so hilarious lmao
Just tried pho for the first time two weeks ago. I’m HOOKED! 😋
I LOVE IT WHEN MAMA MAI SPEAKS VIETNAMESE 😍😍😍😭😭
I MUST go get some pho ASAP!! THANK YOU for the teachings of this delicious soup! I will think of you with each bite!!
