In time of trial

In time of trial, Lord, do not depart,
but still the tempest of my restless heart.
Speak words of strength and comfort to my soul;
calm every fear and every step control.
In time of trial, Jesus, plead for me,
your purchased pardon is my only plea,
though faith may falter, may I never fall
from you, my God, my Saviour and my All.
In time of trial, help me to believe
all I am given, all that I receive,
comes from a father's good and gracious hand,
trusting you where I cannot understand.
Soon, soon shall every trial melt away
in the pure sunshine of eternal day,
eternal years to endless ages tell,
'The God of wisdom has done all things well'.
