I notice this does happen to me. Raises the heart rate.
Thanks to Dr Amen for his advices.
I‘d like to add a UA-cam short by Dr Alan Mandell. He says that foods like potatoes, bread, rice, pasta .,,contain starch, which is a polysaccharide (multiple types of sugar) . It helps to deepfreeze these foods to make starch resistant, which inhibits that these sugars get transformed into body fat. The other benefit is that resistant starch is a nutrient for your beneficial gut bacteria.
Boiled potatoes, boiled rice .,., if not deepfreezed, keep them at least for 12 hours in the fridge before rehashing.

"be curious, not furious"
Love that!
I like this guy
Coffee triggered major anxiety and jittery..it is a neurotoxin, and nobody talks about it...it takes at least 2 to 3 weeks for me to partially detox from it...
2-3 weeks 😮
Love this doctor. Passes on knowledge and that is a great thing
When has sugar ever had any redeeming nutritive value? Eliminate sugar and live happier❤️
Processed sugar yes but eating fruits or natural fruit juice that you made yourself is very different.
Thank you soooooooo much Doctor. We love you dearly.our healer and comforter.Stay Blessed Dr.💕💕🙏🙏😘😘
God bless you 🙏
The quick, easy, tasty go-to foods . Super informative. I can tell what I'm eating by my emotional reaction with a simple bite .
I love this analogy. Yes, food you eat, instructs your body to react in a certain way. Food is like an instruction manual that is automatically activated when you eat - this or that.
Pasta relaxes me...especially home cooked...so debunked!!!
I really need to see more of your sets!
I had no idea thanks
i think the more proper question would be what are the foods that doesnt make you feel anxious...cuz according to this video i would have to eat every 30 minutes
You're absolutely fabulous. ❤
This is really good to know, thank you!
Thank you!
If i drink coffee and tea i feel anxious
caffeine.and any extra sugars in it
Same here, I cut down to a half a cup of coffee in the morning and that seemed to help.
It’s the caffeine
Mind blowing 😮
But it all makes sense
I really need to watch what I’m eating
Aaawww, thank you. Please do a what I eat in a day short please 🤗🙏
Thanks for sharing. ❤
Very sugary or caffeinated things do it but I also crave/eat them for energy because I’m tired 😢 🔄
i really like your words...thank you doctor for wonderful video and sharing knowledge ..
Thank you for this
I have a histamine intolerance and get anxoious when I eat foods that are high in histamine. I think that could be also the case with other food intolerancec
Histamine intolerance is something Dr's don't know about. It's frustrating wondering what I can eat or shouldn't. I feel for you.
I know potatoes are considered high gylcemic. But I have never noticed them do anything, other then taste delicious!
I became so so sleepy after a heavy lunch
I drink a large glass of cold water after dinner, that helps me with my sugar spikes after eating.
Something weird like this does happen to me.i really feel brain fog and something fuzzy with my body like this all day .eating just about everything now just sendsthr feeling through the roof.especially those foods he mentioned . Up can't seem to eat anything anymore without feeling some off
Salty foods and stuff with msg seems to do it too.
I have anxiety and I definitely noticed if I eat sweets it makes it much worse 😮
I have reactive hypoglycaemia, and it would help to eat frequent small meals throughout the day. But there's too much to do, it's impossible to have that time to myself when it's necessary. I still grab sweet coffee in the morning and sandwiches on the run...☹️
Yep I was doing great then my birthday came and family bought a bunch of sweets that I ate and caused me panic attacks. Never again.
Daniel, what fibre substitute should we use for bread, pasta, rice etc
What is the best foods to eat çonsume ?????!
What about dairy? Milk? Cheese? I have a kind of obssession when I eat a slice of Emmental cheese - I want more and more and more!
What carbs are okay to eat besides oats?
If you're going to do oats (in small amounts) I would recommend organic and sprouted. Regardless, oats are still very high carb and therefore cause glucose and insulin spikes. Research "low carbohydrate foods". Fat fiction is an excellent free documentary on youtube.
No gains or cereals or anything that is sweet.
Eat veges, meat, meat fat, fish and eggs, cheese, nuts.
What can you eat as a starchy replacement, we are already going off of sugar but starches are difficult as it is the cheapest foods
What is unwrapped fruit sugar
Is it the food or is it the problems n issues we have that trigger that anxiety n these things just dont help? Because if one were happy with every aspect of their life, why would they be anxious? Serious questions
I'm over the limit Dr...help.😢😢
What about glutamate
Does it depend on the type of flour used to make bread?
