Ubuntu Mate is a great flavour of Ubuntu... but I think it cannot defeat Fedora on my main. However... the 11 reasons that you've shared are pretty reasonable. I love it. The best feature of it is its layouts. These layouts are very cool. Nice flavour.
It should at least be as popular as XFCE as they're very comparable. Actually, I think Mate is more polished and customizable. But while XFCE gets its fair amount of attention, Mate seems to get relatively none.
Don't care about mate but your explanations and case study for usage is logical rather than sentimental and as a result it makes a certain sense to look into such a desktop environment that is actively being maintained. 👍👍
Glad you found the video enjoyable Pemus. Yeah Ubuntu Mate is very actively maintained and it definitely has its appeal to people looking to just get some work done.
hello, I was thinking that is it possible to run desktop linux in non apple silicon ARM processor. I found that Arch has a variant which can run on ARM, can u make a video as a review or explanation plz.
Your videos are superb thanks for that.iam using linux mint everything is excellent except one thing.that is chrome scrolling is not fluid as much as windows. Its feeling like dragging a hard solid rock. Even in Ubuntu i have observed that no smooth scrolling of chrome. Please can you suggest some settings or any solution.

That's actually the point. It was originally a continuation of Gnome 2, which was originally released in 2002, after the Gnome team moved on to Gnome 3 in 2011.
So. Linux Mint MATE is better. I love MATE, it's fast simple pretty intuitive and does everything you need with low RAM usage, While Linux Mint is downstream of Ubuntu (this updated around 6 months later) it is much better than Ubuntu as (1) typically faster in speed testing (2) Doesn't force snaps on you (3) is more polished. Basically it's like Ubuntu that a team are had another look over to make a slightly better version.
@@matyasmarkkovacs8336 Cinnamon feels better on the same machine when compared with Mate, it's user experience and response is better, like it's animation and also I find it snappier when compared with Mate. Also I have to use Zoom for my office purposes, Cinnamon supports it in a better way (you'll see it while sharing your screen). Also Ubuntu Mate's firefox snap is quite slow as compared to Native package or flaptpak. When it comes to sound the output quality and volume (out of the box) is better in Mint. THANK YOU. That was a very clear and informative review of Ubuntu Mate. I'm going to put Mate on an old PC and let her see what using a good operating system is really like!
Great channel with informative introduction at all times. I only use Linux on VM and frankly there is nothing that works properly with linux, bluetooth, USB etc… and tons of features simply don't work. End up with sudo this and sudo that and still not getting anywhere! Spending hours and hours for nothing! Is it the VM or we’ve completely overrated Linux!

MATE still does not support desktop icons, right?
What Linux users really need is a well refined version of Wine that will guarantee seamless instillation & function of Windows software utilities.
No. Most Linux users are fine with the Linux apps. There are good alternatives for Windows apps.

"superweight system" is not the best in 2022 - cheapest PC/laptops have 4 gb of ram, and that is necessary for modern internet surfing
