"I can't help but feel like there's some 50 years old fan out there absolutely pissed with how the Banana Splits have been represented lately".......Do you mean my Dad haha He grew up with The Banana Splits and Yeahhhhh he was not pleased with the direction the gang been heading haha. Though he got a good laugh out of it. He's just happy to see Banana Splits is still relevant
Same I'm 32 but watched TBS reruns as a kid. I'm not sad that they're villains now it's just nice to see them again. Like old childhood friends. Or a clown that's retired.
My opinions exactly. Though I did find it weird that Quick Draw McGraw Was just El Kabong. I would’ve had both characters be the same person, and made it a Superman parody
Well I guess this is a fresh new take on these classic cartoon characters. I hope this is dedicated to the memories of Will Hanna and Joseph Barbera since they put life and energy into these lovable characters.
jellystone used to be family friendly kids show with no violence or crazy stuff going on it was a good old times but now jellystone is insane and i loved it its a shame harvey beaks ended not cancelled wish continued but still jellystone season 2 need to happen
The show is lots of fun. I love the chaotic vibe. Lots of stuff the Furries can chew on too (Yogi eats the town's inhabitants) Then there's Peter Potomus' otaku-ness, gay characters, Top Cat and the gang and the town being more diverse, I love it! I enjoy the edits they made to the characters. Makes complete sense since ALL of the characters, nearly EVERY SINGLE ONE, were male. We don't live in an all male society. And seeing the Teen Angels is pretty cool too. I actually prefer this over their past and overly masculine presentation. Next they need to have their own Olympics events.
I’ve pretty much gotten used to the gender swapped characters. One genderswapped character that I was fine with from the beginning was Dixie for some reason. Idk, but Pixie being a boy and Dixie being a girl just felt right. However one character that changed that I will never ever get over is Baba Looey. What the hell did they do to poor Baba Looey? They changed him so much that he isn’t even Baba Looey anymore. They changed his gender, his personality, his name, and even his race which genuinely pisses me off. They literally changed him from Mexican to American which angers me so much to tears, especially because I’m Mexican. So yeah, I hate this new “Bobbie Looey” character and will never get over it. But whatever, I can’t let one character affect my entire view on this show, especially a character who doesn’t add to much but have a few lines or small roles.
The only one that still kinda bugs me is Jabber Jaw, for almost the opposite reason. I think the new personality is fun and kind of works, but I wish they changed more of her looks. Like give her a bow or something, at the very least. She looks exactly like the original male version, but with longer eye lashes. Which is kinda unsettling, because the look and voice are so tied together in my head despite not being a big fan or anything. It's ironic to me too, because I think Loopy de Loop is the best gender swap and they're like a duo now. (Also, I'm not familiar with the original Bobbie Looey. So, sorry to hear about the American washing).
I understand why they gender swapped some of the characters and it is legitimate. 95% of the characters in the original series were boys. They wanted all of the characters to be Hanna Barbara characters. I would normally say add new characters, but I think this works well especially since the characters didnt have much depth before.
I honestly agree. The fact that the characters that were gender swapped got very little "criticism" is because they were too obscure, 1 dimensional or little screen time. Oggie-doggie being gender swapped was the right decision, if only becuase a dad being too over protective of his son would be a little too much. As for jabberjaw...it just fit.
It does, and Squiddly is now a girl. Though I mostly like to believe that all of the gender-swapped characters are actually the sisters & cousins of the originals, they just take their identities.
This show is god awful…it’s like the creators wanted to have Adult Swim humor but at the same time make it family friendly? So what we got is just a boring safe mix that just hurts my brain. Go watch a smiling friends instead
I don't get this show at all? Why are some of the characters are girls when they were boys in the original series? If they want more females in this show, then create new original characters. Instead, making some changes to the characters.
@@henrym4484 Yeah, but can they at least keep some of the things, what they were, instead of changing a little bit, like swapping genders since some of them were males back then. How about making the Banana Split gang the good guys again. Also, how about making some of the characters a little bit smarter than dumbing them down a little bit. Also, how about they do something similar to the Looney Tunes and the Animaniacs of modernizing them. I mean, nobody is complaining about rebooting them.
@@magnaknight9252 The thing about the gender swap is, I think it works because nobody these days really gives a crap about many of these characters. It’s very telling that the most popular character in this show to mainstream audiences is Yogi Bear himself, who hasn’t appeared in a work since his movie in 2010. And even I haven’t heard of characters like Loopy De Loop, Squiddly Diddly, Augie Doggie, or even Jabberjaw before this show. So by genderswapping some of the more obscure characters, it’s less of a gamble.
@@williamsapong81 Yeah, I guess it does make sense nobody these days hasn't heard about them, especially since some of these people weren't even born yet. Although, there are some people like myself who were born in the late 90s and early 2000, and did watch all the classic Hanna Barbera shows. If there were going to bring some of the Hanna Barbera shows at least what they can do is be like the Looney Tunes and the Animaniacs of modernizing them. I mean, nobody is complaining about rebooting them.
Remember when The Hobbit created a “new original character” to add female presence? Remember when Game of Thrones did it? Yeah. You never do that. Those OCs ruin everything. That’s not their world and it shows.
Huckleberry hound has a very calming voice
Yes he has always lied calm
He sounds like forest gump
He sounds like Cleveland Brown

