How to Easily get your Cars Blower Motor Working Again "No Tools Needed"

- How to easily tell if the blower motor in your car is bad. this video will also show you how you can get your cars blower motor going again. If tapping on it does not work and your blower motor is not working on any speed you can just go under the dash below the glove box on most cars and unplug the 2 pin connection going to the blower motor to make sure you have 12volt with a multimeter or a test light and if you do that mean your blower motor is bad.
But in most cases just tapping on it can get it going again a lot of the timing. If it does then you know it will need to be replaced because the brushes in the motor are wearing out.

One tap is all that it took to turn back on. Thought it was fake until now. Thank you
I watched what feels like a million videos on why the air and defrost stopped working in my wife's Outback. Saw this one and thought I'd give the tap tapnthing a try before going and buying a new blower fan. I'll be damned, this worked. Thank you!
Was about to order a resistor till I tried tapping the blower motor worked for about 5 seconds then stopped again new blower motor ordered. Thanks for the video
Is that what it means cause my car did the same thing I'm hoping it's not the compressor or anything else
Thats common for them to start again after whacking them.
The tapping worked I got the blower working, super helpful video!
Is it still working
YOU ARE THE MAN !!! THIS WORKED !!! I WAS IN SHOCK.... you def got a sub and a like and a comment from me. Thank you veryyyy much.
Tried this tonight and it worked to my surprise, now does this mean that its the motor that's at fault ?? Thank you btw
Ya know what I did that worked for a bit I took out the blower motor put rubbing alcohol in the hole on the bottom spun it to clean it sprayed wd40 in there and she worked like a charm for longer than this
just banged under my glove box and it came back on thankyou so much! Stranded in a snow squal and it's 20 degrees.
Thanks, I did the same after your comment and it worked! I didn't even have to pop the hood.
Phew
Did this fix last you a while, how long?
What if the blower motor was changed, but it still doesn’t work? Resister?
I was able to jump start my blower motor like this but it’s not working anymore. It will get the fan just barely spinning and also makes a noise. Should I replace the entire blower motor or could be something else?
yes, it's time to let that good boy rest
holy crap, this worked, turned right on
Sometimes it works, Sometimes it don't. That's a temporary fix but what's the permanent fix? A fuse a relay, a spark plug, or we have to get a whole new blower?
It's the motor if you knocked it and it worked am guessing
Simple, if you bang on the blower motor assembly and it starts working again, then it needs replaced.
Well new brushes if you can find them or replacement
after a battery short, my motor only works on high. I've read it's the resistor. I had the issue before for like a month a year ago, but then it suddenly started working again after I replaced my cabin filter a few weeks later.
That is only a temp fix tapping on it just helps the magnetic field grab then it will run but it def means the brushes are shot and are in the early stages of failure
Life saver! Thank you
I tried tapping f and it does work momentarily, but shuts off again eventually, does that just mean it’s not working out right and I should replace as it’s going bad or should I try and clean it out?
It means it’s on its last leg. Best to go ahead and replace it.
Thanks so much. Now on to the search.
2007 Saturn ION 3
😂😂😂 I remember doing this to old tv..!! 😂😂
I've replaced the blower motor 4 times. Sometimes it quits within 5 min, other times it goes a day or two. When I check it, it's shorted out. Full power on one side and full power comes out the other side. New resistor and controller. All wiring checked, has ground, signal wire working all the way to motor. When it's first connected, works in all speeds. Turn the truck off, start it back and shorted out. Multimeter on the wires so no jolts or anything. Power is cut when key is off and resumes when controller comes back on. Am I get bad motors one after another? Like every motor is shorting out? I've been told some people go through 4 or 5 starters before they get a good one. Maybe the same for a two wire blower motor?
can it be repaired if it starts and stops ???
My heater blower suddenly stopped working. It works when I start with the remote start but cuts out when I put the key in and turn it. Any thoughts?
I tested mine on a 12v battery it worked i replaced the resistor it still wont work ? Im thinking its the switch now
The blower motor stopped working but when I pushed on the connection from blower motor thinking it could be loose it would start blowing air again and would stop and I would repeat the same thing, that worked for a few times but now that's not working. The motor is working right now full air flow on high everytime but I'm not sure if the blower motor in going out or what the issue is. Any suggestions, thanks!
But why does it happen? 3 different work trucks I've had, kicking the dash would get it to kick back on...
It happens because the brushes are bad
@@kgrizzly1616 I was able to jump start my blower motor like this but now when I do the fan hardly spins and is making a noise. Replace the entire blower motor or could be something else?
thank you so much
You're welcome!
