+RemlapEntertainment Yeah, this is it. Sometimes home schooled kids turn out a little bit different. They might be socially weird, they might be super smart, etc. If Colin is weird in any way it's that he's so nice. He just hasn't been hardened by the cruelty of public school. Instead he's just a kind loving guy that wants nothing but the best for everybody. It kind of sucks a bit extra any time he has a problem like this. It looks like he'll be ok but it's a rough experience to go through.
+WoodysGamertag so sorry woody , it will be a good story for him to talk about when he is older and maybe make him more resilient to things in the future, kids are fragile but also extremely tough. All the best to you and your family!!!
+WoodysGamertag I would feel pretty badass having a team of surgeons called in specially for my injury. Not saying I want something like that to happen to me but would be cool. Anyways I wouldn't blame you at all for that. Completely just bad luck.
+WoodysGamertag you didn't do anything wrong here woody. These freak things happen, it is just a part of growing up. You even got him steel toe's, my parents let me chop wood in tennis shoes. Don't feel to bad.
This comment section is awful. Woody, you're a great father. You've provided a fantastic life for your children. When you involve your children in your daily tasks, it's wonderful for their development, but that comes with some risks. Unfortunately, Colin was a victim of those risks, but you don't need to blame yourself. You were just trying to make him feel involved, teach him a few things, and later in life I'm sure that Colin will appreciate that. I'm very happy that Colin made it through his injury and his surgery so well, and I'm sure you are, too, Woody. We all should be very thankful that Colin's doctors and nurses got him in so quickly so that he wouldn't be as stressed out. As for the comments regarding Hope: Seriously, guys? Hope is definitely a beautiful young lady, but comments like those are never appropriate. Get over yourself. Realize that Woody is putting his life out here for you to enjoy through the ups and downs. This video especially is not the place for you to say these things. In conclusion, Woody, thank you for showing us what it means to be a great father. You're truly an inspiration, and I hope that one day I can care for my children and be as involved in their lives as you are with yours. Though some people in your comment section may not be as kind, I can't express my appreciation for your content enough. Thank you again.
Don't feel so down on yourself woody, I wish and like a lot of people wish that they would have had a dad like you that would spend time with their kids.
Stay strong Woody freak accidents happen. This doesn't impact you as an amazing father what so ever. You are an incredible person and don't you ever think differently. We love you.
Holy shit Woody I could feel your pain watching this, hope he gets better, he's a strong boy! Don't blame yourself theses things happen and you took all the precautions you could.
Just to let you know you aren't the only Dad who gave their son an axe, I've done it and many have before, your just unlucky the 1/1000 accident happened to you
Hey Woody, don't feel bad. You did the right thing by taking precautions, treating it quickly, and attempting to involve Collin in real work. Things happen, most everyone has a bad injury from childhood; even you! You broke your arm so bad it needed surgery. This was a step in parenting and growing up, and a hard one to take. Be thankful we have such great medical abilities today, and I hope you still involve Collin going forward so he isn't scared of tools that need respect.
I don't know why, but this hit hard for me. Writing this exactly 5 minutes in and I find myself getting progressively anxious, at the thought of something going this badly, when in all fairness, you were just trying to be a good dad. There's nothing in this world that could make me cry faster that seeing my loved ones in pain, and being associated to the injury is a MAJOR downer. I can't even imagine what you're going through Woody, stay strong, and best of luck. - Just a random fan
These things happen in life. Everyone deals with accidents/injuries. Don't let it discourage you from doing lots of activities with him! Hope he heals up well!
from a mom with 3 sons, I have had many trips to the ER cause boys will be boys. Woody, accidents happen, this was just an accident. Just give him extra loving and whatever he wants while he heals. It is definitely not your fault trust me! Take care of that cute kid!!
Don't blame yourself Woody! Sure this might bad at the moment but as you said it will probably be healed. It is great how you enable Colin to have all these experiences and getting hurt sometimes is part of the experience. You can't protect your children from everything. I am sure one day Colin will look back on being outside and splitting wood with you and will remember it fondly.
