I'm addicted to listening to this man. I just found out who he is, and I'm in my 30s. What a genuine, loveable human. And he's super smart. I just love his logic. I watched an interview, it was about him getting up at 4 am to work. He was a full throttle man, alpha, that's for sure. I’m happy you found him. I was lucky enough to grow up going to see Type O live more times than I can remember. He was a musical savant for sure. I saw them as a teenager back in 2003, went to see another band and was blown away by them. It was Cradle of Filth headlining, who I went to see,, Moonspell opened, and Type O was nudged in the middle.. I thought Moonspell was pretty cool, but TON was something else entirely. I left a fan that night. Cradle sucked. I bought their albums the next day. I just didn't have exposure to them until that point and it was so good. One of my best concert going experiences. Funny thing is, Pete was standing by the bar with some other band members before the show. Had no idea who he was, but he clearly stood out. Just thought he was a jolly green giant. Wasn't ever able to see them again.

He was great! I met him in a bar in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Him and his girlfriend were both nice. I had just bought October Rust, he said "I hope it didnt suck too much." It didnt. Been listening since high school. I will never stop.
Also, FYI: At the time of the interview, Peter was dealing with Sepsis caused by diverticulitis and he was living in Scranton, PA, with his girlfriend at the time, and shortly after Peter died Type O Negative disbanded, and the fact that we’re reaching the 11th anniversary of his death (almost to the day). Also I would like to mention that he was sober 4 months prior to this documentary being aired.
You're not the first person who mentioned the illness he was battling with at the time. Yet I'm surprised as to why it's all news to me. Is this now the official cause of death?
@@yvesheinrich5013 thanks very much I wasn’t really a big type O fan anyways because of the era they came out of and I was born in the early 2000’s so if you do the year that he was born and the year he died you would find out very quickly how old he was at the time of the interview and also I was wrong he died the day after this interview premiered.
I absolutely adore them and I appreciate them as a person and as a band so much too. I appreciate all the vulnerability they have put out over the years and i have gained so much empathy for them. They have been through a lot and i’m so thankful they were willing to put that out there (essentially for money) for us fans. Without them i would’ve been in an even darker place. They have thought and warned me about upcoming experiences i’m going to have in life as a teenager (death, ?drugs?, sex, heartbreak,… you name it) and i’m so thankful for that. If Peter Steel lived I could have seen Type O Negative taking a hiatus for several years. Sometime in the last few years they would have re-emerged Peter with a long thick beard hair turning white. Man I wish that could have happened.
Lisa C I mean that’s not wrong. Peter seemed to stick his head out at random people and either completely destroy their sense of ego or ask them why the hell did they go to his band’s concert. That sound like a parent to me. Weird he never had kids.

I'm addicted to listening to this man. I just found out who he is, and I'm in my 30s. What a genuine, loveable human. And he's super smart. I just love his logic. I watched an interview, it was about him getting up at 4 am to work. He was a full throttle man, alpha, that's for sure. The pressure of life, without self care, is too much for the heart, but like he said, it's about pride, and principle...so he always gave things he was involved in, his all. I think he was a real man, and I adore him. His intelligence is seriously staggering.
I’m happy you found him. I was lucky enough to grow up going to see Type O live more times than I can remember. He was a musical savant for sure. A natural left handed person who learned how to play guitar right handed because he couldn’t find a left hand guitar. Just another example of his talent and genius.
I just found out about him this past year and I'm 49. Watched his interviews and fell in love, but had to find out he died.💔😢😭😭😭😭 So gentlemanly, intelligent, hardworking, down to earth, funny and sweet. Respect this man so much.
I'm 31 and just found out about him last year! So sad I won't get to see him live, what a powerhouse!
@@johnnyrust That's so cool! I'm also a lefty but damn, not as intelligent as him! That's incredible...
@@sjorge388 are you a fan of Type O? I’ve been obsessing over An Ode to Locksmiths. That man worshipped womenkind
I’ll never forget the first time I saw Type O Negative I was 15 years old and saw them several more times they were such a great band. Still listen to the music in 2023
God, his voice is driving me crazy. All his energy is wildly captivating, it is impossible to tear yourself away from him.. I read a lot of his interviews, a lot of testimonies of different people, and I realized that Peter had a big kind heart. How he helped many people for free, and no one loved women so beautifully and with such respect as he did. It was most interesting to read the work of Jeff Wagner about Peter. I cried, my heart was so touched .... Peter is the most noble, strong, wise and infinitely hot image of men of all time. Eternal memory to the wonderful green Giant💘🔥🔥🔥🔥
u are truly missed Peter ...u were kind when i met you on Halloween at your show....a true Gentleman indded
What I always respected about Peter is he'll call you out as fast as he'll call himself out. A truly fair yet chaotic man
his beard is so thick it almost looks like its fake. rarely seen a beard growth that strong before lol
Part Russian. Most of my Russin friends can grow beards that so thick.
Fortunotly his head hair was like that to.
So thick and bueatiful.

