Rams LG Steve Avila is Already the Best Rookie OL of 2023: Film Breakdown

- In this film breakdown, we take a look at Los Angeles Rams LG Steve Avila, who has been by far the best rookie offensive lineman so that in 2023. First off, Avila is massive, standing tall at 6'3 332 lbs. His size provides him with a tremendous anchor, which gives him a lot of mass to absorb and handle contact and power from a pass rusher. So far, he's shown the ability to mirror and defeat almost every pass rushing move that has been thrown at him, which is very impressive for a rookie. Another great thing that he has shown so far is awareness during the play. You can frequently see him chipping in to help a teammate, and always looking for work.

Avila is a BEAST.
Not only am I watching Avila. But man has Dotson also been on a tear. Both Guards have been doing work for the Rams
If only we can sort out tackle... Wouldn't be surprised if they trade up for Joe Alt, despite how badly we need an edge defender. Protecting Stafford should be the first priority.
Avila is a throwback to the great Rams guards yore, Tom Mack, Kent Hill, and Tom Newberry.
He definitely has great coaches, and having AD to practise with helps too.
I was very happy the rams took Avila with their first pick. They got some really good players later in the draft. But Big Steve is just what they needed to fix the O Line.
Solid breakdown. I knew he's been doing good, but having it broken down really shows you just how good he's been. I'm loving it! Horns up!
His athleticism really showed on the screen play vs SF, impressive.
Definitely a steal. 2nd round price, 1st round ability. Really excited for the revamped Oline, the interior is looking very good.
GOOD JOB! Just Scrolling Down and Came Up On This One, Moves to the Top of My MUST WATCH List...
MORE RAMS TAPE!!!
so happy to have him protecting stafford
He had a really good coach early on. His tequnique is awesome.
Great breakdown 💪🏾 Avila is a silent monster for us and he might be the first all pro (future) guard under McVay's tenure.
please lord protect this man 🙏
I would love to see a video one day on how Lavonte David has been THE most underrated ILB for the entirety of his career
I'm curious what are the other weaknesses on the o-line?
Noteboom and Shelton have had some rough games. Kevin Dotson has been great replacing Noteboom though
Injury to LT Jackson really threw the line out of sync having to move Noteboom out of RG. Hopefully they can get healthy again and steady the OL play.@@AtoZSportsFilmRoom
Rams got their future center
I’m excited for him at C
Definitely would like to see a darnell wright video too since you said hes having a good season. Thanks for the content!
Will do!
Would love a Skoronski video one day!
facts
Definitely, waiting on a couple more games
I may be wrong but I don't think Steve Avila has been whistled for a hold or a false start once this season. He plays like he's been in the league for a while.
Anthony Bradford has been solid, i hope you do a breakdown on him
Wanted my lions to get him but love laporta
Dude, La Porta is a complete stud. Rams fans rooting for our brother team Lions! You guys are killing it.
AVILA!!
He’s gonna be star for a long time if he stays healthy .
Where do you get that athletic score and positional percentiles? Or do you make them yourself
I calculate the percentiles from combine data and calculate the athletic score from those with a weighted average. Each drill has a different weight for each position. A guard's athletic score is more heavily influenced by weight (11%), arm length (16%), 3cone and shuttle (14%). Less influenced by height (4%) and 40 yard dash (7%). Bench Press is 2% for every position because it doesn't really matter.
Also anything about the Browns current defense would be appreciated
That's in the works right now!
TCU!!
Thru his first 8 weeks he’s done very good against top notch competiton on opposite of him
He's Dominant
Big Steve, Dotson, Havenstein… Holding it down. Steve’s (Savage) Only Gonna get better @seanmcvay the fellas need they 💐on the O’line🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤜🏽🤛🏽💛💙💛💙💯💯🐏🐏 just saying tho!!!