Poor Colin, but this did show me just how much Colin has grown since I started watching. I remember when I couldn't understand a word that Colin said, and as time has gone on I've noticed his speech and listening improve ten fold. Not to mention how mature he was before and after the surgery. Get well soon Colin! And Woody, it's not your fault.
Sorry to hear that Woody, hope Colin recovers fully. I know part of you is probably blaming yourself for letting Colin help out, but just don't. Shit happens, and you're awesome to include him in stuff and he'll remember that fondly for the rest of his life.
Woody there is no need to worry. This is coming from someone who has cut from between the index finger and thumb about 6cm+ diagonally through the full thickness of my hand. I cut through tendons and the bone. I was 16 at the time and my dad was freaking out apologising, much like you are, for letting me use the saw. I know it sounds amazingly obvious but its amazing what they can do in hospitals. I had to wait 5 days for the surgery. After 2 weeks they allowed me to start excercises to strengthen it back up. I have full control of all fingers now and it is almost like new. Just make sure he doesn't rush into physical activities. Sacrifice now for miniscule issues in the future! Hope yous are all well :)
Woody you were my first youtuber that I've subscribed to, not gonna say i am your biggest fan because there are crazies out there that overkill the im your fan thing... But what i do feel is like a family member across the country that never speak, but have feelings for each other like family. When you started to tear up in the truck i started to cry an hope calming you down help me calm down aswell. Love you guy's keep up the good work.
Your a great dad Woody. I have few scars my self, they are like tattoos but with better stories. When he looks at it later he'll think of you not in a bad way but of how he was chopping wood with his dad outside doing "guy stuff"
Best wishes to Colin, hope he has a speedy recovery. Woody, don't be too hard on yourself. Accidents happen... this was just bad luck, not bad parenting.
Woody did everything right in my opinion. If you want your kid to get better at things, you have to let them actually work at them. There was a ton of evidence that he'd be fine with this given his excellent physical coordination. Woody got Collin protective boots and everything. Random flukes happen.
Woody, long time viewer here. Your family has progressed well in front of the camera in comparison to when they popped in earlier in the channel. Naturals! Awesome to hear Colin's doing better, weird how you can have such an emotional connection to someone you've never met. He's gonna kill it when he grows up!
+danjoe5519 Yeah, he probably should have clarified that the chunks weren't from Colin's foot... Unless they were, but that's more of a liveleak kind of video... If Colin were older, i'd say Woody should have put a video up there too...
I'm so sorry Woody! I hope he gets better soon and he enjoys showing off his axe wound scar when he gets older instead of having it be a traumatic memory.
I can hear it in your voice that you are hurt, and you should know that you did nothing wrong! It was an amazing gesture of you do bring your son into doing something with you! Sorry to hear about the situation and i hope he recovers quickly!
Woodcutting is a much more dangerous activity than most would think. What Colin did is a very common mistake. Missing and hitting your leg is something people new to it don't really think about. It's something you definitely need to be aware of while using an axe. Hopefully this video will do some good and cause people to think twice when cutting wood.
My thoughts go to Colin! And its definitely not your fault if you ask me, these things happen. My dad was teaching me how to split wood, so of course I got the axe stuck in my calf-bone. It hurt and I had to remove some bone-fragments, but to this day I'm still happy that my dad included me, bonded with me and taught me a useful skill.
This kind of stuff just happens and it is part of life. You did not do nothing wrong, you're a great parent. Accidents happen. Hope all the best to your family and quick recovery for your son.
When I was that age I was doing that kind of stuff all the time but your right about being a parent and how it's different. Glad to see he is doing better.
I'm so sorry to see this... That wound in the boot looked so scary. I'm only a few minutes in the video. I just hope he's okay. As I'm typing this... I just saw the shot of you hosing down the car mat. That was such an emotional moment. My god. I know it doesn't mean much, but that was incredible documentary filmmaking. You captured the essence of your story without using any words, and showing just imagery. I hate to say good job... but it was very effective.
Woody it's been a while since I've saw Colin in a video of yours. I want to say that his speech, from the last time I can remember, has gotten so much better. Happy for you guys and the work your doing with him.
