I love your hiking videos so much! I always use them to see what the trails look like before hiking them. i’m hiking this trail in a month. it will be my 10th time hiking and 8th time making it to the top (hopefully) i’m 14 years old and started when i was ten.
Sounds like a solid basis for more hiking! While Baxter peaks are at the top of my list (and camping in the Park), I have been all over the Northeast, and I highly recommend the Whites, Adirondacks, and even my home state Greens, so keep your sights expanding! Cathedral is definitely spectacular!
This was my first and only time. At some point, I'll probably take the challenge to return. It is one of the most impressive trails I have climbed. I did not return to Baxter last year, mostly due to back problems, but I'll be there in a few days!
You make it look easy! We couldn't figure out how to get up onto the first "cathedral" safely--just didn't seem to be any easy handholds for short people.
There is one slanted slab right below the First Cathedral that I found very challenging(and I'm pretty tall). It now makes me wonder whether people have found an alternate path around it, at least for ascending(?)
O my God brings back so may memory's .climbing that mountain is so great .if u want a trip with ur family u all will remember fondly put ur time in .this is gods country why set it on fire an make it look like hell .the way I come in
Beautiful North Twin ridge across from Rick Levasseur's place at the start of video. I still have a picture of the First Cathedral emerging from the mist when prof. Phil Bordinat took me and my brother up in '60. Phil was a former paratrooper we got to Chimney Pond real quickly but Phil decided to return to Roaring Brook because the boulders were wet. Went up later and once coming back past Chimney Pond talked to Ranger Ralph Heath who in autumn '63 died trying to rescue Mrs. Ivusic during a snow storm.
+ShaneKarma376 Hey, thanks! He would be even more proud of his grandkids, who he never got to see. Have fun hiking, or whatever outdoor activities you enjoy!
Hi. Very much enjoyed this video. I've heard of this trail and always wanted to see what it was like. Your detailed video provided that - thanks, and well done! God Bless....
Just did Cathedral last Thursday. Like you said, Knife Edge is actually easier (w/exception of the Chimney). Cathedral was very unnerving in places, scary!
+Scrimmer08 When I spoke with the kids, I had not yet done the Chimney W to E--THAT was unnerving! I do remember a slab just below the 1st Cathedral where I had to reach high on the side wall for a single finger hole to pull up--good thing I didn't slip!
Yes. Several no-fall parts of that Cathedral Trail. I was also thinking about prior fatalities when I was on it, best to put things like this out of your head!
At the time, my GoPro was mounted on a homemade pack strap clamp. GoPro now makes a similar item, but I now use their Chesty--so these are all at chest height.

I took the same route when I was 28, this inspired me to return on my 55th birthday next year. I Miss my home state. Great clip!! Thanks

That slab almost got me yesterday! It was basically a short bouldering problem. I had to pull my girlfriend up it.
@@Jesterian I found one fingerhole high, up to the right, and that gave me the little extra I needed!
vtboomer yeah that hold up on the right gave me just enough to pull myself up. Then I had to hang down and pull my girl up with one arm.

A fantastic video. I've just hike Cathedral a few weeks ago myself so I can really relate.
Thank you! It was a fantastic day for filming, and I was happy to include the folks who went the same way. Congratulations, it's not an easy route!

Very nice. congrats. Were you carrying the camera or was it helmet mounted?
