    why dod they call it pastel painting? it's not painting....

      The technique is the same as painting with paint. 35:10 The artist is blocking in the colors and blending and layering. Drawing is when the artist uses line as the prominent technique.

      @mjrewerts ....but it's not paint...and there are no brushes? You're essentially using an expensive crayon and we'd never consider that as painting. Every art contest I've entered always has pastel under drawing

      @@j.pearce3981Artist pastels are not crayons. They are pure pigments just like paints with a different binder.

      @@j.pearce3981I just entered an art show at an art gallery that classified it as painting with watercolor. It’s subjective but more galleries are recognizing it as painting unless the artist is using it as a drawing tool.

      It’s the newvo thing to say. Making a mark with a dry object is always going to be drawing. But you can’t say that anymore we have to stick with what politically correct and say it’s painting. Like all the other crazy things that’s going on right now. I just kind of give up if that’s what they want. That’s what they can have. Beautiful painting. The man is very talented.
