- It's a pervasive problem in the valley: red light runners. Law enforcement agencies are working together to tackle the deadly behavior because the number of people killed in crashes in Clark County is up 51% already this year and red-light running is a major contributing factor.
Can you imagine how much money Metro would get if they cite every
1. Red light runner
2. Vehicles with no plates
3. Speeding
4. Ignoring stop sign
5. Burnouts/takeovers
6. Loud car music that shakes everything
7. Illegal minibikes/dirt bikes on public road
Enough to build a damn casino
😂 what’s wrong with loud music? That has nothing to do with driving behavior. I have an 7K system in my truck and vibrating so the cars around me is quite fun to watch their windows and mirrors shake in their cars. Most people love my music till I play heavy metal, so loud music isn’t a driving behavior, just an add on we see some people dislike😂
I was actually hit by a red light runner and the other two times was t boned and hit in the back and each time my music was off. My truck got repaired twice and the red light runner killed here. Each time I was hit, it was a woman! They act like they own the roads and have no compassion for others. I have two new 80K trucks and still play loud music in both of them. Can’t believe this person thinks loud music is a driving behavior. 😂

But the silent majority are annoyed if not pissed. Some people get o mad they will confront you...some even with a gun. Not to mention it prevents you and others around you from hearing sirens of police, firetruck, ambulance depending how loud you are. I'm a Doordash driver and I see it ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! They blow through stop signs too. IGNORANCE all over Las Vegas. SMDH.
Ignorance? NO! Poor choices, yes. Broke liberals people moving from california and congesting our streets; this IS causing the traffic. People whom are self entitled and take no regard to the consequences to their actions and play victim/race card when caught.

I'm sorry but I don't support red light cameras for enforcement. I lived in Tennessee where that was done for a while. It was primarily used as a money maker for the company operating the cameras and the city. There was even some questionable stuff going on with the company. The city finally cancelled the contract.

A certain community loves to run stop signs and red lights.
Last I checked cops drive drunk but their department hides it. Everyone in Vegas takes red light everyone. They blocked themselves in by casinos and homes but no new alternative ways. Then block remaining streets for dumb events ( marathons & stupid car racing) people are tired of being blocked and delayed at every turn or area. How about start building better express ways and better lights? Till then you ain’t going to make a difference ( extortion is already unaffordable) are you going to treat law enforcers without prejudice? Or only target certain people?

I remember when u could drive threw town with empty streets and no one around . Now just to get to the corner someone is tailgating u. Not sure what’s the rush . If the city is growing we should respect each other give each other space and drive safely and carefully from a to b. Leave your house earlier if ur that much in a rush u know. God bless
Honestly, it’s due to the lengthy wait at stoplights. 3-5 minutes at a light is staggering. Unnecessarily long waits.
Las vegas lost its mystique its now socal and its depressing
About a month ago I had 2 idiots ran red lights at 4 am. One of them decided waiting for green light was too long. He / she drove thru 3 red lights. Must be in a hurry to meet up the parents in hell.
I got a ticket because 2 idiots darn near ran me off the road and because I stopped and let them go before I proceeded to continue my turn( I was literally in the middle of the intersection when this happened) I got the ticket because the light turned a steady red and traffic start going from the opposite direction. The crazy part is the motorcycle cop sitting at the light saw the whole thing. They said I should have kept going, I had my son in the car I have already been in 2 accidents( 6 months apart) one drunk driver hit me from behind and the other one I was just waiting to turn onto the street coming out my apartment complex and a lady speeding hit the car that was turning in and threw his car back on to my car. So no, I let them act a fool and try to stay out the way.
Maybe those guys were idiots, but think about it. Running a red light at 4 am makes sense.

