Well, I have an auto and 4wd push button on high range on my fj60 and got myself in trouble by thinking it was in 4wd and it wasn't, no time to get it engaged. Either way it was a great video. A bit of excitement never goes astray anyway.
I did that once in my surf with push button 4wd too. It was a great video. If it were me I would have not taken the 4by out of 4wd for the whole trip. I even use 4wd high on gravel. Of course my current car is constant 4wd anyway but it’s the first one I’ve ever had that is like that. The rest were all part time 4bies in the past. Not everyone drives that way I guess.

Lol we do this all the time never have our cars in four-wheel-drive even coming up to the challenge and think “doesn’t look that hard we should be able to make it” and that’s referring to having it in 2wheel drive
I would not be driving around in 4wd all the time. Most of the time I would try in 2wd for fun, then when you get stuck put it in 4wd. That's just me trying to extract them most fun.
Eveyone should understand that those guys are the modern equivalent of magazines... remember when you used to go down to the newsagent to buy the latest edition of (whatever your thing was)? Of course it's entertainment. Like the time they were on the thousand-dollar-track and the alternator fouls up with mud and they pull out the 'spare' alternator and put it in. If nothing happens, why would you go back to watch the next edition.
Remember Shaun answering a 'viewers' question... should i get a pedal controller or a tune. The answer? he literally said 'get both, they're both great'. They cannot say one thing that appears to hurt another sponsor. So be careful to recognise the spin.
I dont drive around everywhere in 4wd . Only put it in when you really need it . I dont know why you would need to have a vechicle in 4wd on a reasonably hard road surface
It reduces the creation of corrugations on an unsealed surface and is also better if there are corrugations to stop the back end from skipping out around corners, especially when loaded. It also doesn’t cause any other issues provided the front and rear diffs an slip enough while turning on the surface the tyres are on. Why would you not have it in 4wd? Better for the tracks/roads and safer. Fuel usage would be almost immeasurable between the two.
They're always either faking it or looking for the most challenging way through. I'm older and I have more respect for the tracks....if there's 2 ways to go, I'll pick the easiest one every time....but I'm not doing it for the $$$ and pissing competition like those drongos are.
Haha yes been a long time since I was on there. Wow that brings back some memories! Always loved your posts. The old dual cab GU with a Brunswick yeah?
I guess I missed this, but yeah totally on purpose, if not a total mistake!? If it were a mistake I feel like they would have said that, he’s made goof’s before and admitted it, so this is interesting
It's pretty easy to tell. I realised this after watching random guys/girls on youtube just out 4wding over the weekend. Uploading the same tracks crawling through them just above idle in their Hilux or pajero. Going out and having a go myself I was kinda shocked at how much punishment they take out on their vehicles and tracks. There's always the random "ohh, woops I'm bogged to the sills in the sand, pull out the maxtrax" moment. Excitement and drama sells product I guess.
As much as you can spot them staging it some of the time just to build excitement I think everyone can agree they’re still entertaining to watch whether they fake some of it or not
A lot of the time they take an awful line up obstacles. They also put so much strain on cvs going full send up a rock crawl with the front diff locked. One of the current presenters in the old patrol is borderline damaging the track by bouncing it off the red line in high range. That's not responsible 4wding, and ruining it for everyone
Let's not forget that they've been on the road for about a week by this point. It's very hard to think straight after so much driving especially at the end of the day. I really doubt they were conspiring about how to get more ratings.
of course he got stuck on purpose, most of the boggings are done for entertainment, it's a shame they can't use that "enertainment" to promote better winching practices though.
I have also spotted that 30's front wheels are not spinning. I think he was in 2WD beacause they were in a pretty remote trip and shauno can save a bit of fuel on 2WD. Maybe he forget that and he went straight up the crossing. But I can't understand about the clunk of the 30. If you have a closer look at the front of the 30 at 1:36 (1080p) you can see that the camera car has been there before the 30. Beacuse camera car is running goodyear wrangler ATs and you can clearly see their thread pattern on sand. 1st try - maybe he was in 2WD beacuse his front wheels didn't spin. 2nd try - He was in 4WD and all 4 wheels spined, but the problem there was is, the wheel ruts were too big and he didn't have much momentum there, so he couldn't get up the bank. 3rd try - He made a new line through there and did it in he's style.🔥 > The other boys made it look to easy beacuse they went up on Shaun's wheel ruts.
Yes I think your right mate, these guys are pros at what they do & do well. These blokes would second nature drop there rigs into 4 Hi as soon as they leave the black top. Shauno was NOT in 4WD period, neither wheel budged or slipped at all & if he wanted he's twin locked. I think you hit the nail on the head & yes it was a staged slow day. Well spotted by the way, but nah they had a sock in there pocket & faked it.