My interior fan was on although the car was off. I already knew my resistor was bad because one of the speeds didn't work so whenever it wouldn't turn off I just switched it to that setting and it stayed off. Later that day the fan wouldn't kick back on so I replaced the resistor and it did not fix the issue. The fuses are good. Figured if it was the relay it wouldn't work period whenever it was running whenever off. So I'm not sure what is going on. Bad control module? Bad bcm? Electrical issues are a pain. Every now and again my traction light comes on and goes off. Also, my stereo will power off and immediately power on a few seconds afterward. Gonna tap the fan tomorrow and see what happens. Does anyone have any advice?
I have a 2014 Kia SORENTO. Last couple weeks the air keeps steady fading out then eventually goes off. I can shut the vehicle off for a min. Turn it on and hit a bump or slap the side of the dash and it comes back on and fades out AGAIN 😂. So I guess I’m gonna be out $120.00 for another blower motor 😢
Thanks 👍
thank you
Blower motor on 2003 f150 suddenly stopped today. Tomorrow im gonna play taps😮
Hahahah this worked. Thank you
How is only music an explanation?
That will be $200 dollars 😂
No I am not better off than I was 4 years ago
I just gave it a tapped and it worked! Thank you!
This video was very helpful. I had a bad "resistor" and a bad motor. The 2005 Envoy has two types of temperature controls - manual and auto. The "resistor" puts out pulsed 12 volts that reads from 0 to 7 vdc on an analog meter. The blower was on all the time (even with the ignition key off and out). When I replaced the resistor, the blower didn't work. Its commutator was badly burned. Tapping the blower did get it running again but I could smell the burning at the commutator.
OMG LOLOLOLOLOL I reached in to my blower motor and gave it a tappy tap and BAM it was back on again 😳 😍 😄 🙌 thanks so much.
I cannot thank u enough for this video u save my a$$ some cash 4 sure thank you I dropped a like subbed and will be checking ur page for more
Thank God for this Video, the lil Hit under the dash actually worked!
i replaced my 2014 lincoln navigator blower motor about 2 weeks ago and it just started to fail again. If I give it a little tap, it starts up again. Any thoughts? Loose wire somewhere? Seems weird.
Hey I know this was asked 6 months ago lol. But check the wire harness leading to the resistor and the harness from the resistor to the blower. Run the fan for 10 mins and feel the wire to see if it's hot. I went through 3 or 4 fans in my 2010 Ford escape until I realized that the wire needed to be replaced. It was getting hot and making the brushes wear down quickly.
I smacked the side of mine and it kicked back on. Thanks for such an easy test!
Is it still working
A little tappy tap worked on my Subaru crosstrek!, now i know, thanks Flat Rate Mech!
03 Tacoma air will stop blowing for a few seconds and then comes right back on. This is occurred with the AC on and also with the AC off. Checked the refrigerant levels they are up in the filled position AC blows cold. AC fuse looks good. Could this be caused by the blower motor is bad/malfunctioning?
I have kicked them plenty of times and it does work
Well that's a relief! Couldn't find the fan under the bonnet or under the dash, but opted for a good dash-top slap and hey presto! Thanks a lot for this tip.
Thank you so much I'm throughly impressed. I'm a single mom and can't afford to take my car to the shop. .. I banged on the back of the blower motor by removing only the front glove box and it worked! I thank you so much
Why does tapping it turn it on again? What is actually happening
"No tools needed." Grabs tool to tap it. Lol 😂😂😂
Good tip Thanks! Got mine back working again also!
Just saved me a new blower. Liked and subscribed. Thank you
Is it still working
Worked like a charm. Cheers boss
Why do I have to hit the glove box for my ac to blow air out
Nice one thanks
YES, THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!
Are you using 12 V for that test
i just did this earlier with a rubber mallet and it worked perfect..then i go online and see this video..now i know its the blower moter and not anything else
I installed a new blower motor and it worked for 7 days, then I hit a pot hole and it stopped working. I will try this and check the wires. I do feel cold air, its just not blowing. Could it be the resistor?
Worked like a freaking charm. Thanks so much 🙏
You are amazing just did this and it worked!!! Like and subscribe earned
I replaced my resistor and my fan stays on high
It works for me this way.thanks
THANK YOU!!!
Thanks
You are the man
Not really a way to make it work properly. this might last you a couple weeks tapping it to get it going, but then its going to work even more intermittently than it already is. Not to mention it could also be a bad motor resistor, or also a fuse about to blow. Probably about the worst advice. If its a newer car you're going to need to test power and ground if its an electrical system. Could also be vacuum or mechanical system which require different techniques
He says in the video that it is a temporary fix and explains about the brushes in the motor going bad. He is trying to demonstrate how to get it going until you can get a new one.
Read the description moron.
so putting too much freon in it could cause the blower motor to go out? I put a whole can in and don't even think I needed and then less then a week later blower motor went out.
I'm just gonna hook up an x power fan in my car then fuck that goddamn blower motor
