It's different because these animals CAN NOT be released. They weren't taken from their natural habitats, they were rescued. The 3 dolphins at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Winter, Hope and Nicholas, do not possess the skills they need to survive in the wild. Neither of them had the training or protection of their mothers. If they were released, they'd most likely die of starvation or killed by other Dolphins or other predators. CMA release every healthy animal.

Let's assume that you're right, that these dolphins CAN NOT be released. That 15 million years of evolution get wiped out on just 1 generation, and that maybe other dolphins would kill them (even though there's a lot of evidence suggesting the opposite). Then what? We incarcerate them in concrete prisons as slaves and make them perform tricks for food? Don't you think that there might me a lot of different things that we can do instead of this sad """conservation"" circus? What about a natural sea pen, where the dolphins could be reintroduced to their natural habitat, to other dolphins, to more natural conditions. Where they can start fishing on their own and maybe, who knows, be released?

Well at least Nicholas has a "family" at CMA. I don't see how he would have one in the wild unless he finds another one. And who said it's actually conservation. I don't know how other dolphinariums say it, but CMA gives Nicholas a home and has previously rehabilitated him after serious burns. I don't think he forgot that and I think he's happy, unlike other dolphins.

+LightningToothless it's not "family". He's not kept with other Dolphins, completely unnatural compared to the pods in the wild. The Dolphins may not be suitable for release but a seapen or a netted off cove as retirement. They would be able to experience currents, sand, rocks and eat live fish