Well damn, you're right.
He had some great genes for sure.
I hope he was able to atone his regrets. Because he has had such an impact on people’s mental health. He helps mine to this day. Peter was truly amazing 💚💚💚💚💚
Most humble down to earth in one of the greatest songwriters ever, and he is sorely and greatly missed
"I would call their mother up onstage." Only if more frontmen did that. RIP to a legend.
Peter looked better here than the interview where he mentioned his family and jail. Shame his body failed him, that’s the case with giant guys tho.
Too many drugs and alcohol had its affect on him even though he was sober six months.
@@kali7906 I thought it were the drugs too, that caused a heart attack. But his family stated that he died of a septic diverticulitis. Which can hit anyone. He didnt went to a hospital as he thought it was just a cold, so it became a sepsis, which caused a fatal aneurysm.
His story of drugs and alcohol surely didnt helped him here. And he must have known that giant guys should look after their health very carefully, as they are prone to diseases anyway.
Molle Tre I just looked up diverticulitis... ugh I kinda wish I hadn’t! 😫
@@molletre9606 Some months ago i looked about that true cause of death explained by his family, and i tried to make it know the spanish community of T.O.N about that in Peter's spanish Wikipedia, but they only believe it as a rumor for now, I was only able to write Septic Diverticulitis could "possibly" be his cause of death to not cause more problem, they didn't actualize info about him and his cause of death since last October and I'm honestly a little worried about that.

He’s that guy that you miss but you’ve never met him before. I wonder what he’d think of todays world…
he would be based and cool i think.
I'm met him back in 2000, Milwaukee Wisconsin. He was cool as hell. This chick with huge boobs ran up to him and jumped in his arms. He was like, "Whoa, got milk?" Everyone around him busted out laughing. He really cared about his fans though. They were all funny guys. You should check out Kenny's new band, Eye Am. They're really bad ass.