You can't blame yourself if he missed the toe reinforcement, that is just Murphy's law woody. Hope Collin feels better soon! P.S. His speech has gotten so much bettersince the last time I seen a video with him, that's awesome! ~Brandon
Get well soon Collin.. This was just heartbreaking, truly.. This is one of those freak things as 9 times out of 10 the axe would hit the steel capped boot, I really hope he gets better and gains full use of his foot again.
Even though they were all short answers. Colin is still much better at listening to your questions and answering them right then with out slipping on words. It is magnificent.
Try not to blame yourself woody. Shitty things happen to everyone. You're a good father, don't let this change it. Mad respect to hope for being on Woody's side.
Woody you and Collin will look back at everything that you do together now and love it. I promise you that Collin will hold these memories close to him throughout his life, even the bad ones. Trust me my dad did the same thing with me when I was young and I hated it back then but now that I am grown up I miss spending that quality time with him. Sometimes kids have to learn the hard. He'll thank you for it down the road.
Way to go Woody for involving your kid in an activity even though you don't need to. Even when he isn't that helpful. Speaks volumes about you as a parent. Accidents (some are worse than others unfortunately) happen. Don't let that deter you from involving him and just being a great father in general. Keep it up.
Colin's speech is exceptionally good. I used to really struggle to understand him sometimes, but now I don't really have a problem. Get well soon!!!!! #TeamColin!!!!!
Totally feel for you Woody, remember though this is part of life training, you can't protect Colin from everything. Involving him in these activities will always outweigh the potential dangers.Steel capped boots are designed to do what happened, deflect the object to the back of the toes so they are easier to repair.Keep up the great work, hopefully Colin will get back up and try again.Accidents happen.
Woody, don't get yourself down man, honest mistakes happen, and atleast this didn't happen during the 1800s he might have just had 3 bad toes, they can fix it. Atleast Colin didn't take an arrow to the knee that would end his adventuring career.
Woody, Don't blame yourself, you are a great father there is nothing anyone could have done. Accidents happen, seriously you are a great father. Hope Collin gets better.
Sht happens woody. Good parents include their kids in activities. Great parents care the way that you care for your children. Get a Jenga tournament that will make him feel better!!! Hope all is going okay!
The rubber mat for the car really makes this thing online so real. I understand why my dad was always so worried about me being around the axes / hatchets now. Such a shame this happened, I hope for a quick recovery for everyone.
Woody you shoulder none of this blame. You can't protect him from every freak accident. In your head you probably feel you instigated it with giving him the axe, but no.. if one day you hand someone a pen and they stab themselves you can't control that. These things happen. Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm cliche-ing out my ass right now. xD
Wow, seeing the blood wash away from the truck mat made me recognize how real the situation is. I wish Colin a speedy recovery and I would love to see his parkour skills when he gets back up and running. Love you Woody, shit happens, you're a great Dad and all around person
U can see the pain and suffering in woods eyes iknow as a dad myself u always worry Hope Colin gets better soon accidents happen u can't prevent everything best wishes to u all
+tnnss111 I mean companies make guns for kids. Small motorized vehicles for kids. Bikes, skateboards, etc. List goes on and on. Kids have been doing much harder labor than chopping wood for thousands of years. Shit happens to kids. Luckily kids are very resilient and modern medicine is excellent.
He loves you, you love him. He was helping you, he'll always remember his helping dad stories. Think about Kyle and his dad stories. What boy didn't have their dad be with them when they hurt themselves? I just watched this, and I see good bonding between father and son. A good caring father. And a speedy recovery.
I was sure when I looked into the comments I was going to see people saying how bad of a parent is he but all the comments were good. I guess all of his haters stopped watching his videos
Don't feel so bad woody accidents happen man you did everything right. You spent time with your son, you taught him how to use the axe and you got him the proper safety equipment with the shoes. Sometimes no matter how much you prepare shit just happens. Seems like he will be back to normal with a cool story and scar to tell people about in no time.
+Christian Penney Jr it's use as a curse implies some acknowledgement of the power it holds. just like if you say shit a lot, you acknowledge that shit is bad.
+Thomas Willard Or it's just because its so frequently used in the english vernacular it's just something we dont give any thought to, we just say it instinctually. If im pissed I dont stop and think about whether to say fuck or shit, i just say one.
