Now that's impressive! I'm the same age and I have a harder time starting than that. Thanks for the time and trouble you took to satisfy another old wrench pullers need to hear the dependable old engines roar to life once more!
Well done!! Your country must be very rich in history with so many different machines so near. Where I live in Adelaide, Australia we do not look after our history so well. Cheers, Ray
douro20 thank you very much for your comment, and also for subscribing!! I will fit a stack when I find the space where to put the engine because at the moment it is residing in the yard of a friend of mine. I have a collection of 118 engines and space is running out!!!
New pressure tanks is what you should be scared of. The ones that an engineer was told make it just thick enough to last 5- 10 years after that it can explode. Old ones since there wasn't any computers they would try one. If it blew up they said lets just make it out of 1/2" steel who cares if it weighs 500 lbs. I have 7 compressor tanks in my shop and the ones im scared of the most are the newer " engineered ones made of 1/8" steel. 60 -80 gallons. I have a 200 gallon thats from the late 50s and its 5/8" thick. Which one do you think will be around in another 50 years.
@@buildthings79 no doubt the older ones are build better but theve also been sitting around for 20years with a foot of water in them corroding ua-cam.com/video/KVP_A7eGYxw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ElQH4FrhDvY/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching the video, the compressor was smoking as it started under load as the air vessel was already half full, and the engine did not start first kick as the air vessel was only 200psi it should be at least 250psi. There are other engines on my site if you want to watch. I have a collection of 115 engines!! If you ever come to Malta contact me.
I was just really hoping that air tank had a pressure relief valve on it in case it went over it's rating. I bet a old rusty pressure tank like that could do some damage coming apart.
whyforall I can tell you that I found all my engines in Malta, I never import engines. When you take in consideration that Malta is an island 20 miles long x 8 miles wide with a sister island Gozo 8 mls x 8 mls it is a bit astonishing. now you said it "when you have the time" I am a pensioner on full time restoration on many projects. In fact the clips that I have were taken by my son who happens to be there when I stat some thing:-)))
YES!!!!!!!!!!! I felt the same exact way. Great minds think alike!! I guess its all right, it did't run to long, its a tough old engine. I always love engine team work!
Southern Mechanic I am with you! Bloody hard as an engineer to see things and not want to put them right. Not much has ever failed for being over lubricated!
Yep, let's get some lube for that sweet old girl, she needs it real bad... I have my pumper oil can ready and a rag in my back pocket. I would mix in a bit of never seize also. A ball valve on the air tank would be good. Old deisel electric tug engine perhaps?
I was amused by the compressor engine's ability to convert oil into pollution with amazing efficiency. Just kidding. Never thought I would have a reason to visit Malta. Other than scenery, food and people.
No shelter from the rain / elements? Didn't wait for the receiver to build enough charge before starting... Please some buy this and put it some where safe.
This guy behind the camera is a real newbie; looks like this was his first video. Some people really have no concept of video making. And yes, why leave the bar in the flywheel ?
Actually it is not a Lister it is a Petter, Indian clone but its a good engine it started after 30 years with the old diesel fuel in it!!!The engine is used to fill the air tank to start the Blackstone as it needs at least 200 PSI to start!!
why not oil the valve train ? why leave the bar in the flywheel ? Is this guy a complete creaton ? I have been a diesel mechanic for nearly 50 years and things still amaze me , bloody amaterus
Why not oil the valve train? If it was designed to be oiled there would be oilers on it, the rockers show grease zerks. Why leave the bar in the flywheel? Why take it out the engine isn't going to turn over until the valve is opened, he walked away to check the air pressure, and came back and set the engine to start. If you were a diesel engineer you would have known this
That would run forever
Que belleza noble motor
10 years later, this video comes to me. Thanks! I still like diesels after all these years.
Somebody needs a little Howes Lubricator!

That engine has a very nice sound!
Nice start John!!
Wow that old engine sounds good!
Did you try to make voltage with the generator?
That old engine runs well. Now it needs a stack.
Well done John,nice engine.
Davida I did not make voltage with it as I have remover the brushes as I did not want any problems!!! I was only interested to start the engine:-))
Old pressure tanks scare the hell out of me

I drain my tank once a week. Used to do it daily but so little came out. A lot depends on the humidity in your area.
It should 😂
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
GRANDE GIO!!!!!
Il motore è musica x il mio udito!!!!
👍👍
I bet you are still smiling! Thanks.
you gotta love engines.

Stupendo! Bella bestia!!😨😨😨
Turn the compressor of will ya
this is freaking awesome! !!!
Your collection is amazing! Where do you find them all? Please when you have the time upload more of your collection. Cheers.

you go it in the end!
Schön zu sehen, dass man historische Technik zum Leben erwecken kann !
@Watsupwiya It looks like a dumper engine but it is not. That engine is an Indian copy most prob Petter but it starts ok.
The small engine is a LIster, made in the UK,and used for many applícations, including narrow gauge railways
The main engine is running at 500 rpm,is is 4 strokes,,,classic in huge engines,,,
what voltage are the alternators?
What I find astonishing is that 7 people disliked your video.
The Mocking Mechanic Haters gonna hate….
Might be they can't cope with the smoke or have attention span issues
Tassew prosit my friend.Keep it up.

was I the only one wanting to reach through the screen and oil the valve train? they looked very dry, good video though 😊

Isn't that a petters?
Is it a 90 kW generator?if so I know where one is.

DO U mean to say that this engine has not run since 1946????
Last run 30 years ago, the engine was produced in 1946, thanks for commenting:-))

Oh I know that one, It's a dumper engine
Приора.
Das gute Stück gehört ordentlich restauriert in einen Unterstand und als Genarator genutzt! Oder?
Werner Feil Genau!
Some major oil problem there, that valve chest has no oil whatsoever. More interesting is the donkey engine and air tank.
Turn the lister off then do it again
Actually it is not a Lister it is a Petter, Indian clone but its a good engine it started after 30 years with the old diesel fuel in it!!!The engine is used to fill the air tank to start the Blackstone as it needs at least 200 PSI to start!!

....Well you knew what I meant ..I wanted to hear the old dear chugging
why not oil the valve train ? why leave the bar in the flywheel ? Is this guy a complete creaton ? I have been a diesel mechanic for nearly 50 years and things still amaze me , bloody amaterus
Now let me see your engines professional engineer!!!
I would only embarrass you by my professional ability
It always takes an uneducated person to think of such an original statement!!!
Can you please show us at least one of your engines I like being embarrassed:-))))))) I might learn something new my friend!!!

.
A lot of smoke and a lot of noise - just for fun...
9traktor another miserable git 🧐😳😡
The engine is blown
Whew! cough cough cough cough!
