    As a beginner I started using Outliner as soon as I discovered it. It made organizing and editing objects so much easier!

    Thank you so much for this really powerful tool. Would like to learn more about this even though I've literally just started. Please keep them coming! So much to learn.

    Thanks for the video Aaron. I find myself using outliner more and more as my models get greater complexity. I never used it when I started and I wish I had.

    Hi, Aaron,
    Excellent video as always.
    Could you please explian how to adjust the column widths for the Tags window? I would like to have more room for the text column that describes the Tag, for example.
    Thanks..

    Hi Aaron, great vids, they've helped so much in improving my skills. I'm actually doing a practice model everyday to keep my skills up. Got inspiration from you when you said you used to practice during your lunch time. Anyways, was hoping you could do a tutorial on how to connect two (2) circles by means of an a tangent arc. I came across a practice model which I managed to complete but figured there could be a better way. Cheers. Have a great week.

    I have looked at and seen the outliner for years, I have watched vids about the outliner as well. I am a color by layers kind of guy. No outliner for me. Great vid as always Aaron.

    Hi Aaron. Another great tutorial. The SquareOne tutorials are superb! I cannot stress enough how great they are. Well presented and full of all the right information for a newbie. I keep going back to these as I learn and use SketchUp and wouldnt know how to do most of the things that I can now do without having watched these.
    Strangley though, the date on the videos seems to be 2021.... have these only just recently been produced??? If so, how did the community manage before?? :-)
    Anyways, cracking tutorials, many thanks. Matt

      The Square One videos are new (and still being actively created). In the past we have had other videos that served as "introduction" videos, but we figured it was time to serve up some fresh ones!

    Perhaps a better way to describe the visual "hiding" that occurs in the Outliner window as you use the Search field is to say it also filters out everything not found by the search term.

    One of the main functionalities of the combo Layers/Outliner has been wiped out with the change to Tags. Deselecting one Layer removed all content from the Outliner, therefore making everything easier to find, specially with complicated models. Now deselecting a Tag just grays out the items in the Outliner, but the items are still there. Nice way to complicate things. Yes, I know I say this in every Tags/Outliner video, and I'll keep saying it

    Hello Aron!
    Can I include an item (compo nent, group, etc.) in several groups here in Outliner, or asign it in more than a layer (tag), to filtering by custom needs? How can I proceed?
    Thanks! 🤗

    Would be nice if in outliner the tag would displayed where the group/component/object is belonging to. While modeling I (yep my fault, shoot me 😂) I sometimes group objects in the wrong tag. So the object in one tag, the group in an other.

    What do you think are the main differences between Outliner and Tags/Labels.
    Because i think they have the same features:
    - grouping
    - hiding / visibility
    - structuring large models
    I would like to know what is a efficient use of these 2 features for me to use in my models

      ua-cam.com/video/9FDIjvTdGrg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=SketchUpSketchUp here is your other video explaining Tags.
      Again to understand my question. When should i use Tags when should i use Outliner. What are example scenarios in a model for a good Tag, and when should i use a group / subgroup

    • @ahmad-murery
      @ahmad-murery 3 роки тому

      One can say, outliner is automatically generated to describe both groups and components hierarchy whilst tags are user defined and can put any part of your model under any tag

    • @Tirreg88
      @Tirreg88 3 роки тому

      @@ahmad-murery understood. but you need to maintain both with names etc.
      So using the same structure in Tags and Outliner would not make sense right?
      What usecase examples do you have for tags? because i only used outliner before to create a hierarchy, now i wanted to start using tags but i am just doing the same Hierarchy and that does really makes sense to me

    • @ahmad-murery
      @ahmad-murery 3 роки тому +2

      @@Tirreg88 Outliner will list everything in your model, for me I use it while creating the model to make it easy for me to access different parts of my model if they blocked each other,
      I use tags to mark related parts of the model, for example I may put all the windows under "Windows" tag, the lights, furniture, piping , etc... each under its own tag and regardless of the hierarchy they belong to,
      this can be useful when showing the model to a client or review it yourself where you can control the visibility of the materials.
      this can't be done using outliner or else you'll end up with groups and components overlapping each other and very difficult to work with.
      Sorry if it doesn't help

    • @Tirreg88
      @Tirreg88 3 роки тому +1

      @@ahmad-murery this was a very usefull example! Now i understand the different uses for each feature better.
      Thank you!