+Christian Penney Jr because those words have a specific meaning behind them. You don't generally hear someone go "Puppies sugar" when they are angry. similarly, using "god" as your standard curse or buffer happens because you prefer that word over another.
When you allow your children to progress, that involves them taking risks.
You still did the right thing.
True!
+christopherwillson very true
+christopherwillson True. Like that time I reached down my pants and since that day, I have never looked back.
+RAYDi8OR And it made your life worth living ;-)
christopherwillson I'm being serious though. I was actually scared to do it then one day I thought "fuck it".
Now that he has an axe wound he is gonna be the coolest kid in homeschool. A+ parenting Woody
he gets all the chicks. lol

Best wishes to Colin, hope he has a speedy recovery. Woody, don't be too hard on yourself. Accidents happen... this was just bad luck, not bad parenting.
Woody don't beat yourself up over it. It was a freak accident
Yeah, I feel like he's taking some blame. He was just trying to involve him.
Woody did everything right in my opinion. If you want your kid to get better at things, you have to let them actually work at them. There was a ton of evidence that he'd be fine with this given his excellent physical coordination. Woody got Collin protective boots and everything. Random flukes happen.
So sorry to hear this Woody. Hope Colin recovers quickly. Such a shitty injury.
Woody, long time viewer here. Your family has progressed well in front of the camera in comparison to when they popped in earlier in the channel. Naturals! Awesome to hear Colin's doing better, weird how you can have such an emotional connection to someone you've never met. He's gonna kill it when he grows up!
Watching you rinse the car mat was brutal.
+danjoe5519 Yeah, he probably should have clarified that the chunks weren't from Colin's foot... Unless they were, but that's more of a liveleak kind of video... If Colin were older, i'd say Woody should have put a video up there too...

it's not Woody's weakness
When I was that age I was doing that kind of stuff all the time but your right about being a parent and how it's different. Glad to see he is doing better.
His speech seemed improved aswell! Hope you feel better Collin.
Colin's speech has improved so much in the past years its kind of amazing to see and makes you curious for the future.

6:00 to 6:30
He puts them on upside down too. See ya in 4 years!
I kinda feel bad giving this video a like... It feels like liking the fact that Collin got hurt, which I obviously don´t! Get well soon Collin !

What is wrong with you people making horrible comments? Praying for a speedy recovery for him. :)

The rubber mat for the car really makes this thing online so real. I understand why my dad was always so worried about me being around the axes / hatchets now. Such a shame this happened, I hope for a quick recovery for everyone.
Shit happens Woody, not your fault! Hope Colin gets well soon
+Braeden Montague It's funny because he has a kid named Hope. Or, it's not funny but. Shit.
+MrSchandl Lol nice catch
He's a fighter like the rest of your family Woody; with your support he'll bounce right back to normal.
Speedy recovery little man!
Fuck I was cringing so hard watching this.
"Cringing"
+Halen78 I think he was talking about cringing when woody was describing the in injury.
+TheBushwooky I agree
TheBushwooky Wow thank you! I thought that was obvious...? Wasnt it?
ThoseJerseyGamers 9 people seem to agree with him and think im a troll hahaha
Glad everything appeared to go so well, fast recovery bud!!!
Bad things happening to good people? Life truly is a bitch.
Praying on a speedy recovery! Love that kid
Sad house at 7:35
Ily
U can see the pain and suffering in woods eyes iknow as a dad myself u always worry Hope Colin gets better soon accidents happen u can't prevent everything best wishes to u all
Every bit after 16:59 Colin is like piss off dad im trying to watch this here
On a good note your hair looks marvelous
Lol she really blamed the company for making a child sized axe. Can't say I'm surprised.
+tnnss111 To much time on tumblr.
Not religious but I will definitely keep Colin in my thoughts! Hope for a speedy recovery!
I didn't know you had to be religious to think.
Holy smokes! I didn't know how bad it was when you were explaining it, but when you showed the boot! Wow. Get better soon, Colin!
@5:20 holy shit I was not expecting that
Best wishes Collin. Just remember you're still a boss!
For an atheist Woody says God a lot.
The word god isn't exclusive to any religion, or lack there of. It's just a word.