Yeah that was my thought too. I mean imagine driving all the way up there with all the gear, supplies, cost of fuel, then going oh well that was not great TV today. 🤣

But Mines newer so it blinks to let you know it's not in yet where I don't know if he would have any indicator that it wasn't. As soon as he put it in reverse it probably finally engaged.
Hey Mike
Yeah Mal
How come we didn't use that bridge over there.
I have been a 4WD 24/7 for long time - Now I am quite board with them...
@chris beerad No - Doing tracks in Mars... WHF ?
4wd 24/7 is just a big advertising series. Just hear them say the name of their winch every time they are using the winch. :D
I watched it the other night and thought something was weird when front wheels weren’t turning
Do you reckon it was in purpose?
@@JebbreysJibberish ya now you mention it I think it was
Otherwise the boys would have paid out on him forgetting to put into 4wd
I mean we always though the unlock one hub to your mates car was a great laugh, but if that was the case, yeah they would have made that a thing. Probably would have been better faking the practical joke than just leaving it like they did and obviously fake. Top gear guys used to play jokes on each other and I bet they was to break up the boring bits but I also bet they were all scripted .
@@JebbreysJibberish that joke was always funny
It usually happened to my car in the deepest bog hole anyone could find
🤣 We used to do it when camped on the beach to the first bloke who went to bed. Next day….. 🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think they faked it otherwise the others would of been paying him out
That’s exactly what I thought!!
Probably forgot, but maybe someone else said let's "hype" it up and not say anything. But from interviews off 4wd247. I'd like to think he could have just said he forgot and we watched it anyways. But the fact of honesty behind it would go down better with anyone with a keen eye ;)
Whatever it is it’s still bloody entertaining.
I think your on the money .
I have seen several pull the wool moments from these guys still enjoy them though.
Same! 👍
@@JebbreysJibberish here in the us it’s common to get a transfer case with a clutch in it so you can switch between 2 and 4 while moving. When your stopped and in gear when you switch it you will get that exact same clunk followed by the front end squatting due to the front drive terrain being loaded and pulling forward on the vehicle. I don’t know the exact setup here but I know it’s a full build so possibly a transfer case and situation similar to what we see here sometimes? Not saying it wasn’t faked just commenting another possible avenue I haven’t seen commented here.
Good pick up, I don't watch them anymore. Too commercial.
Just enjoy the video dude not this deep
You said it yourself twice in the first minute. It's entertainment. I think you are the only one who gives a rip. Claws in catty Cathy.
Remember the time on the Tele-Track they made the kid towing the camper-trailer drop it into gunshot?
The most heinous act that almost did serious damage and possibly injury. But, that company got the views, and Graeme did a nice review of it later in the ep.
It’s best to look at them as four-wheel-drive version of Top Gear fun, but not taken seriously.
Man I thought the same thing. I was like did he forget the front locker…wait did he forget the whole 4wd
🤣
I didn’t realise it was a 4WD channel. I just think of it as an infomercial.
🤣
I also noticed that and commented .
Of course, I think he would have forgotten to engage the 4 into 4 I hope so
Well, I have an auto and 4wd push button on high range on my fj60 and got myself in trouble by thinking it was in 4wd and it wasn't, no time to get it engaged.
@@JebbreysJibberish same here in always in 4x4 on dirt, gives more stability.
@@finnsvensson4674 I just have too much fun getting squarely to keep it in 4wd all the time. I’m also in the us so we don’t worry as much about tearing up the areas we 4x4 in
Here our 4wd areas are closing up faster than a hooker when your credit card is declined. We have to be careful about what we do out there and especially what we put online.
@@JebbreysJibberish Why do they care so much? I ask not in a bad way just that it seems like most of what you guys do out there isn’t that bad for the environment. Stuff mostly closes here due to safety concerns and people getting hurt not due to the terrain being tore up. More and more places are closing or shrinking though.
Saw it straight away he's in 2WD
Oh probably. I got hooked on the show in the early days when it was off roading, but mixed with exploring and fishing. Now it's just selling crap. I fast forward through that.
Forgot to lock the hubs in ?
There is probably lots of stuff they miss (on camera) so they try and recreat it
Well spotted mate...and what you said makes alot of sense...They have a show and they need to entertain people...They get paid to promote whatever they are given...remember the days where kings were the best thing out there????the good old trusty dominator winch and the kings swag???wheres the kings gear now???yeh i wouldnt believe anything these guys say,and i certainly dont buy anything just because they have rated it in their review.... they promote one thing today and another tomorrow ...the show is entertaining and thats about it...
Lol we do this all the time never have our cars in four-wheel-drive even coming up to the challenge and think “doesn’t look that hard we should be able to make it” and that’s referring to having it in 2wheel drive
100% right
It's TV it's always a show, TV is what ever you want it to be
Last time I checked it wasn't TV. It's youtube my friend, content creators gotta be realistic and truthful.
