I had the same problem! Ask your doctor for a prescription to keep your dog, that way you can live in an apartment that doesn't allow pets! Because your pet is an "emotional support dog" that is not a lie, when it comes to our fur babies! Lots of love and prayers!

Yes, I want a couple of pets but because of this issue I can't have any. This truly breaks my heart because I love animals of all kinds and I know I would be a great pet mother as I have been in the past. These landlords are getting worse and worse regarding the discrimination towards animals. The shelters are filling up but you have loving people like myself that would love to take some of them in with no problems but unfortunately we can't all because we rent property leaving these poor baby's to suffer this is so sad.

When we rented out our old house, I put in the ad that all dogs/breeds were ok because we have GSDs and a Staffy and I know it’s so hard to find a rental with big dogs of certain types. When I was in real estate I also helped a few folks with big dogs find rentals. My advice for pibble/bully owners was - unless you have a dna test or one is required - that dog is a lab/boxer mix. 😋
I will from now on always refer to Pitbulls and their mixes as "Pibbles". Thank you. Also, I appreciate the ad you used in the past. It's never happened to me, but I've heard horror stories of trying to find apartments with big dogs.

That is how I ended up with my current Shepherd. My shepherds human had his HOA change the rules on him to only allow dogs below a certain weight. He was paying for a her to be kept in a very nice kennel/doggie hotel. My Ex-wife is the head of the no kill county animal shelter here. (we did wolf-dog rescue together) When we ran into each other and she heard of my dogs passing, she said "I think I know of the perfect dog for you" The owner wouldn't put her up for adoption because he wanted her to go to someone special who was 100% solid. She showed me her photos and said "Do you want to meet her?" To which I replied "No, I will take her, period, end of story." I went to go get her, met her human, an ex military dog handler who happened to own/drive the exact same truck as I do. After all of us hanging out together, she jumped in my truck and headed home. I stopped for gas, got some strait up no spices jerky to share with her.. and we drove 100 miles home like we had always been together. :)
got our GSD, 8 wk old...she is 7.5yrs. and has "Not once" had an accident in our house. 60 yrs of various dog ownership. German Shepherds are better than any other dogs or " human child" when it comes to being housebroken. lol

Thank God our landlord approved of us having our gsd ! Then we got another! He loved them both!!! They did no damage! They were trained well they never been anybody. And we commanded them in German, so nobody knew what we were talking about.! it worked out wonderfully!😅
When I got my GSD I was in an apartment and I knew I had to get him a yard. I got a realtor and he set me up on an email alert for homes for rent becoming available that were pets allowed. Even with that pets allowed tag enabled it took four months before we found a house that was all pets allowed, not pets allowed BUT 20lbs and under only or pets allowed BUT no shepherds. There was no way to filter out these results and I fell in love with several homes I drove to see, only to find out Max wasn't allowed. It worked out in the end and the first house in an HOA that did allow big dogs turned out to be the best I had seen and was 2 blocks away from where I asked my realtor to look. Max and I now take daily walks to my favorite duck pond in the city. Finding this house made me feel looked after by the universe. Keep your family together and your hopes up!
Buy a cheap camper van or just a van and kit it out with a bit carpet and stay close to Mum , Dad . It's a solution but be careful buying anything of the internet..go to a dealer ..hope that's helpful❤
Sadly, the only permanent solution is to buy a house. You'll always be beholden to the whims of landlords and property management company policies until you can cut that "rent" umbilical cord. It's very hard to buy a house these days (I know I've been trying to find something for the last several years that I can also move my job to in another state), but it's worth fighting for because there's no replacement for a German Shepherd. They're special.

Did you submit your pup as a emotional help canine most apartments and social housing will allow if the animal is necessary for health of mental treatment not saying you need a licensed see and eye dog but now it’s covered under most locations of living

The Insurance Companies is the Problem for Landlord and Home owners. The Insurance Companies have decide they are losing too much cash to Dog Owners who have Dogs that Bite in Law Suits. The largest amount of bite has come from PIT BULL OWNERS and so they are not going to take any chances and doing this for ALL DOGS. I had to fight with ALSTATE over my German Shepherd SRVICE DOG.

Our landlord charges us £20 a month for our cat. It's a small price to pay but never thought we would pay for a cat in installments. It's like a subscription or something!
If Zeus is your emotional support animal, your doctor can write a letter saying that you need your dog. This makes it IMPOSSIBLE to be refused or evicted from your housing. It is supported by the ADA. I was able to get the letter for my dog to get an exception at our apartment.
They should not legally be able to kick u out or charge you more if it is a physical mental or emotional service animals. Thoughts and prayers with you
Call and check the ad boards of vet offices. I've seen rent ads on them! May find a landlord with dogs like I did! The catch in my case was the dogs had to be out in a pen if I wasn't home. Bummer yes. But I made it work until I could buy my place. Best home hunting to you and yours...

ESA approval removes the blocks for the Pet Breed and Size restrictions - EVERYWHERE.

DMV doesn't take care of that, a therapist does.

ADA is the American DENTAL Association. ESA is a FEDERAL LAW.
