Thank you so much for this demonstration and explanation video! I just recently purchased a 1997 BMW Z3 and I was researching how to do something like this with LED lights!🔥🚙💨
@@jumunjisunn2272 How does it drive? I'm looking to buy one but most of the cars I can get around here are 1.8s. Is the 1.9 a worthwhile upgrade over the 1.8?
Thanks for posting. I have 2 x 3.0 that I am working on and your videos are really useful. Please don't stop posting. The super charger vids are epic! Wrt the halo lights, would a glue gun be better than stickers?
That's because I didn't old school. I pulled fuses and tested them until I found one that came on with the ignition. Then I stuck the wire in followed by the fuse! OG way. Obviously I don't recommend this. I would take the top of the fuse box out and t tap into the wire that runs to that fuse
Hey man, I am not too good with electrical wiring (health care professional here) so I got lost after you fed the wires attached to the halos through your headlight. Where did you end up connecting everything? There was a red and black wire (which came together at the end plastic bit) for each halo. That end was connected into a secondary wire that had 3 wires coming off it (white, red, and black). Could you clarify a bit, thanks
To one of the grounding points in the engine bay. Any nut that acts as a chassis ground will work. Usually other black ground wires are connected to them
If anyone is wondering you can wire it to a switch inside of the car. I have a video on my channel on installing rgb halos and wiring it to a switch if anyone needs help u can message me
I bought a similar set for my e92 but don't really want to have to run that relay harness. Do you know if they can be wired to the existing angel eye plug?
@@AutoDad oh okay awesome. I just got a set of your clear reflector headlights for 60$ and thinking about putting halos into them after I restore them!
Not worth the trouble. They’re not even a perfect fit, and you have to heat the light to open it, compromising the watertight seal. If you don’t get a perfect deal when reassembled you’ll get condensation.

you and me both, what trim did you get
Just bought a z3 1997 1.9L and those lights looks noice
Iv got the 96’ z3 1.9L

@@bamojamo I did see some pre facelift 1.9s but those were all automatics, I'll probably have to check if I can import something then
Very nice demonstration, they look great. might use your video to upgrade my 97 Z3. thank you!
I want to know how the seal is holding up I was surprised you didn't have to add some.
There was so much sealant that is was not necessary. Seal is perfect
Where did you plug the wires? In the fuse box where exactly?
i just bought the same kit for my z3 2000 and cant figure that out either
Use a wire tap (fuse tap). Any fuse slot that turns on with the ignition
@@AutoDad do you just stick both the red cables in the fuse slot then put the fuse on top of it? i was thinking about using the radio slot
No, use a fuse tap. I ordered mine on ebay
I just got a ‘98 like a week ago🤙🏽
Looking into quality mods? This is beyond cool 😎
Check out the rest of my Z3 videos. These cars are fun to work on
it would be nice to see how it was wired and if any problems arise with the battery
No issues ever came about

The only thing I would worry about with the glue gun is it eventually coming loose
Very nice, doing this to mine. Thanks for the help.
I have a 1998 Z3 1.9 sitting around just saving up, I’ve got a lot of work to do to it
I love these fun little cars. Wish I didn't have to put it up in the winter
Great job! Where did you buy the clear lenses for the marker lights?
They are clear stock
@@bamojamo can i just buy the whole light with the angel eyes already in them ??
Aftermarket you can, but not stock
do you think those headlights are still water tight? i wanna do this on mine, was thinking i'd probably have to throw some gasket sealer on it
My are still water tight. There is a lot of sealant in there
great job
Mate I have no idea where you wired the red cable (one that goes to the ignition) to. You didn’t show it at all

White wire is optional and really does nothing. Black wire is ground and red wire I stuck in one of the fuses that comes on when the key is turned on
@@AutoDad ok got it. Thank you!
Got one last question for ya. Where did you attach the black wire to ground it?
To one of the grounding points in the engine bay. Any nut that acts as a chassis ground will work. Usually other black ground wires are connected to them

The relay harness is for cars without DRLs. If you have a 12v for current drls then yes you could use that
@@AutoDad that's great to know, I appreciate the info thanks! 😊
ONE QUESTION BUD I HAVE A LITTLE UA-cam CHANNEL AND I HAVE A BMW Z3 IT NEEDS THIS SO WERE DID YOU PUT THE RED FUSE WIRE
DM me on Instagram and I will send you the picture
@@AutoDad thank you thank you thank you
@@AutoDad umm bud what is your insta
@autodad1
Do you know if this can be done on a 1999 1.9 z3?
I think they are the same light
Any chance your changing your gear Knob or anything like that
I replaced the sticker on the shift knob if that is what you mean
Nice job! thanks for sharing
Is it still waterproof?
Yes 100%
Also next time don’t be touching the inside lense you could have really ruined the inside. But luckily you didn’t haha
I fully cleaned the inside lens before I put it back together

I have had zero issues with mine. There is so much seam sealer in them it would be next to impossible to not seal
