ChrisB257 - Its pretty potent solvent after 15 years of sitting in the tank! At least it smells strong! Should be able to bring pump back to good condition with new bearings. Next video, transmission teardown. Tc Mike
That cleaned up pretty easy, what do you use for solvent in the parts washer? Interesting that the compressor seems to be that Green color that Quincy used way back in the early days. I wonder if Quincy made that unit? Actually , the trans is the same color as well. Looks green-ish on my screen. I'd be surprised if the crank bushing isn't a standard size bronze bushing you could get from Boston Gear, Symco, or McMaster.
kmcwhq - Using safety kleen for solvent. No sign of manufacturers mark on the compressor. Not familiar with the company you referred to. It is an interesting metalic green color. I didn't look for standard bushings. Some viewers like to see a little lathe work so I've ordered some 932 bronze. While I'm waiting for that, I'll start the tear down on the transmission. Part 4 coming soon. Thanks for your input! Tc Mike
So pleased you went with option 3 to replace the bearing.
I'm enjoying these videos BTW. Really interesting hiding here on UA-cam.
That's a nice clean-up bath - seemed to do a good job.
Certainly would be nice to see that cute compressor renovated... it sure has potential.:)
