A weekend in Harrachov

Exploring the Czech countryside was something that I used to do often before moving back to Prague and it is something that I would like to start doing again. If you have any recommendations for nice places to visit that are more small-town than big-city, let me know.

I am wondering, there are no places like Harrachov and its surroundings in the US? I assume north at Canadian borders, there must be something, or any US state, which countryside is consisting of forests and mountains ... ?
