I watched again and it's not surprising why he won. He didn't "not practice". That's misleading, he practiced a lot and made the routine, he just broke his usual habit of practicing the day before and ended up stress-free. So moral of the story: practice hard, don't practice the day before competition, sleep well and perform well.
