Excellent video! That being said, I also come from the WordPress world and am also amazed about the amount of work that needs to go into a simple theme update. Hopefully Shopify developers will work on further simplifying this task for its users like WordPress has. Not to say that everything WordPress is better than Shopify, but this is one area where WordPress has made it pretty seamless in my experience.
It seems odd to me that Shopify hasn't created a "child-theme" solution similar to what is offered in Wordpress to allow merchants to update their themes without having to manually copy and paste several files after each update.
Paying a big amount for the theme and still having to hire or purchase another app to update the theme is something very unfair. There should be easy way to do updations.
The Theme Updater is not showing my themes in the registered folder! I needed to try this option as when pasting everything from old version to new, I have realised I am getting errors.
@@luigyabreu9938 You only copy any coding you have in all of your '.json' folders. The different folders will differ depending on theme. If there is a folder with coding in your old theme that isn't in the updated version, you have to create a folder and name it something similar so you can paste your codes in there. There is a video on this somewhere on UA-cam.
You should've done the exercise with an update from debut to dawn at least. I copied the settings JSON file and it was not compatible in the Dawn SettingJSON file

Oh well, trued the Theme Updater Plus and it failed. Could not complete theme update due to error.