I’ve dropped those sweets, and all sweets.. as much as possible.. bread I’m struggling. I in it turns into sugar..
I eat all the things my body fancies, which is probably what it needs, and have never had any problem with fat.
People who are hypoglycemic need to eat at least 5 small meals daily. Generally every 3 hours. Breakfast, snack, light lunch, snack, dinner and possibly a snack before bedtime.
Often, foods with sugar and fat, like icecream, can raise glucose and keep it high for hours. Then the corresponding crash is also prolonged.
👏👏👏
What carbs don’t raise your blood sugar?
Healthy carbs , like vegetables
Alcohol is bad too
Not having food makes me anxious..🤔
Interesting that current studies show kids don't get a " sugar buzz " as parents thought. We used to think there are two sides to every argument.
Wot to eat then?
try keto or even carnivore. But seriously, eat plenty of proteins and vegs and fats - minimize the carbs. In a restaurant, have the salad but skip the bread, order a burger with coleslaw not fries or steak and veg not the potato, for breakfast have an omelette and bacon. you will be surprised. 😋
My ex does it too
I can't eat when anxious, I get stomach ache nausea and diarrhea, I try to have yoghout or banana
Raw onions are my biggest enemy. I used to love them. 😢
I find coffee is also a problem
The other thing that makes you anxious is adrenaline that gets released. It acts as a key that unlocks insulin.
I don't get this part... 'you always want to be curious about what's going on not furious?' 🤷🏻♂️
Giga chad
Darn, there goes my ice cream
What are the foods that do not make you feel anxious?
That's a good question.
Eat lettuce cucumbers tomatoes spinach chicken breast. Eat Less salty foods eat less desserts drink lots water and cut down on coke Pepsi and desserts. Eat less processed foods. Eating less fast foods. Freedom for you to choose a healthy life style. As we get older we will want to eat healthy foods. Enjoy your day
Drink green tea and try to drink less caffeine drinks
Appreciate the info, but I am Sick of what NOT to eat! TELL ME WHAT TO EAT!! ❤
Anything that existed pre-industralization. That is, it contains a single ingredient: the actual food item. Prioritize protein. Eat protein (e.g. cooked eggs) right after waking up since that can dramatically lower anxiety (and helps lose weight as a positive side effect).
Or at least have fat with sugar, vs plain sugar.
@@kevikeenom1710 Only if you want to gain weight from excessive fat tissue as quickly as possible. Instead, it's better to consume fiber in order to give the liver time to process the 50 % fructose that is contained in sugar. Otherwise, the liver gets overwhelmed by the large amount of fructose. That's why fruit is not a problem since fruit contains high amounts of fiber despite containing fructose.
Mate, natural foods.
@@HK_on_YT You can't live only on eggs though, people have been eating rice and bread for many thousands of years. Humans have evolved by eating these things. Also situations in your life and your environment are what really makes you anxious, it's silly to blame it on food..
Yay! A doctor with morals! Thank you
Can you make a video about the best foods to start your day with to lessen intensity of anxiety? I am a severely anxious person and it’s ruining my life, I’m trying to rebuild myself.
Raw meat/blood/butter
Keto food! Low carb! It works!
@@draganapavlovic5507 what about including low glycemic carbs? I know carbohydrates are essential for energy, and not all barbs are made equal. I also lift weights, it’s necessary for that. I must say that keto does intrigue me.
@@deadmanj9279 from personal experience in the last 6 years.the best carbs you can incorporate are Fruits.ive done it all.raw meat and blood for 2 years never once drank water while working a hard labor job out in the sun.yes, carbs can be ok if you exercise.from fruits being the best to something like smash potatoes with butter being 2nd best to grains being the worst for anxiety.but if you do cook grains.wash them well and cook them with butter.
gluten-free
Dr Amen’s clips -> power packed, practical, easy-to-digest tidbits! Thank you!❤ 🙏
OK. I will just not eat at all. Starving is the way 😂
A friend of a “friend” warned me about sugar 40 years ago. Even with the limited depth of knowledge at the time, Dan Tobin, you were brilliant. I wish I had been able to really listen back then. Bless you my dear.
refined sugar tents to make my anxiety spike I'm trying to eliminate it from my diet .
Same here
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and expertise on anxiety.
The way you explain it is excellent for better understanding what's going on our body.❤
Eat healthy foods and exercise and have a positive mind. I think everyone eats different foods. I like this message Amen. Thank you for sharing Amen Clinic
All the good tasting stuff .. of course
Yes, I’ve examined and studied this for myself over the past several years and its true!! Thank you❤
😕 Guess I better get used to being anxious.
