NeNe is old and has arthritis, they give her medication for the pain. I imagine the last thing she wants is a 400 plus pound Shabani on her lol But yeah when younger they were at it all the time lol😅

When the sliding door goes up and they enter into a room or go down to basement. Shabani always waits for other to enter. Every time I see this, it comes to me that Momotaro wouldn’t wait. He would have to be first.
The majority of gorillas are like Momotoro, even Haoyo Shabani brother insists to go first…. Shabani is a very mellow gorilla as he likes to wait to see if everyone is there.
@stevemorris6790 Yup, most Silverbacks are the kings of their castle. Some would attack whoever went in front of them. Not Shabani. He couldn't care less about that. But when he means business, he means business. It isn't very often the past few years. As much as he loves Kiyo, his son is now his rival. NO ONE is going to be Silverback, but him. So partly that is why he doesn't like it when his son gets too close to the females. Or gets a boost or teenage hormones, and Kiyo thinks he will successfully challenge his father. I hate seeing them fight, BUT if Kiyo is ever moved to a bachelor group, Shabani has to teach him how it goes. Kiyo is training to be a Silverback ( for all intense purposes), just not in this group.
I love how Kiyo still plays with Annie ( when dad allows). They were like twins when little Kiyo would try to give her piggyback but couldn't at first. He would go to Ai for piggyback rides. Ai is a good big sister and a good daughter. I think now that she is older and more mature, she would be a great mother. Though I think NeNe would have to have passed away before they could even think of it. I wish Shabani had a couple of other females and a few more kids. He is much too precious and unique to nit father and raise more off spring. That I'd simply my opinion
They don't seem to get much of a variety of food 🙁🙁
They do ! I saw personally as they get tomatoes, yogurt, cucumbers, green peppers peppers, lettuce and special grass.

I wonder why there is not an alternative place to feed the troop when it’s raining. It seems a little cruel to make them eat in the poring down rain. Especially for Nene…..I guess it rains in in the forests from which they originated. What does everyone think? Does the Shabani troop need shelter from the rain when they eat or not? Or is it natural for them to fight the rain ?
An outside shelter would be nice, a lot of zoos have them; however, the keepers could have just as easily fed them in the playroom this day. It's what they did when it snowed. Gorillas need routine, but I feel confident that one day's change wouldn't send these intelligent hominids raging in confusion.
But on a lighter note, the look on Shabani's face! 😄 Seeing a 400lb gorilla react like that over rain did make me giggle as it's harmless water from above. 🌧
Money is always the concern in the end.

Shes not curious about the camera equipment. Shes wondering why the unknown humans are standing so close to the window looking at her intently. Shes kind of curious and kind of taking it as being mad dogged.
