It was on Bremer School until 1985.The same year they replaced it with a new looking T-Bolt across the street, on the Library. It was there until 1991 or 92. I did not take pictures of it because I never thought it would be taken down. I heard the people at the retirement home, former Bremer School complained about the noise,I hope to find out someday for sure.Location Fremont and Lowrey Av. N.
For awhile we had no siren. In 1997 I heard a 2001 for the first time.I understood what it was for only after hearing a T-Bolt in the distance. The 2001 is located at Jordan Park, 29th and Irving Ave. N. The 2001 is still there.
Yes, those 2001s are screamin loud. The 2001 you hear is on E 16th st.and 1st ave. s. next to I94. If you Google map it is a large white dot on the corner.
Mid 1950s is what I've been told. The oldest picture of a Minneapolis Thunderbolt that I have seen was taken in 1963 on top of Fredrika Bremer Intermediate School.
When I was a kid it would scare me during storms,or when they malfunctioned. When they tested them,I would always like hearing, and watching the horn turn. The first Thunderbolt siren I grew up near was two blocks from me,it was taken down when I was 5 3/4, summer of 1985. I have a Polaroid of it I hope to have scanned.
This siren has sadly been removed. About 4 years ago.
It would have been removed back in 2013 or 2014.
2009?! woah that was a long time ago wow
only one Tbolt remains in Minneapolis
Yes it does! I like how the alert doesn't totally wind down.
That sure is one hell of a scary sounding 4/5 Port Thunderbolt. That has got to be chopper level 4. Excellent vid!
it's rusty to
SN!
Nope. Only jailbar types were fitted with the incorrectly named "SN" blower (which is actually a 6m made by a different manufacturer).
@@thespiritstingray9359 uhh it’s a jail bar
@@1000BT no it's not
@@thespiritstingray9359 I swear it’s there
@@thespiritstingray9359 the sn is a urai blower
Sounds like a timer with the AGASTAT timer. It's supposed to keep the blower and rotator going for a few seconds while the chopper is spinning down.

I think the rust just gives it that much more character.
I hope to have all those background T-Bolts videoed soon as well.
Thank you! These are old and I want to record them before they replace them.

I hear a 2001-SRNB and another thunderbolt 1000T.
it looks old
she still up today?
Nope, long gone
When it got replaced in 1985 do you remember which siren replaced it?
@DasMidnightDrifter I think 1 2001 and maybe 2-3 other 4/5 ports.

My mother said that she had seen T-bolts since the mid-late 1950s in Minneapolis.
it does attack like the one in jackson
JAIL BAR THUNDERBOLT
@JPa311979 It shouldn't be too hard of a fix, but then again I'm not the expert on the control workings of sirens.
I hope so,but my photographer says no.
@dillonrockband Is that difficult to adjust or does it happen over a long period of time?
I was going to wonder how they would feel. If I was little kid at recess and that bad boy went off, I would have shitted in my pants LOL
lol
10 years ago from this day and your comment is still funny
Great vid! It sounds funny in attack!
What year did the 4/5 Port Thunderbolts got installed?

@@elstiffmeisterits the same thing
@@grimatronicpl7163 oh ok. Thx
I am not sure what you mean? Please tell me.
Are there allot of 4/5 port Thunderbolts in Denver?
did the kids freak out?

May I ask what city those sirens are in?
How long as Minneapolis had these sirens? why is there so much rust on their thunder bolts?
Because they are really old
I hear another 4/5 port tbolt right after this one finished at the end :)
Wow.
it sounds funny in attack
Is it still up?
It was taken down in late 2013 or early 2014.
