    I think they do it for the entertainment value most of the time. We met them after the first Lorella trip - they were going around the same area we were, but they did break CVs etc and lost so many tyres they had to turn back, so some of it is real, but the way they drive does lend to breaking things. We did a similar track that not be used for a few years in our Unimog without any hassles.

    4wd247 started as a few blokes out wheeling 4wd, it has grown into a monster in which they MUST provide entertainment to not only satisfy the audience , but the sponsors and financiers too.
    UA-cam is bogged down with staged drama in any walk of life that you can imagine.
    Nobody really cares when it is entertainment. We do have undivided attention to detail when a video is factual.

    They busted 2 4wds doing the old coach road and made it seem like it was super hard. I live in Cairns and have done all the tracks up here and the coach road is a 7/10 in my books. The CREB track is a 5/10 dry and a 9/10 wet. Teletrack 6/10 chicken bypass and 9/10 all obstacles. Frenchmans track would be a 7/10. There is 10/10 out there but I do most 4WDing solo and have to be cautious not to get myself in too deep. I have no doubt that the boys from 4WD 24/7 embellish in their adventures, but thats entertaining to watch.

    It's so they can get footage of the runva winch to keep them happy. I was recently talking to one of the members of 4wd247 and he mentioned how they all the time have to use a fkn winch when an easy snatch could be used, but they need the footage of them using the winch for runva. I noticed that scene too and it stuck out like dogs balls.

      but the steering feel is better and also the 80 series are known for weak cvs and front diff so having the part time kit if one was to break I can simply go on in 2wd and get out of trouble.

      I did that once in my surf with push button 4wd too. It was a great video. If it were me I would have not taken the 4by out of 4wd for the whole trip. I even use 4wd high on gravel. Of course my current car is constant 4wd anyway but it’s the first one I’ve ever had that is like that. The rest were all part time 4bies in the past. Not everyone drives that way I guess.

    • @JebbreysJibberish
      @JebbreysJibberish  2 роки тому +2

      It reduces the creation of corrugations on an unsealed surface and is also better if there are corrugations to stop the back end from skipping out around corners, especially when loaded. It also doesn’t cause any other issues provided the front and rear diffs an slip enough while turning on the surface the tyres are on. Why would you not have it in 4wd? Better for the tracks/roads and safer. Fuel usage would be almost immeasurable between the two.

Going out and having a go myself I was kinda shocked at how much punishment they take out on their vehicles and tracks. I have also spotted that 30's front wheels are not spinning. I think he was in 2WD beacause they were in a pretty remote trip and shauno can save a bit of fuel on 2WD. Maybe he forget that and he went straight up the crossing. But I can't understand about the clunk of the 30.
    If you have a closer look at the front of the 30 at 1:36 (1080p) you can see that the camera car has been there before the 30. Beacuse camera car is running goodyear wrangler ATs and you can clearly see their thread pattern on sand.
    1st try - maybe he was in 2WD beacuse his front wheels didn't spin.
    2nd try - He was in 4WD and all 4 wheels spined, but the problem there was is, the wheel ruts were too big and he didn't have much momentum there, so he couldn't get up the bank.
    3rd try - He made a new line through there and did it in he's style.🔥
    > The other boys made it look to easy beacuse they went up on Shaun's wheel ruts.
