Loving the zoomed in look. So many of these tutorials are set back too far from the mini to tell what is going on. This aspect you can get a feel for how hard you are pressing the brush and actually see the strokes.
Great video. I was glad to see you went with just a targeted wash for the eye sockets. I've been taking the same approach with these figures as I feel the faces are really small and the eyes seem very easy to screw up. The multiple ways to highlight black you used really make this dark paint scheme interesting.
I’m loving your ASOIF videos! I’ve never made a request before, but please consider doing some of the mercenary units! I’ve got all my Bolton stuff primed, but I’m hesitant to start.
I have a horse video but I use airbrush for horses so that may not be ideal for a lot of folks. I do have some Bolton's coming to me for Xmas but won't be able to paint them before that.
You probably could have gone a bit fancier with the sword on this guy if you wanted. I believe his sword is called Longclaw and is a spiffy Valerian steel blade. Anyway, I like what you have done with the Night's Watch figures including this one. Black is always hard to make look good and I think you've found a way to make a good tabletop quality black. Thanks for the video!
Too late now, but I would suggest using dark purples for highlights on ravens in the future. If you look at ravens in the light, they kinda turn purplish. However, this was a great video! I especially liked the sepia on the hair.
Jarrett, do you have any opinions on the industry's move towards PVC as a material for miniature production? It has been a staple for board game minis, but it appears to have taken off in the last couple of years for wargame miniatures games.
rustedbeetle I think it has its place. For example I just received my pledge for the Other Side from Wyrd...the minis are really interesting preassembled plastic, with sharp detail and minimal mold lines. It seems like a good option for games with lots of models and only a few poses, and is economical. But it won’t replace the really nice quality crisp details of the sprue based plastics or resins that are more appropriate for nice paint jobs or higher priced low model count games imo.
@@TheMiniJunkie For me, I can't paint well enough to invest in many detailed minis, so I figured I would ask someone who could. I have lots of Bones minis, and lots of mini board games, so for the most part, I have a lower bar. For hero models or RPG characters, I prefer the details that PVC can't replicate yet. Thanks to Kickstarter, we're drowning in cheap minis, many of which are PVC. They are adequate and serviceable for my needs.
Some raven feathers are iridescent. Do you have a transparent paint that could be used to add that effect to the raven to help it stand out, like a dark blue metallic perhaps? www.zmescience.com/science/ravens-speciation-reversal-23121/
Yup.zoom was excellent! Always nice to see new black styles. 👍👍
People usually complain about resin and not plastic ... interesting painting tips.
Really a good Paint Job.. you are the Michelangelo of Mini Painting...😉😉 greetings from Vienna🇦🇹🇦🇹...
Jürgen Michel thank you 😊

I too am hesitant to start painting the dogs and any horses in general. Waiting for someone to post painting videos on those units.

You said :"Sworn Brothers" ? There is no Sworn Brothers video in the A Song Of Ice And Fire playlist...
Awesome, your videos are great help for me! Do you plan to make other tutorials for Night’s Watch?
Raph Santa likely not for the foreseeable future
