.... DEFINITELY not trying to override this video or anything but, "Car Cat Creations" makes a plug-n-play 2 button kill switch, that requires NO splicing of wires! They make them for the Challenger/Charger/Grand Cherokee!👍
Just some ideas. You could use a remote relay and done the same thing and have it on remote, no button. You can kill anything under your hood to stop it from starting from the battery to the starter relay. Many thieves just pop the release and push it away to a trailer with a car. You need to fix that also. I would also relocate my obd port and install a fake. Wire it all hot straight to the battery no fuse. When they plug in hopefully it will blow whatever they plug in.

@@simonhanna2628 to make it even more difficult for thieves to start the vehicle. If someone wants your car they're going to take it regardless but the key is to make it as difficult as possible for them so they're unable to snatch it up in 30 seconds

Just take your time pulling the dash off little by little. It will creak and scare the crap out of you but it comes off pretty easily once you get everything loosened. Good luck!

You can still use remote start. Just have to flip the kill switch when you get in to use the car.

If the switch itself has red and black wires, does it matter that they are both spliced into the red wire for the car, and, does it matter what direction they are spliced into the red car wire?

any amperage switch for 12v systems will work fine, the amperage is so low that the wire gauge is mostly unimportant too, just match the factory 18g harness for simplicity.

What about a momentary switch that has to be held at the same time as the start button. Will that work or is there a problem depowering the start button after the car is running?
I would think a momentary switch would work just as a rocker switch. Same concept just instead of turning rocker on and off you’d have to hold the momentary switch when you started it and when you wanted to turn it off.
This is going to sound silly. But I have no clue what one of my switches is for in my 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. It sits to the right of the switch that allows you to turn on your interior lights and dims the Unconnect when you're driving. They both look the same. But I roll the switch up and down, and I see nothing happening.
The second switch controls the illumination in the footwell. At night scroll it and you’ll see the area by your feet get brighter or dimmer. 😁

I just learned something new the other day. If you hold the left paddle shifter down or even the middle shifter. It will automatically throw you in the lowest gear the car can go into. That's freaking awesome.

It changes nothing at all with any settings. Even the remote start still works. All this does is disable to push to start button inside the car. If you installed this and never even used it you’d never know it was there.

I do not understand what you just did with the remote start. The kill switch was active when you remote started the car. Doesn't that mean they can steal the car?
Or remote starting the car does not equal being able to drive it?

You can still remote start it with the kill switch activated. However, if someone were to hop in and try to drive it the car wouldn’t go into run without pressing the start button, which won’t work until you turn the kill switch off.

My car has no idea there is a kill switch and it does not cause any error codes. As for how it may affect the IGLA system you would need to ask an installer. I don’t know the answer to that one.
Random question. Installed my switch just like you. It works and functions correctly. However I noticed if I leave the switch on at home over night the car battery dies. Upon further investigation I noticed once I walk away / lock the doors the shifter and back splash screen remain on; this draining the battery all night. Is there something I need to do?
This shouldn’t have anything to do w the kill switch. I’ve never heard of that happening unless somehow your door closed switch isn’t working.
They will bypass the button and steal your car. They don’t need the button to start your car.

Sounds like you may be using a switch w more than two prongs or wires (illuminated switch). It needs power to illuminate. I wouldn’t recommend using an illuminated one simply because the idea is for it to remain hidden. Use a switch with only two prongs.

@@AwesomeDerp That’s 18 gauge auto wire. I got mine at Walmart but you can find them there or any auto parts store. They also come in other colors if you prefer red or something else.
Why does everyone cut the wire right behind the start button? That’s the first place anyone would look. It doesn’t matter where you hide the switch, they just bypass it by resplicing the 2 cut wires from the start button and off they go. Gotta find a better place to cut that wire.
If they start the Challenger the only thing they have to do is go to the center console and pushed a button and put it in gear there's a bypass in the console to manually take it out of park so what good is the switch

Yes, the pieces of 🗑️ could do that but when combined with an alarm going off, steering wheel lock installed and the neutral pull-cord covered with security screws and the obd port covered with security screws and a few other things not mentioned, they won't have the time or it will be enough time for the owner to get there and deal with them 😏.

You’re absolutely right. Thieves can bypass anything you can think of but the idea is always to make it where it takes too much time and hopefully they move on to an easier target. So what if I have a different method to kill the ignition? The thieves just wasted time breaking the trim off to access the button only to find it was done in an alternative manner. Meanwhile they are wasting valuable time. This type of defeatist attitude serves no purpose.
Pro-tip . DO NOT splice right at the push start connector as it’s easy to see if they pop the trim cover off. They’ll see it’s tampered with and undo the splice. You need to go a bit farther down the harness if you are handy like that . And i recommend soldering the wires. Not just tape. If the kill switch is active and the wires break contact( you never know) you have to take everything apart to get to them .

@@Mr.Torres831 unless you are trying to take out half of the interior to reach the other end of the body harness ,the only way to do it properly is to splice it in the dashboard cavity and the reason is ,the extensive amount of work required to get to the wires and re splice them. You “ could “ put an extension harness at the push button but even a moron could see that it’s been tampered with and reconnect the factory portion of the harness to the push start and viola ! The the kill switch is now deemed obsolete. I wouldn’t recommend something on a thread were hundreds or thousands of people could see if it was a “ horrible idea” and based off of your comment alone,you havent done this or you’d of known your comment isn’t a grand idea.
