@user-er3ri6sc3j Ian was 2022...it destroyed a lot of the west coast. Irma was 2017...that's the one that totaled my truck.

I thought driftwood was just an issue along the shores of rivers.

Funny, I grew up on a lake in the Midwest, and always had the impression that it was by the ocean 😅

@@LindaC616 I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and on a lot of nature school trips to river areas there was always driftwood along the shore.

@barrywhite8747 We did not have it on the Lake where I grew up. But lake Michigan nearby had plenty

@@LindaC616 That's why it surprised me. Driftwood comes from water levels changing and I know in the future as the world gets warmer and the coastline changes driftwood will become more common along the ocean, it just seems like it would be too early to be finding it now, but obviously, I'm wrong.

@barrywhite8747 I live in Rhode Island on the coast. Our beaches are somewhat protected because of the Bays. So we don't see anything quite this dramatic. I have seen more dramatic pieces in the outer banks in North Carolina. It is possible to see more if I go to a beach in, for example, Westerly.

But of course you had to ruin it by mentioning it. _Sigh_ It's just in your nature, I guess.