I miss you Peter. Thank you for your music. It helped me so much
I miss these guys so much. Especially this time of year. The Halloween shows were always great. Type O Negative helped me through some of my depressing days. I was inspired to play bass and dabble with keyboards because of these guys. RIP
A real working class man who did a real job while he was in Type 0 and his bass playing was out of this world as well as his great voice n lyrics.💚😎🖤
Peter was as tall as I am, which is rare. 6'8" is fuckin tall. Tall enough to duck when walking through doorways. You so used to ducking that even if there is plenty of room, you still duck..... Fucking habits. Still listen to Type O Negative.
So true! My ex was 7’ and his bestie was 7’1. I’m barely 5’. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone really. Things is shorties never think about like even a shower head. He hated driving my Xterra too. Always used his old dinky truck as that was one he could comfortably drive, despite being old as heck. Also, the back pain and constant bending over to talk to people comfortably.
What I'd give to be 6'8
There was never was, is, or ever will be anyone remotely close to Peter. Personality, honesty, whit, humor, expression of thought without a single lie, song writing, stage presence and talent. Always insightful and entertaining.Talented and never egotistical, NEVER took himself seriously, and a genuinely kind, good person.
Bands/Musicians performing now are Taco Bell. Listen to them and crap them out.
May Peter's music, charisma, and legend live forever.
This man really brought up a Goodfellas reference at 9:33 while talking about his alcohol addiction lol, RIP Peter
He is such an incredible man and artist. Incredible human being. He will live on forever to everyone who adored him. Such a fucking shame how soon he was taken away.. right when he was turning his life back around and doing well. I’m so blessed and grateful to have grown up listening to their music. People who don’t know them are missing out on so much. RIP Pete🖤💚
I first heard Type O Negative in 1999. I was 6 years old and fell in love with the band. The lyrics, sound and vocals would just blew my mind. I listened to this band when I was a troubled child and the band helped out a lot with my troubled self. The news of Peter Steele passing devistated me. It was like losing a friend to me. RIP big guy. 🤘
Someone in one of these comment sections said how amazing a Peter Steele podcast would’ve been. Oh man it would’ve been amazing. Only the good die young. RIP Peter the green man. The dark angel 🖤🖤🖤
He looks so good here. He will be forever missed. 💚🖤💔 he was 4 months younger than me and can relate to him 100%
Rest In Peace, Peter. You’ve been gone ten years now, but I still listen to Type O every day. You are missed.
There has been quite a few musicians, from bands that I like, that have died over the last 20 years... But this guy passing away is the one that hurts me the most. Pete and Type O' Negative were just such a great and unique band... Always put out great music. True genius musicianship. For me, they are missed so much and nobody else sounds like them. When I see an interview like this, I just can't help but to pause, shake my head, and think "damn, I wish that guy was still around".
Peter and Layne were the 2 that ripped my soul out.
Same thoughts .. I often think of Peter and his afterlife
He looked so good with the beard. So sad he died. R.I.P.
Peter was such a lovely soul.
Damn I miss him so much. I've been watching a lot of Pete since his 10 year death anniversary. He was a gentle giant. RIP bud.
I love his sense of humor. His interviews were always great!
I just discovered this man last night & what a true rock legend. Gone WAY too soon. RIP Peter Steele
Peter Steele is missed. Though sadly TON is missed as a whole. Forever will be impersonators but never duplicators.
Damn what an intelligent man he was! Deep thinker. He’s truly missed…RIP Peter, hope you found your inner peace
Man I miss Pete. He would NOT like modern society if here were still here though.

Man, I wished I had the chance to see Type O Negative. Been a fan of them since listening to the soundtrack of Freddy vs Jason. By looking at these interviews of Peter Steele, he comes off as an intelligent man.
I remember seeing them in concert. Peter drank an entire bottle of Merlot on stage. That beast could drink. It was my favorite concert. I wish I could have met them. They were signing autographs but I was too much of a pussy to meet them after the concert. I regret it.
What’s you expect from a 6’10” elephant that held a 34” bass like Chuck Schuldiner held his little BC Rich Stealth?
"We used to throw meat on stage. That was our thing" said like he was describing something the interviewer should expect.
i love this man
This guy had humor! I loved Type O and still do. From time to time I play their albums in the car driving home! It still touch my soul like back then.
He was great! I met him in a bar in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Him and his girlfriend were both nice. I had just bought October Rust, he said "I hope it didnt suck too much." It didnt. Been listening since high school. I will never stop.
I struggle to find words to describe this band. There’s an otherworldly aura on these folks music and imagery that can’t be ignored, Total geniuses
He was extremely witty and hilarious all the way up until the end.
He sounds and looks so different and ordinary than in 2008 like this is another Peter Steele
And yes that’s the official cause of death.
@courtneylovefan thank you
Type O could never go on without Peter...he WAS the whole image. But all of them were nice guys. Does anyone know who his gorlfriend was?
I absolutely adore them and I appreciate them as a person and as a band so much too. I appreciate all the vulnerability they have put out over the years and i have gained so much empathy for them. They have been through a lot and i’m so thankful they were willing to put that out there (essentially for money) for us fans. Without them i would’ve been in an even darker place. They have thought and warned me about upcoming experiences i’m going to have in life as a teenager (death, ?drugs?, sex, heartbreak,… you name it) and i’m so thankful for that. I hope that after all these years they can finally leave all that darkness behind and feel better. I wish them the absolute best for their family and i hope that Peter’s energy and spirit is right where it needs to be.
I think the fact that he was 6’8 didn’t help matters. Tall ppl generally don’t live as long.
Interestingly, Johnny or Kelly, (I can't remember which one) once said something to that effect too. Something along the lines of, "Peter was a very big guy. Maybe there's a price to pay for being so big."

I mean that’s not wrong. Peter seemed to stick his head out at random people and either completely destroy their sense of ego or ask them why the hell did they go to his band’s concert. That sound like a parent to me. Weird he never had kids.