Corner of Windmill and Rainbow area too many red lights beater and the police was only at the corner and noticed too many car without valid registration some expired 2 yrs ago still on the road
I would vote to have red light camera tickets. People are so ridiculous here in how they drive. No care for anyone’s life, no concern for traffic violations. Just continuing to cause accidents, grief, and running up insurance rates!
One thing they can do I always look at the crosswalk sign especially the ones with the counters on it that counts down when the light is going to change that's how I pay attention so I know when to start slowing down but if some of these lights are just a solid red you don't know whether to slow down or not I think every crosswalk sign should have a counter on it the numbers that countdown when the light is going to change I look at the crosswalk signs
It's good to know where the point of no return is, but most people do not have the training or do not learn.
The camera system is not reliable and has been rolled back or eliminated in some states.
They don't see issues with safety... they see lost revenue. 🤑They said 14,000 in just February (the short month). What if $250 tickets were automatically mailed to the violators based on the camera footage? Hmm 🤔💭New motorcycles, SUVs, weapons, gear, bonuses, holiday parties, etc. Keep scaring the public till they say YES to red-light cams on the next ballot measure. 👍🏾
Any idea why auto insurance is expensive in las Vegas ? Because folks in Las Vegas are confused why insurance is expensive.
Because the government had ties to insurance companies to pay for their campaigns. This city scams everyone ( the locals & tourists) only a select few are getting benefits.
So that means the yellow light isn't on long enough for a car going less than the speed limit to clear the intersection. It's been an issue for decades, and the main reason I can't support camera tickets on our poorly timed traffic lights.
They also need to look at the ones that are in a turning lane but still go straight. It's done daily on Tropicana and Paridise by the airport. I drive that way daily and now I know to keep at least 2 car distance from me and the car in front of me because I know without a doubt someone is going to be in the turning lane that's heading east on Tropicana, but darn near hit you because they didn't want to wait to cross the light. I'm glad school is over with now. I do not have to drive that way as much now.

I drive a friend to work and pick them up every day...I see at least two red light runners on the way there and then the way back.
People are starting to wait at green lights to make sure no runs the red that is how bad it is.
As you wait for the green light watch to see who could potentially run that fresh red light, duhh.

I say to people visiting to always check before proceeding; Vegas only use red light as a guideline. Almost every corner where there is a traffic light, 2-3 cars will blow the red light. You see everyday.
I believe the long wait for lights to change is the #1 reason this is happening.
Should come with a 1,000 dollar fine for a first offense, community service, $2,000 for a second offense, and revoked license, and 30 days in jail for a third offense, and on from there, not a hard fix...🤨

It should also be mentioned that now I've been seeing people in Las Vegas making a right turn then quickly making a left turn and then making another right turn.
To avoid the red light. From my knowledge of reading the handbook when I was trying to get my license that's still very much illegal and the cops should crack down on that.

Have you guys thought that maybe the time it takes the red light to turn green has something to do with drivers trying to avoid the long wait (3 minutes in certain intersections)? Nevada red traffic lights are notorious for being the longest in the country. Maybe enforcement is not the only answer.
Yep, and the green light will last only 30 seconds. It’s insane! I’ve seen plenty of intersections where this happens. While I don’t condone running red lights, I agree that this is one of the main reasons folks do it. They don’t want to be stuck waiting for it to turn green again.
Maybe people here would stop running them, if they didn't take 20 minutes to change green. 🤔 🤷🏾🤷🏾

Increase fines, suspend licenses, and impound vehicles for egregious violations(DUI, street racing) until the public figures out it's too costly to flout the law. Easy revenue and a tax on idiocy.

When the light goes green, count "1 second, 2 second, 3 second", then move off. Give those RLR's (red light runners) time to get through.

No cameras! It ends up being a money grab for the company running it.
Metro should step up enforcement. Station cops at every major intersection. Red light running is becoming the norm and we have to force a change in culture.

13,900 of these were people that stopped a foot or so over the crosswalk or took a rolling right turn at an intersection without coming to a complete stop behind the line.

Alot of people just dont care and think nothing will happen. I capture alot of screwed up drivers on my cam everyday from no lights at dark to dangerous merging to just plain wreckless and majority have california plates with some nevadians, but my guess these are previous californians.
Why haven’t they tackle Drunk Drivers who kill people, it’s been happening for decades? Running red lights? Do cops do the same?

Maybe don’t 1:09 change to light patterns which already only allowed 4-5 cars to turn left.. do some science and engineering to allow a fair flow of traffic. That could cut down on the # of frustrated drivers desperate to not sit through a 3rd cycle.

Dream on, the reason red light cameras where banned in Nevada is because of the giant red light & speed camera fraud in California and other states over 20 years ago. Drivers were getting tickets when they had a green light, yellow light, or weren't speeding. It was proven repeatedly by local TV news reporters. Drivers weren't allowed to dispute the tickets in court and the 3rd party companies that operated the cameras made huge profits while little money went to local government. Giant scam, 8 news Las Vegas is typical local trash news reporting propaganda for Metro Police. The reason there's a high rate of auto fatalities in Nevada is speeding, unlicensed drivers, driver authorization card holders that never took Drivers ED in the United States, lots of drunk/high drivers thanks to too many bars/pubs/liquor stores.
