I saw YES too many times to count but haven't seen them since Jon left the band and Chris passed away. Their shows were always pure perfection every time. I miss them so much. Rest peacefully Chris🌹
The highlight of this show is And You And I. The mixture of YES and orchestra is phenomenal! Also, the encores are amazing. YES gets a nice surprise at the beginning of Roundabout. Definitely a MUST see!!😎
This is a great show from Amsterdam. Incredible orchestra many of them YES fans. The band is in fine form. Jon's vocals are awesome. Chris' bass driving the song throughout. Steve is excellent on guitar. The orchestra followed every beat of Alan's drums. Tom Brislin toured with YES playing fantastic keyboards. I love this DVD. Great great show!!! FOREVER YES!😎
@@lesblatnyak5947 Tom filled in nicely. I believe he just finished his time with Meatloaf. Now, with Kansas and writing most of the songs. He is very talented.😎
Thanks for your reaction. As they say, "Good things come to those who wait." YES, "STARSHIP TROOPER" Live... a truly awesome performance. Here's another timeless classic. The Band is "TRAFFIC', With "THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEELED BOYS"..
Yes could not be beaten as a live band. Starship Trooper may be my favorite YES song (Awaken being it's ultimate competitor for my affection with a thousand others following right behind, lol).
My older sister who introduced me to Yes when I was young said Chris Squire was mesmerizing not only to hear but to watch. He was just visceral and full of energy. His stage presence was a show in itself. Great review!
The best live Yes to watch is either mid ‘70s or Montreux 2003. Jaw dropping any way you watch😎. But those are my two favorite recorded live shows. Seen all but one tour since 76. Chris was amazing.
Starship Trooper is a great song done live. This video version is fantastic. I only wish that Rick Wakeman was on keys. His added flare and style together with such amazing musicians would add even more. But this is a great video by a great band. And of course more Yes live anytime, they are all great. You know Yes is a top class act live and how stellar they are. I always look forward to the extras they put in. You cannot go wrong. Thanks for putting this up for reaction and really liked your reaction.
I saw the Close to the Edge, Big Generator, Awaken, and this particular tour, with the symphonic orchestra...which is a brilliant addition. The orchestra accompanied Yes when they played in Manhattan, at Radio City Music Hall, two nights before 9/11/01...and it was a holy concurrence, almost as if they knew we, the audience, and New York and America, was going to need the powerful exchange of baraka, which transmitted, back and forth, in a holy strengthening, on song after song. And they played all the good long ones, she said. Starship Trooper was a second tier song, for me, with, of course, Close to the Edge, Awaken, Gates of Delirium, And You and I, Turn of the Century, To Be Over, Time and a Word, and bits from Topographic Oceans historically taking precedence. But now, hearing it with headphones, and not already 1000% familiar with it, I find myself enjoying it very much indeed. Some of the vocal bits were transcendent. I love the cymbal crasher. It is a special sauce having someone else enjoy it as well. Yeses and yeses and yeses. When will we ever learn?
Ladies and gentlemen Chris Squire and Yes the greatest show on earth. Saw this tour twice. Sir you should give a song called Release Release off Tormato a listen it's a diamond on a brilliant album.
I keep plugging this but the 2001 symphonic version of Ritual (Nous Sommes du Soleil) is mind blowing. Cant say enough about it. You didn't see anything till this. Also going back to 1972 at the Rainbow Theater - Yours is No Disgrace - Steve at his most brilliant. You can't go wrong.
This video made me go out and buy a bass guitar. Another note: Tom Brislin (the 12-year old boy playing the keyboards on this tour) recorded an excellent live cover version of Yes’ song “Sound Chaser” with his band, and that is the best version of that song I’ve ever heard.
Great reaction thank you. Now you're looking at some of the live stuff, I absolutely have to recommend Jon singing his most favourite Yes song 'Awaken' with the Todmobile Orchestra. It's a much later performance from I think 2015 and he's not with Yes at this point but the quality of the performance, the production is top drawer and to watch Jon getting completely lost in the piece is such a joy to watch. You mustn't miss it. Multiple Yes fans will like this post to echo that whilst it's not with Yes, it's an absolute must see for all fans of Yes and great music. Enjoy 😊
I definately will keep the Yes Journey going. It is amazing to see such talented people working together. Might try Gates Of Delerium from this concert aswell
@@apocketfulofheep The whole show is awesome. Would do And You And I first. It will give you the pleasure of the orchestra that you missed in Starship Trooper. Trust me!😎
I agree with other posters that this is by far the best live dvd he’s ever released. A word of warning though: the DVD had an “animations” feature that would replace the sections of live footage with lousy annoying computer generated animations. Luckily, this feature could be turned on or off. As such some UA-cam clips feature animations and some don’t. The song “And You And I” is one of the songs where a quarter of the footage is animations, and on UA-cam there are clips with and without animations. So I suggest that before you react to any song from this dvd, quickly scan through the footage without volume and check if the clip is polluted by animations.
A lot of Yes music is better live, depending on the year/version. They couldn't get wakeman for that tour so the decided to add a symphony and have Tom Brislin on keyboards. In Europe I hear the tour was tighter cause they had the same orchestra on that whole leg of the tour. In the states that had a different orchestra in each city. I saw it in Columbus and Dayton and the Columbus show was better. I think Porcupine Tree opened for them in Columbus, I had a few of their albums but didn't get into Porcupine till I saw them live and "got it". Highly recommend reacting to the Yes Magnification album.
This is by far not my favorite version of this song. Of course, the notes are at the right place but compared to the way they played it on "Yessongs" throughout the whole song I miss that special something that is difficult to describe but makes the older version much more vivid. This version sounds a bit heartless to my ears. Especially the keyboard solo at the end shows how Wakeman was on fire when they recorded the former version. But this is complaining on a high level. They are still Yes and this version is also well worth to listen to.
I saw YES too many times to count but haven't seen them since Jon left the band and Chris passed away. Their shows were always pure perfection every time. I miss them so much. Rest peacefully Chris🌹
TOM BRISLIN was the keyboardist on this tour, he is the current main keyboardist in KANSAS now.
The Yes Symphonic Live DVD is the single best thing Yes ever released. If you are a Yes fan and you do not have it, please get one as soon as you can.
It's in my collection of 70 plus YES dvds. Awesome show and tour!😎
Indeed, Yes was a concert band. They pulled everything off that they had laid down in the studio. I saw them a few time - all stellar shows.
The highlight of this show is And You And I. The mixture of YES and orchestra is phenomenal! Also, the encores are amazing. YES gets a nice surprise at the beginning of Roundabout. Definitely a MUST see!!😎

Well said Jeff ☺️ it's the European Festival Orchestra. You can tell they are having a blast right through the concert.