You know who doesn't fake the shots in their videos ? Aussie Arvos.
I would not be driving around in 4wd all the time. Most of the time I would try in 2wd for fun, then when you get stuck put it in 4wd. That's just me trying to extract them most fun.
it is possible that he had not engaged his front lockers
ok, when you say he was in reverse and put it into neutral for the clunk, the backup lights still stay on.
It takes a while for it to engage sometimes. Then it goes clunk! Well that’s my experience.
I think shauno has been sprung
I’m pretty sure he says after he forgot to put his lockers on
That would stop both his front wheels from turning.
Welcome to television mate things get planned for content all the time
Be careful 24/7 does have a legal team that gets used when it suits them......
I explained my opinion and offered varied alternatives as well as asked others options so good luck.
Personal I wouldn't drive around in 4wd all the time and just put it in if you need it
I did notice the car was 2WD when go stuck, normally he admits his mistake, also grahams talk over is a red flag
I also noticed that he was not in 4wd or his hubs were not locked in when I watched this last week.
What do you think the reason was? Prank, forgetfulness or just faking it for drama?
@@JebbreysJibberish Set up to make drama, Amazing how the camera man was set up to film the bogging.
I also noticed some fresh tracks before he hit it the first time which I forgot to point out in the video.
@@JebbreysJibberish From the camera man
Makes sense 👍
I rescued a guy who rolled his car on an unsealed road going around a bend in two wheel drive. Since then I always put mine into 4wd.
They're always either faking it or looking for the most challenging way through.
I'm older and I have more respect for the tracks....if there's 2 ways to go, I'll pick the easiest one every time....but I'm not doing it for the $$$ and pissing competition like those drongos are.
🤣
Are you Roachy from the patrol forum??
@@JebbreysJibberish yes mate...long time ago. Now have a Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax, upgraded to 5,171kg GVM.
Haha yes been a long time since I was on there. Wow that brings back some memories! Always loved your posts. The old dual cab GU with a Brunswick yeah?
I was in there for about a decade or so. Good old forums. Gone the way of the dinosaur now though.
Just hope the people who manage the channel won’t copyright the shut out of this to get it taken down
It’s called fair use. Look it up. 👍
My misses fakes it all the time life goes on. Just want Shauno to take me with em for a trip
Not surprised at all if its a mistake, Shauno does stupid shit all the time, like chasing a fuel fault and realising he hadn’t put diesel in.
🤣
@2:13 you can see the left front wheel spinning…. 🤣🤣
As much as you can spot them staging it some of the time just to build excitement I think everyone can agree they’re still entertaining to watch whether they fake some of it or not
Yeah, I saw that & thought it was fake too! Of course stuff is set up. That's the nature of these guys that have a film crew in toe
When i watched this episode i said to my Mrs that he bogged it on purpose. It was obvious like you say.
100%. It’s all Hollywood mate. 👍
He kind of has to cause the goodyear mtrs have amazing traction
I know on older trucks clunks and noises are common with the transfer case but that sound was almost fake sounding
of course he got stuck on purpose, most of the boggings are done for entertainment, it's a shame they can't use that "enertainment" to promote better winching practices though.
3rd try - He made a new line through there and did it in he's style.🔥
> The other boys made it look to easy beacuse they went up on Shaun's wheel ruts.
Tracks are regularly infront of the "bogged" utes!!!🤔🤔🤔
Everyone needs a good bog now and then
Yes I think your right mate, these guys are pros at what they do & do well. These blokes would second nature drop there rigs into 4 Hi as soon as they leave the black top.
Shauno was NOT in 4WD period, neither wheel budged or slipped at all & if he wanted he's twin locked. I think you hit the nail on the head & yes it was a staged slow day.
Well spotted by the way, but nah they had a sock in there pocket & faked it.
i'm pretty sure this was the episode that graham did it to him he unlocked the hubs on him the shaun does it to him
Yea it is faked but all good. Need entertainment
Yeah that was my thought too. I mean imagine driving all the way up there with all the gear, supplies, cost of fuel, then going oh well that was not great TV today. 🤣
It wouldn’t be Australian of them to let the truth get in the way of a good yarn.
Mate how pissed was i when i purchased a snatch hoody and foud it was made in CHINA there just sell outs not true Aussies
😂😂 Shafted mate.
Yeah that would be the ultimate purchase - made in Australia. If it’s not then it ain’t worth wearing in that ‘guise’. It’s like my caravan mat, I paid extra but it’s got that big arse ‘made in Australia’ logo with our Aussie roo standing proud for all to see.
What irritates me so much is the chuckles and laughs at end of every sentence.
it is all about entertainment
