I think that showing them the owie and also showing that you’re calm about it is good, it’s reassuring. If you were freaking out and crying, that would scare them but demonstrating a positive, secure demeanor will show them that mom is ok. It shows them that mom is strong and can overcome anything. It is a great example for a boy that mom is a professional and strong and overcomes obstacles, which helps shape his view of women. It’s also great for a girl to see that she too can overcome anything, just like mom.

“Owy!” That says it all. You could see Jackson looking and thinking about the difference in mommy’s face. Johnny explaining, “Mommy’s owy!” gave him the perfect understanding.
    It’s a precious clip! 💓

It's always good to raise our children to embrace the realities of living, in a positive light.
I got hurt fighting a fire once and was pretty nervous about having, at the time, my 3 year old daughter, seeing me all banged up to hell and gone.
Well... I had pretty much the same experience you did. A lot of curiosity. Some questions. But kids are sponges. There's a lot they can learn that will stick with them and carry them forward in a good way, if we approach it right with them and demystify things for them.
She wasn't very old, when she became aware that I could actually get killed doing my job. We had some interesting conversations, about life... and death... and the reality that, on a future date uncertain... we're all going to die... that we don't live forever physically on this Earth. And that led into a great conversation we had over the time she was growing up, about making our time we DO have, count for something WE can feel satisfied with. Like spending time with people we care about. Like time doing someone a solid, without them even realizing it was us. Like, intelligently risking a lot, to help a lot. Like challenging ourselves to reach our dreams and make them reality.
Kids are just amazing at what they can grasp and understand... sometimes better than we, ourselves, understand.
You're doing great, Miesha. :) You're succeeding in the home, which is the first place we need success, if anything we do outside of the home is to be of any worth. :) Keep it up!

This reminds me of an accident that happened to my dad. While he was working he was hurt and got a huge scar on his face that require multiple stitches. My mom recently told me that when he got home they were worried that I was going to cry since I was 4ish at the time but apparently I thought he had some sort of mask on and that I was asking for one as well 😂 wishing you the best of luck ❤️🙌

You healed via teleport? It looks like you stepped into a time machine and just went right back to where you were before the fight. That was fast!! Children are like truth serum. They will always know when you’re withholding something. Going about it like this is a healthy, mature approach. It will only nurture their growth.

Such a tough thing as a parent but I feel it’s good for them to see what it’s like to show good sportsmanship and handle a loss. In life there will inevitably be a set back or something won’t go as planned and kids need to be ready for how to push through that.

Soon enough they will just be asking what the other chick looks like.
You're just showing your kids that you're a warrior is all and they already know you as such anyways. I knew my dad was for as far back as I can remember as a child so none of that kind of stuff surprised me at all. It would have only bothered me if I felt that it bothered him but he never displayed such so life just kept rolling as normal in my mind.