Hahaha same! I have double displaced Jaw joints and therefore juice a lot for extra calories. Totally screwed :3 🙊
🤣🤪
@@kassi4837protein shakes?
Does this guy just eat a completely perfect diet, never has a drop of alcohol, coffee, or sugar? He seems so condescending in his videos.
I love that you're teaching with shorts
So true! I eliminated sweet and processed food , did wonders for my mood. I was always struggling with depression, being down . Huge difference
Hi, can you tell me what kind of anxiety you were having? What was your mood like etc. What did you do to make yourself feel better and how long were you feeling like that
Yeah i feel it nearly every day and i need to really change my eating habits. This is the most hard change in life.
I hear ya! Felt the same ! make a list of all those uncomfortable symptoms and think about THAT when tempted! No taste, texture, or momentary food pleasure is worth all that misery. God bless ❤
Interesting ideas. But in the research I'm not sure it shakes out. Daily ice cream makes people happier. It's full of sugar. It has fat too and plenty of it. I'll take daily ice cream and happiness 🤷
Ive been seeing a lot of posts recently regarding the glycemic impact of high carbohydrate foods that have been previously frozen then reheated. I hope its true. Wouldnt that be great if you could lower your blood sugar simply by freezing your bread, rice, pasta or potatoes after cooking, then reheating or toasting them?
Ironically sweet potatoes should be better 😂👌🏽
Simple brisk walking, regularly practiced goes a long way to feeling full, and actually not even wanting unhealthy junk "food."
I've been doing that for the past 45 years now and at 67, I have only a few pounds over what I prefer to weigh, but never fat, obese, and miserable--like sooo many Americans are today.
Big pharma can't save us.
So essentially you can eat a leaf and you’re cool or maybe like a blade of grass 👍🏼.
Breaddd? Fruit juiceee? Riceee? Those are my essentials 😭😭
Chocolato love amore pasta then salad then chocolate 🍫
My life changed when I switched my breakfast cereal / toast / muesli out for 2 eggs or a small serving of meat on a small slice of buttered toast.
Years of over emotional irrationality was instantly shut down. That was 30 years ago. I don't believe for a second that bread and taters are bad if eaten as a small to moderate serving in a mixed meal. The fact that people are consuming them in such large amounts without protein, healthy fats and plenty of veggies is probably the bigger problem.
If you consume these items with protein and fat, it basically cancels out the spike in blood sugar because it’s digested more slowly. So adding meat, eggs or avocado to your toast will do it, and I find if I have a bagel with peanut butter that will eliminate the spike
Too. They say chips or fries are better than a plain potato (the fat). Or if you eat your potatoes with meat or your rice with beef or chicken stir fry you’ll be fine. Don’t just eat plain toast or toast with jelly. Or a potato on its own
But eggs aren’t vegan! You’re evil and they’re evil for you!
Kelly Brogan + Daniel Amen = professional match made in psychiatry heaven
I ate carnivore I have anxiety now and fast heart beat and I’m lazy
Its okay to eat high glycemic foods after weight training because insulim resistance is better! Otherways you should consume complex carbs.
True, if I don't eat for long hours and start with sugary food I get faster heartbeat and feel more anxious
Pasta specifically makes my joints swell and my feet don't move as well.
For me it’s sugar . If I eat too many sweets I get really bad pains in my joints.
You lost me at rice and pasta. 👎🏻
I feel the effects of sugar almost immediately…and then it shows up after 2 days on my face and on the scale. The amount we consume isn’t natural or normal for the body.
It's more due to foods that raise cortisol and adrenaline, ie those you have sensitivities too. Most common=milk protein and lactose, wheat, corn starch.
Icecream.
I Like this guy 🤩👌🔝
You are great dr.Amen 👌🔝🥰
Thank You 🙏💚🙏
Cheating on keto will send me into a weird depression very quickly
At this point wtf IS safe to eat or drink anymore. ~_~
I say this as a 43 year old person, with coeliac disease, constant migraines and headpain, depression, anxiety, paranoia.
Sometimes I wish I could get all my nutrients from a pill. >_>
So... anything good is out. Nah, rather eat cookies and ice cream...anxiously!😂
Seriously, i intermitten fast, eat what I like.
Can make me moody, but lost 43 lbs. in 1 and 1/2 years.
Yikes. So, I have been FEEDING my anxiety. Add that means when my children were little ~ I fed them anxiety inducing foods. Damn.
Grateful.To.Now.Know.Better.
✌️👍✌️
Your literally the best thing i think I’ve ever seen on the internet
