Reason was my first introduction to making music on a computer and I remember being so confused but thinking it was so cool that you could rewire stuff on the virtual back of the racks. It feels like a “vintage” VST that’s been kept alive somehow all this time and still sounds really good.
Same! I had Reason 2.5 as a supplement to Cubase. I mostly just flipped through presets. Going back in after having a bunch of hardware sort of feels like I got gifted a bunch of new gear. I am really blown away at how flexible and fun Subtractor is with it being like 25 years old.
Oh my god yes. I started with Reason, then moved over to Live and never stopped using it as a dependent. Reason Rack really changed the game for me, and it's not the most janky thing in the world. Great stuff, thanks for covering it!
@@fixyourlevels I just rediscovered it after a couple of years of being obsessed with hardware synths. It feels like I just got gifted a bunch of gear!
@ Whenever I eventually have to get a new Mac, I guess I’ll have to upgrade from Reason 11… but, I don’t love the look of the new browser in 13. Hopefully things improve, past however many refresh/redesign/re-enhanced-and-streamlined-workflow updates they do by then 😅 (Reason+? Naw. I’ve been paying for a license since 2.0)
@@chiefbucknell haha I’m a version behind you at 2.5. I’m currently using 12. I have so many ideas with what they could do with this version - it’s 👌🏽 just right

reason is one of the only DAWs where you don't need 3rd party plug ins. this is a gamechanger for sure

Anyway, somehow still the DAW/plugin instrument from which I get the best sounds… why?! Must be some REASON it works so well for me.