I can imagine Fleegle (The Beagle who is the Leader of The Banana Splits) chasing Warner Bros with an axe for this.

They had an issue with his guns.
@@miticaBEP07 I wouldn’t of made him use guns
The show is not original
Jabber Jaw was just Curly Howard from the Three Stooges , so I feel like that they didn't want to make the character a rip off again.
It's also airing on Cartoon Network now too.
I'm watching it in Tv while I'm watching this video.
Well I guess this is a fresh new take on these classic cartoon characters. I hope this is dedicated to the memories of Will Hanna and Joseph Barbera since they put life and energy into these lovable characters.
Okay i'm sold!
Great vid btw, a comment for the algorithm✨
The banana splits are exactly how sid and marty croft visioned.

Gay characters? Which ones? I barely felt any gay vibe, or any romantic vibe, although maybe I was laughing too much to notice
@@iapr18 Mildew and Snagglepuss exists (More specifically down bad gæ and flamboyant gæ xD)
Excuse me but what?!
The banana split and suicide squad? How have i not seen this cross over before?!
I’m only watching it now. Only because they have a New Ultimate crossover Crisis On Infinite Mirths
But in all honesty, this show is better than other reboots in the past that failed like TTG, PPF, TCR, and Ben 10
Honestly if Jellystone was all that aired most of the day on CN instead of ttg, I'd be happy
Ttg was just a show fully for kids so eh
New episodes are coming on the 17th!!!
It works best if you consider them all to be brand new characters with no connection to the old HB characters except for their names.
My only issue is the art style
I thought Cindy was just overthinking herself.
I like how I'm watching this video while I'm watching the cartoon in Tv.
Jellystone is basically chowder
Made by the same guy
Great review! But on a completely unrelated topic, that off-model scene of Yogi and Boo-Boo at 5:35 is so weird XD
I love this show, I binged everything over a few days

Same with Spook, basically a different character entirely

I love the Banana Splits in this! XD
And it's a modern sitcom. Like recent Looney Tunes Show. Adults can enjoy it too if not even more than children.
New characters in jellystone klunk from dastardly and Muttley secret squirrel and Morocco mole creeper from SCOOBY DOO! Yogis gang villains and more
Nice

It's like Brain and Spook switched personalities here. Except Brain is a little emo-seeming here while Spook was never emo in any way.
To be honest when I watch the show it for the first remind me of chowder because the animation style they did
This is a social-butterfly animated show.
It doesn't have anything that can revive the past

All of the cast is lgbtq+ and neurodivergent no I will not take criticism
