    Membership,
During Wednesday’s Council meeting, there was an incident that occurred involving a “zoom bomb” during the “No Cops on Campus” Presentation. Before we address it, we want to give a trigger warning surrounding the use of racist and anti-Black language. Please see the bottom of this page for access to support resources.
The Executive Committee would like to acknowledge the unacceptable, harmful and traumatizing hate crime that occurred during Council on March 16th. We do not stand by these sentiments and fully condemn this behaviour. Council meetings, as well as all SFSS spaces, are no place for the type of hate that was displayed and we are examining different methods to ensure the future safety and security of our meetings while maintaining accessibility to our members.
Furthermore, we understand how heavy incidents like these are for many Black community members and so we have ensured health and counselling services were provided for affected community members following this incident. We will also be following up with additional support to staff and students harmed during this meeting.
