This song brings back memories of me discovering that the bridge to Oxenfurt was closed/guarded and then opting to sneak into the city by swimming across the river because I didn't feel like following the main quest breadcrumb trail which led elsewhere at the time... Epic game. Excellent song.
Yeah, I remember too. After talking about the guard and how they are making such a fuss over a pass. I just walking down the the river bank, Looking across to that shining pearl calling Oxenfurt with all the bright line shone over the azure night sky and thought "Why, I can just swam across, right?" And I'm very please that I can and there are not a thing those guard could do or having those pesky invisible wall to restricting me from doing what I want. BTW, I'm swam acrossing the river just to get that neat haircut for 10 Orens :D :D
That part where the strings come in at 2:30 gives me goosebumps every time. Sounds like when you first touch down in Oxenfurt. Oh man. We really don't deserve this game.
Holy crap, I just realized that the name of real world Oxford city means just the same as The Witcher 3's Oxenfurt - olde german/olde english for "The place where the oxes cross the river ("Furt" is the precise german name/description of that occasional shallow part of a river where animals and humans can cross it without danger)
No other game makes me cry by just listening to the soundtrack and feeling the memories...this does and I'm not ashamed to say. What a song, what a soundtrack,WHAT A GAME!!
no need to be ashamed, this song does the same to me, thats the magic behind music, specially this song is so bitter sweet, it shifts you into a certain melancholic mood, i cant describe it in words.
Oxenfurt will always be my favourite Witcher 3 city. Novigrad and Beauclair might bigger and more beautiful, but Oxenfurt was the first big city i visited and the one that struck me more when i first saw it. And the music is just too too good.

@@SLX25 I wonder, how often do you listen to soundtrack of The Witcher? over the 5 years since its launch I have started to be able to immerse myself less and less, and enjoy the soundtracks less.. I really miss it, what is your experience in this?
@@xxyourhunterxx4044 Not often lol it's just something I really appreciated when I first played the game and thought it complimented it perfectly. If it pops up on Spotify from time to time I'll give it a listen.
Such a shame the instrumental isn't on the soundtrack while its the instrumental that plays in the game...the one with vocals is unbearable.Remember staying still in Oxenfurt just to listen to this song...god-like composition.
I'm always surprised to find someone doing _exactly_ as I did. I should stop being so surprised. But, yes, I strolled around that city just to listen to it.
I like to stroll through the Oxenfurt harbor, walking by the ships and listening to this. Really makes you think how we pissed away such a beautiful life and are now living in these disgusting suburbs and cities.
Games have flaws. Releasing a game that is flawless on every aspect is a rare thing these days. This is why EVERYONE must play this game. This kind of quality comes once in a decade.
The Witcher 3 is not flawless though. It is a buggy mess with a shit combat system. However the world, the soundtrack, the story and the characters make up for all of this. If you wanna play a flawless game play Hollow Knight. It's also great, but The Witcher is a flawed masterpiece.
Reminds me a lot of AC2's music when you're roaming the rooftops... fucking loved the music of that game... it sucks that you can tell that the newer games(especially Unity) Don't have the same love put behind them as AC2 did. Hopefully the backlash they got for Unity will help though. Still excited for Syndicate because Victorian London is literally my fav period of all time. I think maybe the next AC after syndicate will take a lot out of The Witcher's book. I also hope they give that franchise about a year of time out and let Watch Dogs and Farcry take the places of it for a year. I'd really love for that franchise to have a second coming, Black Flag was sort of that but Black flag and 3 were not AC games imo.
AC 3 was complete trash. I couldn't do the whiny Native American BS. 4 was my stuff. It wasn't like the others, especially with the open water ship combat. But that's why I fell in love with it. First time I popped it in I didn't stop playing for 18 hours straight. Then beat it the next day after that. I played Unity for a hot minute. Also trash. Too much online crap and pre-reqs for items. You didnt have to but I don't play AC for online play.
Yeah after revelations- even though that was also dlc like- was the last decent one in my opinion. I think the problem with the rest was the fact that they had killed off Desmond, and started focusing on the Americas. They also switched from Connor far too quickly and didn't really create an heir to the character that was Ezio. Reboot the franchise I say. Syndicate is the first AC that I don't think I will be buying tbh
Abdullah Alamoudi I actually didnt buy a lot of them because its getting stale and played out. The only refreshing one was 2 and 4. Thats it. I heard the one for the assassin who walked away from that organization was good. I forgot what that one was called. Came out about same time as Unity but only for ps3
Mick J yeah I actually didn't play that one lol because it was old gen. I think it was called rogue? I don't know but I'd be happy if they remastered AC 2. I'd buy it again, that's how much I enjoyed it.
Abdullah Alamoudi yes, thank you. Rogue. That was supposed to be good according to some fans I know. I liked 2 but got over it pretty fast. It was hot when it was new but they need to find a new direction and not appeal to insignificant demographics
FINALLY the intrumental version. No offense to the singers but I really prefer this instrumental version over the one with the vocals. It is way more atmospheric imo.
First time I played this game, I was just exploring the map of Velen just at the very beggining, then I decided to visit that kind island on middle of the river. At time i found it was some kind of great castle or fortress of the redanians, since I thought the game would had a separate map for a proper city... But when I traversed that big bridge it was such a impressive surprise, a whole funtional city on that war scenario map. It was crazy to explore that fair square around those big buildings, since i only had been with Geralt on villages and small towns. It was a completely new experience, and this soundtrack got stuck on my mind every time i remembered this moment of the game. The funniest thing is that little did I know, that there was on that same map, another city that was 4 times bigger than that one I've just discovered at Oxenfurt XD
